buctootim Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 I didnt believe for a second that the FL called a meeting for the 2nd August, peak holiday time, and 71 Chairmen turned up but NC was the only one who didnt. In fact £50 to a charity to anyone who can demonstrate this.

patred44 Posted 2 August, 2010 Author Share Posted 2 August, 2010 I had a very long telephone call from someone I know to be trustworthy at the club. I will not divulge his/her name, there are a lot of very frightened people there ATM. I did ring 3 other clubs and each one confirmed they had had a letter from the Football League regarding SFC refusal to attend the meeting. Some of the comments were not very complimentary about our chairman and club. I am sure that someone from the press will take this up soon. SaintBobby Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 The claims are clearly libellous. On cross-examination, the bold initial claims turned into something much less dramatic. But probably still untrue. Abysmal behaviour.
St Landrew Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 There was a thing a while ago where Cortese criticised the FL over their handling of the extended parachute payments scheme. It would have been a bit hypocritical of him to sit there and soak in everything they had to say. Indeed. Last season, he was consulted by the Football League on how to get the FL finances under better control. He got quite involved and gave them quite a bit of advice apparently [it's in a Radio Solent interview somewhere] and they acccepted it, as he's considered the financial expert amongst the FL Chairmen. Saint Without a Halo Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 (edited) If Cortese is trying to ensure all at the club do a solid job I am 100% behind him if those that don't like the idea of doing a solid job are frightened by this surely all they have to do is resign! Cortese is entitled to his views on how the league is financed as is any other chairman and he is also entitled to make his views known to other chairman to lobby for support if he is not pleased with the way the league is acting! I see nothing wrong with any of this whatsoever and Indeed I would rather see an active Chairman interested in what is good for my club than one who just follows the flock! Wes Tender Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 If there is a background of several other hints and allegations that are unsubstantiated, then of course a growing incredulity arises and it becomes incumbent on those who perpetrate these rumours to provide more concrete evidence. As it is, several of these posts expressing doubts as to the veracity of these allegations give quite good reasons as to why doubt is sensible. For example, there was the meeting of the FL Chairmen only in June and it seems strange that there should be another meeting that nobody can find details of so soon after. Also strange that in the peak holiday season, all of the other chairmen were able to attend. Although it is alleged that a letter was sent to all of these Chairmen, no copy of it has yet surfaced in the public domain. So yes, Pat or anybody else who seemingly has an agenda against our chairman, does indeed need to provide concrete evidence to substantiate their claims, or else the opinions that they are all bull**** are entirely justified under the circumstances.
