Arizona Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Lets have your thoughts on here. Unfortunately I can't get the day off work, so I want to see plenty of photos of the monopoly money, HMRC signs and TCWTB crying into his hat when we win. Team News: Fonte, Seaborne, Puncheon and Otsemobor are cup tied. Antonio and Barnard are NOT. Murty and Connolly are injured.

Saint J 77 Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 I can't see anything but a smelly Skate victory. The thought of which makes me feel sick! Obviously I want to be wrong. But I don't think I will be. I just hope its quick and as painless as possible. The trouble is if they beat the tax man this could be the game that turns their season about. It could give them the lift they need. I really didn't want to play them for this reason alone. I heard Avran Grant got sent off last night, so does that mean he will not be allowed in the dug out for Saturday or does it not take effect until their next league match? if they have another league match left that is

Pompey are a big strong team which will try to bulldoze their way through. We have a bit of skill which I hope to see unravel their hopes and bring us home victorious. Watched the game - was appalling - bottled giving the scousers a pen with the last kick of the game. But made crap decisions all night. Don't rate him more generally. Professor Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Lets remember that Pompy do not have a premier league team. Thats why they are points adrift at the botttom. They have a CCC level team playing in the premier, whereas Saints have a CCC team playing in Div1. That makes it an even game, only we have home advantage and a winning habit, whilst Pompy have nothing, not even players who understand what a local derby is about. 2-1 to Saints after being 2-0 up. A very good way to look at things. I think the Lads are perfectly capable of seeing off Pimply, but I have one slight reservation, and that is that they managed to get a last gasp draw against Sunderland. It sent their morale rocketing, and Grant made the very most of it by gathering them all round in a circle just after the whistle to drum the lesson into them. So my only worry is that Grant will have done his job too well. If they play as they usually do, I feel they could well be there for the taking. Andy_Porter Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Completely disagree, they are weakest in defence, we need to go for them. As do I. It's only really in this country where people seem to think 4-5-1 is a defensive formation because we have so many negative managers who use it in such a way. I know we played some decent football in our 4-4-2 on Tuesday but Saturday is a different kettle of fish - we need to control the game and get at them, having an extra man in midfield will give the full backs more scope to attacks as well as the wingers. LGTL Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 We have to attack at them, their defence is the weakest part of the team. Let them come on to us and we might suffer though. Saint Fan CaM Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 If they win it will be due to their pace. Our biggest attribute will be taking the game to them and closing them down very early. Any player that wimps out on a tackle will not be in my good books. I really think we could do this but I reckon it will finish 2-3 to them. St Marco Posted 11 February, 2010 Share Posted 11 February, 2010 Have to remember they are a prem team and we are a third division team. They have to be clear favourites to win and most neutrals will be expecting them to beat us. That in my opinion is what we want. Saints have always done better as the under dog, the team written off. If we can tap into that famous spirit of days gone by we could pull off an upset. Portsmouth have some decent players but from their games i have seen and reading what their fans say they don't looklike a team playing together. They played against 8 outfield players midweek and struggled to break them down, only scoring by route 1 in the 95th minute. That appears to be their style. Hoof it up the pitch and hope either Dindane or Utaka get onto it. Sadly of late we seem to be doing the same, void of ideas and looking to our front man for the inspiration. But i think we have gears to go up. I have seen our team play very well in games and you know if it connects they have the potential to destroy teams. League wise we have started to fall away a little, but as a cup team we have only lost 1 game in something like 14 games and that was to a PL team, of which we didn't deserve to lose. If we play like we did in that game we could win it. I have a feeling it will be a very frantic affair and having Howard Webb as the ref might be a good thing as he is in my opinion probably Englands best ref currently. He has experience of the big games so hopefully he will get the passion in the game and not ruin it by making a bad call which could spoil it. My gut feeling is a 2-1 win with Lambert scoring an injury time winner and becoming a god on the south coast.
Under Weststand Posted 11 February, 2010 Share Posted 11 February, 2010 On a long weekend in Torquay Fri to Mon anyone know any good Boozers to watch the game in Torquay?
