In this instance he tended to join in the pile on of the club. He knows there is no integrity in football - it's a game full of cheating and cheaters so we shouldn't be encouraging this feeding frenzy that portrays us as the worst of the worst. We are not and the punishment meted out has been disproportionate so let's circle the wagons and stand up for the football club rather than joining those throwing the rocks at us. Dislike podcasts and reporters. House is occasionally passable, but that's it. Wasn't keen on TE when he started but since he got us playing well I've decided to put up with him. Agree that probably for the only time Steve Grant was bearable and kept perspective. Saw no reason to join in with the pile on and hardly ever do, but you lot who complain that everything's made up and then still believe it ... .
St Chalet Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Luckily enough to spent a few times over the years with Steve Grant when he was bearable to fair.

I suppose lots of fans followed a similar trajectory but media personalities should always try to rise above it and be a touch more balanced than the average reactionary fan. I will wait for his opinion on Bob Higgins before making a knee jerk judgement. 1
Noodles34 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago @FootballMartin sits in his bedroom podcasting whilst his kids and missus are downstairs having their tea... Dunno, there's a market for it but funny the other day when he was asked a question on another online channel I guess about something that was about Saints history and he got flustered and pulled someone else over, saying something like 'ask a real fan'... Pretty much summed him up for me. He's constantly trying to get sponsors and make this a full time job, I guess he wants to be the new Robbie from Arsenal TV, a bit sad really. I guess the EPL dream has really fucked that up now. And I'm obliged to say that he doesn't eat babies.... apparently. 1 1
OldNick Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 14 hours ago, FootballMartin said: Thank you. I appreciate that. I don’t want or ever have wanted to be the voice of the fans. I want the fans to have a voice on my channel that’s why I have started what I have. I love talking Saints it's a huge part of my life. I’m really fortunate to be invited onto a lot of shows, and I enjoy some of those opportunities as I want to talk about our club. I want fans to share their views and have those views seen by the club, and supporters all around the world. That’s one of the great things about YouTube it gives everyone the opportunity to share their opinions and be part of the conversation I have to say it's great if done right. It’s a platform that’s open to all, and I only see it continuing to be a positive place for fans to connect, discuss, and share their passion for Saints. Yes thats good for you to be asked to go on lots of shows, but perhaps you could show a bit more passion defending Saints instead of being Mr Too nice guy. The fans and the club needed defending but IMO you followed the Boro narrative and went against us. I cant believe how our own people havejoined in the bashing. We are a family and its ok for us to criticise our own but when others from outside do, you defend them to the last. You are obviously making plenty of money doing your thing, but dont bite the hand that feeds you as one false step and it will crash around you. I feel passionate about the whole situation and it is something that I will flare up about, as Saints are important in my life and I will defend them. Yes they have done something ridiculously stupid and needless but by going out there to the wider world and agreeing with the biased sentiments you are harming our club and us. Listen to Nick Illinsworth on Solent the other week (I dont know him btw) he showed the passion and fight that we as a fan base needed not mealy mouthed stuff. 1

The fans and the players have been badly let down. I was angry, disappointed and shocked in equal measure when it all came out and it has put a stain on Saints' reputation in the football world which will take a long time to recover from. I'm misunderstood quite often too, probably due to my wording of things, so I feel for you that this post got taken the way it has. I knew what you meant. You're saying the Spygate thing is wider reaching; It actively affected a lot more people, even if the effects weren't anything like as comparable. The fact that it's been peddled in the media to the point people can even draw some kind of comparison between the two speaks volumes, to me at least.

I asked the question, it was which saints player had the most turnovers whilst playing in the offensive flanker position during the 2022/23 EPL series. This was to test his credentials as only a real fan would know. He failed. Bro has zero baller knowledge, fam. 1

OldNick Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Adam Blackmore, is a fantastic commentator and any highlights clips I hope it is his commentary. Love Goin Home with Adam and Jo. I do not like his stance on Tonda. Alfie House is another good journo BTW. I do wonder if any of the Saints journos would have asked the Boro manager 'are you a cheat?' if the boot was on the other foot, as the Boro twat did to Tonda as I beieve they are too well behaved. Most people have a hobby of some sort and if he's managed to make some money from it then all power to him. A lot of his streams are short and the longer ones seem to be about 10 at night which would mean he's not missing out on his family time. Even if he were- what business is it of yours? Just say it isn't your thing and move on. 12
Turkish Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Anyway, i like Blackmore and Alfie House, both come across as decent blokes. They've got to walk a difficult tightrope between reporting the news, giving their view and also keeping the club onside with their employers. Overall i think they've got it right, critical when needed, praised when possible and do it in a quite listenable and interesting way. 17
kitch Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I like AB too, seems a good guy. Went in pretty strong on Tonda, but then most of us did! Alfie House is class, we're fortunate to have him. 5

LGTL Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Alfie House is very good IMO. Unfortunately (for us), he’s probably destined for bigger things than the Echo. 1
Willo of Whiteley Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Alfie House - very good Adam Blackmore - decent journo, good commentary Total Saints Podcast team - all excellent in their own way. It’s just four blokes asking questions and sharing opinions and it’s great fun to watch and listen to. Good humour and very informative. Martin Sanders (Football Martin) - also very good. The only “Saints fan channel” (if you like) that actually brings all fans into play with their comments and opinions. And if he’s making a living from doing it then good on him, I’d love to have done something like that myself. Only thing I’d say to him is just ignore the wind ups on the live chat, don’t acknowledge or mention them, they’ll get bored. I’ve done a couple of the Twitter spaces in recent times and they’ve been quite fun, engaged with the guys mentioned above at one point or another and they’re all very good in their own way. Opinions change and they can vary on whatever information comes to light to sway a persons mindset. The mindset of most fans has shifted in the last week or so. But none of the above have said or done anything wrong, or peddled some kind of narrative. It was humans and fans reacting in real time to the events that were happening. I will always respect your opinion Nick, and I understand your views because Southampton Football Club means a lot to all of us, we all share that same love. Where I think we differ is that I don’t believe defending the club means pretending they’ve done nothing wrong because they did. I can love the club, support the club and still be honest when mistakes have been made. In fact, I think that’s part of being a fan. I’ve never gone out of my way to bash Saints I love the club too much and I certainly haven’t followed any rival narrative. What I’ve tried to do is give an honest and balanced view of the situation, whether people agree with it or not I will never please everyone it’s impossible but the response and the comments usually give me a good idea. As for being invited onto shows, the reason broadcasters come to me is because they know they’ll get a fair honest opinion rather than someone simply shouting the loudest and being a dick head. That doesn’t mean I care any less about Southampton than anyone else. I want what’s best for the club, just like you do. We may disagree on how to show that support, but my loyalty to Southampton has never changed and never will. Huge fan of Nick Illinsworth and I have massive respect for him.

I don’t actually sit in my bedroom it’s my garage! 🤣🤣 My dream isn’t to be some big media personality. My dream is to stay healthy, watch my kids grow up, and enjoy being a dad. I’ve got a job that pays the bills, and I’m incredibly fortunate that I also get the opportunity to talk about the football club I love. That, in itself, is a dream who wouldn’t enjoy it. As for Robbie AFTV, no, I don’t want to be him. But he’s built something hugely successful, is respected by many people in football media, and has made a living from his passion. Fair play to him for that. The odd sponsorship helps cover costs because creating content isn’t free, and I’m grateful to the companies that support what I do. As for your final comment, I think that probably says more about you than it does about me.
