The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

So we could now pick up Neal Trotman as a back up centre back for nothing?Plenty of people wanted him signed in january on these boards. If we can't get Elliot Ward then it might be worth considering as he was pretty decent here for most of his loan spell.Or can we attract someone better!!

There will be some decent players available on frees from the ccc so we should definately try to get rid of players like Molyneux,Forecast & Wooton this summer (pay them off) if at all possible as well as most of the players out of contract.

Lets add 4/5 real quality players to really destroy this division next season

Gavin McCann- Bolton. Not had many appearances this season so potentially available. Also played with other Prem clubs. Bought from villa for £1M so could be a decent price?

Scott Sinclair- Chelsea (on loan to wigan). Spent most of his career on loan to championship clubs so potentially worth a cheeky loan bid as this seems to be his role.

Oliver Kapo- Wigan. Frenchman played for his country in under-21. Now 30 so has experience. Played for various English and foreign clubs. Scored a fair few goals. Only played once this season so like McCann potentially available?

Mathew Etherington- Stoke. 27 so again has experience, frequent player with ‘pace and creativity’ according to Stoke’s website. Not scored loads of goals but the creativity mentioned could be useful.

He won't come unless Xavi signs.

Ah, so this is the Olivier Kapo who played for Juventus 14 times in 3 years? That'll be the same one that's played for Wigan 20 times in 2 years as well then. He's been sent out on loan to Boulogne, pretty much the French equivalent of Hull or P*mpey. Hardly Lionel f*cking Messi is he?

Just because somebody has played for Juventus doesn't necessarily make them an absolutely amazing uber-player. I'd say that Kapo is more than reasonable as a transfer target in the summer, and i'd be very happy if he joined us, unlike you who seems to be contented with just slagging off everything to do with the club, even stretching to ruling out potential transfer targets because they once played for a good club. You should go out for a drink with Alpine Saint someday, you two would have a ball.

Vincent Pericard once played for Juventus...

james beattie..??

ffs

Not completely out of the question IMO. Can't see him getting another Premier League contract (maybe West Brom actually, or whoever comes up from the play-offs), he is out of favour at Stoke, Stoke is a **** hole, he liked it down here, we could offer him pretty much whatever any Championship team could, there's no special lure of being in the Championship, he's never won anything.... etc

There are certainly sillier ones on here!

seriously, beattie, why..?

we would have to offer him circa £20k a week for him to consider taking a pay cut..

we will sign the odd player (probably no more than one) from the CCC and then get 2-3 good players from league 1.

all this getting players straight from the prem who are probably on £30k a week plus, is sheer pie in the sky IMO#

we still dont know if we can lure antonio from mighty reading yet

I doubt he's on £30k a week.

I reckon Lambert is on something like £8k. KD probably similar if not more.

I think Beattie would consider £10k. Not saying he would accept but I don't think it's a ridiculous suggestion. I think it's a more ridiculous suggestion that he will ever get a £20k-£30k contract again (if he is on £30k now). I don't know how long he's got left on his contract at Stoke so maybe he'll be prepared to sit it out but he doesn't strike me as that sort of bloke.

apparently blackburn are looking at beattie as well as one or two others...even if that is true, I would be amazed if he dropped two divisions

I agree that if a Prem team comes in for him it's unlikely. My main premise was that no one in the Prem goes for him. We shall see....!

And Seabourne, Arizona. Don't forget Seabourne.

I'd loan him and Martin out for a year TBH. Haven't seen Martin, but I'd take Trotman over Seaborne any day. I just don't get that signing. He was hardly special at Exeter and I haven't been overly impressed by him since.

All the players who will never play for the first team should now leave. Paid off if their contracts aren't expiring, since I can't see a single reason for why they should be coming in for training. All the players in the squad should have the talent and character to compete for a place, and if they are very young certainly in a years or twos time.

Beattie, Trotman, Chaplow are all examples of players who were here once. That doesn't give them any advantage to be signed. On the contrary. Chaplow wasn't great the first time and has failed again since. Trotman would only get a place on the bench at best. Beattie never fulfilled his potential since leaving. It's better to move on than to move back.

We need a commanding RB and a CM who can compete for a starting berth. AP is already on the trail for Lambert's understudy, but this need to be somebody who can also play with Lambert, since he will hardly be matchfit to step up if he hasn't played competitively for many games. Not easy to find the right player with the system we are playing. Playing to targetmen together is not an attractive proposition.

Can't see that happening. I think he has a lot of potential and we will try to mould him rather than loan him out. Trottman is a decent defender at this level but is pretty gash on the ball. I think Seabourne and Fonte have the attributes of a really good partnership.

IMO we don't need another striker to replace Lambert as we've got strikers here already in Barnard, Connolly and Waigo (assuming he stays - although that's not a foregone conclusion). What we need is better midfield options that will get the ball to the strikers feet so we don't have to rely on the 'hoof to Lamberts head' tactics. Problem is when Rickie doesn't play, we don't have a viable game plan which would be sorted out by having one or two top attacking (or box to box) midfielders.

Martin is bigger than Seaborne but far less impressive (only based on that single outing I know) if you ask me. Even with that very limited evidence I'd still go as far to say that we have no chance of promotion if we have to rely on him to play too many games next season. Season long loan is the right idea.

Because Chaplow would be an excellent addition at this level.

Can't really understand exactly why he's being "released" by PNE, Cost them a fair bit of money and it would seem that he has an ongoing contract, maybe he's available on a free transfer but I doubt it's really all that free because West Brom benefit from a sell on clause and he probably gets a good whack on the salary front.

Preston North End are releasing the following...

Eddie Nolan

Liam Chilvers

Richard Chaplow

Neil Mellor

Michael Hart

Darren Carter

Neal Trotman

Stephen Elliott

Neill Collins

Chris Sedgwick

http://www.pnefc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10362~2041719,00.html

Some very good players in there all available on free transfers!

For a start getting Chaplow again, would be great competition for Hammond and Schneiderlin.

In fact they're not all available on free transfers. Some of them are still in contract and PNE are willing to consider offers for them.

How about Lukas Jutkiewicz on loan from Everton to be that extra striker.

Despite the name he's from Southampton and a Saints fan supposedly. 10 goals for Motherwell in the Scottish premier league this season.

At 21 he's still got a lot to learn, but he's a physical presence up front and has potential.

He could be the perfect back-up to Lambert.

He's got a year left on his contract so if he makes the grade we can sign him on a free transfer next summer (with the development fee due to Everton of course - that's if they offer him another contract)

If not Lukas how about Sam Vokes on loan from Wolves - another Southampton boy and Saints fan - and another centre forward with potential but still lots to learn. He's not been playing for Wolves and spent time on loan at Leeds this season. Again would be a great back-up to Lambert.

I think Waigo is a good option but dependent on wages/fee etc

Personally i think we need another centre half as it is a long season and Perry is retiring. Definitely a right back, a holding midfielder is a must as we really lacked here and then a tall physical forward.

My signings would look something like this

(one of)

Tamika Mkawwandra - 250k

Trotman - free

Beevers - 400k

Right Back -

Shaeleum Logan - 250k

Centre Mid -

Mullins - 400k

Trotter - 400k

Right Mid -

Adamoah - 200k

Antonio - 250k

Striker -

Vokes - 500k
