With just under a week left, what are we think?

Home game to start and end would be dreamy.

I have this feeling Pompey at home won’t be until the end of the season.

Will Middlesbrough have enough time to find something else to sue us over before we meet them?

Prediction:
Charlton H first game
Pompey A November
QPR A Boxing Day
West Ham A New Years Day
Pompey H April
Birmingham A final game

Middlesbrough away boxing day 12:30pm kickoff

I reckon Boro will be opening day as sky will love it.

Definitely won't be boxing day as they won't do long distance for those games.

The Friday night game (presuming they do one) will probably be West Ham vs one of the promoted teams.  Can see us against Boro as a 12.30 Saturday game though.

Yeah I imagine both Boro games will be on Sky. Hopefully it is the Saturday 12:30 rather than a Friday or Monday night.

They will love it but they don't need it to be the opening day. It's still an interesting fixture in October or whatever. Would be wasted on opening day.

Opening day is about relegated Premier clubs going down a peg or two playing L1 promoted clubs/small Championship clubs.

We're getting Gibbo FC away on opening day (ole ole)...

In all seriousness, we need to be playing the newly relegated sides as early as possible and catch them before they settle. Would lap up a trip to the West Ham or Wolves (or both) mid way / end of August when they're dealing with transfers in and out and the fans aren't happy. Saints should be raring to go this season... 20 games unbeaten with a run of form over those games that equates to 113points over a 46 game season - get the hardest (on paper) matches out the way before those teams can settle.

Strangely for this season, our opening game will actually be in the EFL Cup as it's being played the weekend before the opening league games

So it is possible for our first game of the season to be Portsmouth...

I’d prefer the relegated teams just after the transfer window closes. Hopefully just after they have had a last minute fire sale of all their premier league players.

I can see it being us vs Middlesbrough first game as 'spygate' is still reasonably fresh in the minds. Skates will be the usual early autumn and then towards the spring....Cardiff away Boxing Day.

Genuinely buzzing for that cup draw next week, weird quirk York City could be in the "Southern" section for 1st round (if they win preliminary round vs Crawley) , would be a great trip.

I'm hoping Wolves have changed away end for the Championship now they dont have to give 3000, absolutely hate that section with the executive boxes at the back , nightmare getting into Wolverhampton pubs as an away fan as well, in fact between them and West Ham usually two of worst away days in the Prem.

Pompey away first month as I should have enough aways but won't if in 2027. Boro home first game, put Boro fans on bubble coach.

Needs to get off to good start so lower table expected teams in first month or so.

Boxing dat normally a London club so west ham home, new year Birmingham away, last game Pompey home

Although the fixture process is meant to be random, I'm fairly certain Sky have some influence, at least for the opening rounds. It wasn't a coincidence that both us and Ipswich for instance, two relegated teams from the Prem the previous season, just happened to both get two teams promoted from League 1 in Birmingham and Wrexham on the opening day.

For that reason, Lincoln will almost certainly have one of Wolves, West Ham or Burnley.

It would a dream scenario for Sky if we did play Middlesbrough on the opening day. And perhaps the EFL, given the interest it would almost certain generate, that it may not do later on in the season... we'll find out soon enough!

This is useful for those wanting to make plans:

When will fixtures be selected for TV?

TV selections for the 2026/27 season will be announced as follows:

By 2 July 2026, selections will be announced in respect of all live broadcast matches to be played before the end of September 2026.
By 31 July 2026 selections will be confirmed in respect of all live broadcast matches to be played up to, and including, the weekend of 8-11 January 2027.
By 6 November 2026, selections shall be announced in respect of all matches to be played up to, and including, the midweek of 2-3 March 2027.

Selections for matches scheduled for the weekend of 5-8 March 2027 will be announced by 5 February 2027, followed by weekly announcements looking four-weeks ahead. (For example, the weekend of 12-15 March 2027 will be announced by Friday 12 February 2027).
Selections for matches scheduled for the penultimate weekend of the regular season will be announced three weeks in advance.
Selections for matches scheduled for the final weekend of the regular season will be announced the week prior.

Boro away

I'm going for that start.

Won't play the skates that early. They like to avoid local derbies for team's first home games.

Good chance of having a positive points total by Sept then.

Yeah, it’s a decent enough start, can’t complain with that.

Lots of midweek northern away games which is a shame.

Better spread of fixtures and away trips than last year I think.

No Easter games this season because it falls the same time as an international break which is annoying. Means we have extra midweek games this season, 6 at home and 6 away. Usually there would be 8 or 9 midweek rounds

Who will take away our unbeaten run in the league? I'll be optimistic and say West Ham away on 24th October 🙂

First 7 games we didn't win any of those corresponding fixtures last season?

They were all before we sacked Still, weren't they?

Hold on - Millwall at home wasn't.
