Not bothered to check the Preston forums but I can pretty much guarantee they are all fully expecting Dobs to score a hattrick against them today.

Seeing as they will know him very well and the threat he carries, I'm expecting them to mark him very tightly so don't be too surprised if he doesn't find much room for himself today. But I hope that will leave space for others to exploit, because they can't double up on both him and Scienza (assuming he's fit).

If they've got any sense they'll leave a big hole through the middle for Dobbin to be left one on one with the keeper.

I think we’ve been stung enough by the lower teams recently not to be complacent - 2 nil Saints - but only if we play our strongest team from the off - Dobbin up front not Mubama. If we do get to 3 nil up with 15 minutes to play, give Princewill a run out.

Same as that. We’ll faff and they’ll play like a team going for promotion. Seen it all before. Let’s hope we’re wrong and it’s a 7-0 for us

To me it's not about what team we play, more important that Tonda gives them clear instructions to go offensive from the off, no sitting back giving them a chance to play. Wherever the switch is that he turned at halftime on Tuesday needs to be in the ON position from the start. We have goals in abundance throughout the team without Larin, but we won't score if we don't get into their area.

I had a weird daydream that it ended 2-0 and Downes and Dobbin scored.

Preston has one thing going for it - £9.10 for a Guinness and a Neck Oil. Few decent old school boozers about. Still a shithole though

I like it. The bench isn't as strong as it has been but the first team is one of the strongest he could have put out. We need to get the job done early today.

I agree that it's a strong first 11.

Why do you think we need to get this done early? Won't Preston tire later on? Is the Preston bench a strong one that could pose us particular problems?

Thierry Small playing in the 10 position for them according to Live Score?? Thought he was a second rate LB?

Think he plays LW for them

Because that bench contains a total of 19 Saints League goals between them, 9 of them are Manning, and 7 are Edozie. Stranger things can happen but I don't think that's a game changing bench particularly. First XI is strong though. 💪

Preston's forum can't even work out their formation. Their number 1 has been dropped too for poor performances recently.

No offence to Preston, we were in their shoes not so long ago, but we should be winning it convincingly.
I'd like us to be comfortable enough to put on some of our stragglers early second half... get them some mins and in the rhythm.
3 nil - cheeky Leo hat trick

Defending not his best skill??

If we were playing one of the promotion chasing teams and wanted a stronger defender then I would absolutely want Welington in the starting lineup. But this is Preston who are bottom of the league for a good reason.

I can only assume Manning isn't 100% fit because this seems like exactly the kind of game where you would be happy to sacrifice a little bit of strength in defence in favour of the extra attacking threat he brings to try and break down a team defending deep.

You always have a bad feeling, don't you?

More negative (realistic) than overly positive I'd say. It's the affect of nearly 40 years supporting Saints.

Yeah, pretty shit though

Realistic is believing we'll beat this lot. Anything else is negative.

Bizarre to look at the past 40 years. It's completely irrelevant to how we're doing under Tonda.

We should win this. Comfortably.

I really cant imagine why. Hes been awful.

He was ok last season without having any real standout games. This season he's gone backwards though. Every time he's come on or started he's been largely terrible.

Saints will likely let in a double deflected goal in first 3 mins. Then wake up on 70th min. This game should be a win, but there is so much pressure on Saints to get the expected 6, 7 8-0 we know Preston will end up playing thier best game of season.

G'arernoon.

Nice to see our goal-scoring LB getting a start. Wonder if that's to give him some minutes or is Manning not 100%?

No Larin, no Jander. A little concerning. Do wonder if Jander might have an eye on the exit door...... really hope I'm totally wrong.

Should be strong enough to get the job done. I'm going optimistic:

3-0 Saints.

Dobbin has to score a few goals here

With Scienza in team he won't get a better team to score a hat trick. I dont think Saints practice shooting at all only in the warm up.

Bloody frustrating with no Larin available, that’s the big bone of contention.

The only trouble with having Dobbin up top is that he is utter shite. Terrible buy.

He's not a striker that's the problem and we play one up front Xmas tree so the player in that position needs to be a natural goal scorer. Isn't Dobbin a midfielder, someone who feeds a goal scorer not the actual front man
