Brown calling someone a biggot today must have sent them into over drive. Btw the guy from the mail who does the paper review on ssn on Tuesdays has to be one of the biggest idiots in football. Saint_lambden Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Pardew must like him- he was prefering Hayden to Mascherano at W.Ham in 06/07. Plenty of experience but not really the type of midfielder we're looking for and £1 million would put huge pressure on him to do well especially as he's currently a skate. Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 A sound replacement for Wotton. A strong DM. And nothing says F-you to your local rivals then you being able to sign a player from them for a seven figure sum while being two league below. Matthew Le God Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 (edited) £1m for a 31 year old is never going to happen. Would be a very good signing if much cheaper. Edited 28 April, 2010 by Matthew Le God
Andy_Porter Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Would be a decent signing IMO. Would be happy to have a rotation between Mullins, Schneiderlin and Hammond with possibly a more attack minded midfielder brought in as well. Offers the experience we will need to help pull Lallana, Morgan and Puncheon through some niggly games.

The Kraken Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Rubbish paper talk on the value. Pompey have, in their ridiculously inflated valuation of their squad, put him at £1M. In no way whatsoever will we pay that much. Decent signing at a knockdown price, which is what we'd look to go for. And just because he's played for them down the road, it doesn't mean he's a skate. Do we have to go through this tedious rubbish every time? Crouch and Fuller had to put up with needless sh!t before they proved they more than up to it, why do it again? Saint_clark Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 For under £500k he would be a good signing, but we could get better with that amount of cash.
Appy Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Between 200k-500k would be a great shout, but as stated there are younger and quite frankly better players that we could get for a million.
Saint Mikey Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Would be a good signing for about 250K-500k. Over that and I'd be thinking we could get better for the price. No-one, is going to pay a mill for him.

The Kraken Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Let's not forget what wages Mullins will be on. First lets consider that he's been part of the insane revolution down there that has allegedly seen such luminaries as John Utaka on 80k a week. Then previously Crouch, Defoe, Johnson, Krancjar, Muntari, Diarra et al have been on God knows what. Who knows what Mullins is on, but it's bound to be way in excess of our higher earners. And he's not even out of contract, so can just sit on his arse and see out his contract for many thousands per week. I'd say that, unless he fancies a challenge at a lower level, our price structure just won't fit in with hi,
Crab Lungs Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 200K tops, no way a £1m player. I'd dread to think of his wage demands too. Plenty knocking around in the Champ and possibly L1 who could be considered but value for money..

BILLY Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 If we could get him for about £400K then I think that would be a great deal. Saint Fan CaM Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 I think we can ignore the £1m - they owe us money that they do not have, so will offer a player plus cash to offset. Watch out for the 'undisclosed sum'. Mullins is one of their lesser players who they can do without - we need a Hammond replacement if injured. Might be true. If he wants to put on a Saints shirt and give his all for AP then that's OK for me as long as he's not a lazy bugger. We would still need a CM playmaker as cover for Schneiderlin though. stevegrant Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 If there is a genuine interest there, we should be looking to take advantage of Pompey's financial situation. They still owe us money, so we should go in with a tiny offer, say £65,000 with the agreement to write off the £35,000 they owe us, making the total value of the deal £100,000. I'd be amazed if they didn't seriously consider it, more important than the short-term cashflow, they'd be shedding a £1m salary from their books. We obviously wouldn't pay him anywhere near that amount, but I'm sure he's well aware he's not likely to find any club stupid enough to pay him that sort of money anymore. OldNick Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 if we pay £1m for Mullins a-p layer who is 31 and just average from a club who needs money and so not in the business to hold out, it is AP out. krissyboy31 Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 I think that the report has caught on to AA's valuation of the player and not the actual price anyone would be prepared to pay for him. Always thought he was distinctly average but that is at Premier League level and may be a good player in L1.

S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 I think if we were signing him for 250k-300k, then people would look at it in a different light. £1m is an extreme amount of money to throw away on someone like him. I would hazzard a guess that the valucation may be from Android, rather than from us as a club - they overpriced all their players in that ''fax'' sent around. get the price down by 75% and it'll be fine. Ken Tone Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 Transfer fee, whether £1million (as if!) or 1p isn't the point with potential signings like this. Wages are the big issue.... and indeed are the reason why very few Pompey players will generate much in transfer fees, since they are mostly overpaid. K. Saint_clark Posted 29 April, 2010 Share Posted 29 April, 2010 I'd like to see Jhon Viafara back. Why was he allowed to leave for free?
