With no Jander we will be. Just a hunch, but I don't think we'll see him in a Saints shirt again. If he doesn't go this window, he will in January.

I'd be very surprised if he went anywhere today. He has genuinely been injured and missed a lot of pre-season so there's no cover-up going on there. And given his age, potential and length of contract, it would have to take a massive bid for us to even consider letting him go now. I just don't see how a major deal like that could happen without so much as a sniff of it appearing in the media. Usually the kind of clubs that could afford that sort of fee would put stories out in the press to unsettle the player, but there's been nothing of the sort.

Seems highly unlikely to me, but not impossible of course.

Big ‘fuck you’ to Villa for dragging it on this long. No time to properly replace him, just got to home this Abbott is mature enough to go straight in

I would be pretty alarming if we only started looking today for a replacement.

I'd rather live in Copenhagen, Salzburg or Lecce too.

Salzburg would be a pretty boring place for a 20-something singleton to live, to be fair.

Better ploughing a bunch of valley girls.

........ if Larin is injured I'm not sure we have anyone else.

The old Russell Martin " pick a team without a striker" ploy.

Why do you think that’s the case?

I dont. But to suggest that the Villa bid as resulted in us not having enough time to find a replacement is just daft

I agree that we do not seem to have a like for like replacement for Larin in order to rest him/ allow proper recovery for Injuries and suspensions. This is probably the most obvious omission - all things being equal - to this being a very good window.

If there is no back up striker recruited it can only mean one thing:

1. We cannot find a target man suitable to come here. ( cheap, good, willing)

For me the question is which is the stronger pairing:

THB & Stephens

or

Schlotterbeck & Abbott / Schlotterbeck & Wood

There's a possibility it is not the first.

I think we'll quickly find that the Schlotterbeck pairings will be at least as strong, and we will quietly forget about THB.

One person posted about Casper Jander on here, aside from that it's been confirmed he is injured.

Some people love lapping up a rumour, and getting worked up about something with no substance.😂

Posting a players name and an emoji is peak deadline day attention seeking to be fair.

Dear Sam Edozie (& agent),

If you're waiting for Barcelona or PSG to come in for you, you're going to be waiting a fucking long time, given you have the ability of Bradley Wright-Phillips when he was out of form.

Please be grateful that a Championship club has even considered you, and leave.

Regards

Nathan Redmond. Free agent, 6 months, pay as you play  👀

Makes sense - versatile, knows the club. Gets us through to January and then reassess

I mean - I've done it before - and then we actually signed the player! 😂😂
I posted about Nathan Redmond signing on a separate forum years and years ago and the following day without even a whiff it happened!

On a side note, I will 100% be doing similar later on today when things start getting interesting 🤭

I’m sure that’s not the case, but completing our sale on deadline day makes it so much harder. Selling clubs of our targets have no time to replace so it doesn’t happen. Made even worse by our apparent top targets not being interested

I also liked the look of Schlotterbeck, but I think we'll miss THB's very accomplished long passing

Not going to be an option to buy if he does well then? Great!

If he does well enough to help us get to the Prem then he will have done his job. We will then be able to attract the sort of CBs that have been declining our approaches this window. It’s a positive if Forest don’t want him to go, means he is able to competently do a job for us this season.

I don't think their fans particularly rate him to be honest

I don't think it was poor. I do question why we spent 9 million on Dobbin though. Personally I'd have preferred using that money to strengthen our defence and midfield. On the wings I think we look light and reliant on people not getting injured, I'm not sure if we have the variety in midfield even though I'm happy with the jwp signing and if Larin is injured I'm not sure we have anyone else.

Agreed, although on paper Dobbin looked sensible given that Edozie doesn't have a future here. On the pitch though, he looks a poor pick.

14 goals from midfield/wing last season...tough crowd.

Why is Muamba not seen as Larin's replacement when needing a rest? He's been brought in to be Larin's understudy. He's a big powerful lad, with a reasonable turn of foot once he gets going.

Are we even looking for another striker? The continued Ratkov noise felt like bullshit to me. I would imagine any contact was before we signed Mumba, not after.

And the Abbott move is back to being much more underwhelming.

yesterday posts were about Glasner not rating him, him being 6th choice and him not being PL standard. If he is signing a long term deal, someone there rates him highly. For me, that gives me more confidence and happiness in the move. That said, I do have my concerns about him, both as a CB and RB.

Why do you have concerns about him as a RB in Championship? Hopefully he won’t play much there as Bree is main.

What gave you seen or read that makes you worried I honestly have no idea if he is a good temporary replacement

Carvalho is available on loan, but Hull City interested.
I presume Grealish replaces Ndiaye and doesn't make Dibling available on loan?
