Deppo.

When EVERY other fan posting on the match thread was whining and crying that we'd be lucky to make the play-offs, he posted something along the lines of "Get a grip, you bottlers" and proceeded to lambast everyone for being so negative and having no faith in the team. Don't you wish that all fans could have that kind of spirit?

On 52 minutes everyone was annoyed and commenting on the immediate situation. Up to that point it was a pathetic performance and it was right to say so.

No it wasn't.

We weren't great for the first 52 minutes and couldn't get a shot away, but I thought we were the better team through out the match.

We didn't deserve to be two down at any stage.

I got a text from my friend on 52 minutes.

'Worst first half in ages. Missing pace terribly. Rubbish performance.'

Yeah, SaintBobby - Hypo got a text from a "friend" on 52 minutes which he tranlated into "a pathetic performance". There's no point waiting for the final result before writing people off.

I never wrote anyone off. On 52 minutes it sounded as if we were performing very poorly. My friend sent me a text from the game which confirmed that. I said in the comments of the match that if it stayed as it was it was very disappointing. Obviously after the comeback it was a fantastic win and I said so but nothing wrong with commenting on the match as it unfolds, otherwise we might as well just not have a matchday thread and just comment on the result.

What I get ****ed off with is the attitude of some so called fans that right us off with no, absolutely no experience of actually watching Saints. Yes we could have done better in the first half (god knows I was feeling **** at half time) but half time results do not matter its the second half/full time that matters!

Lets be honest, up until jonno came on we had been sh*t, he changed the game. We created little going forward, no chances but a lot of crossing and shots from distance and caught by a set piece and a counter attack. Hats off to MK Dons for the first hour, kept it tight and caught us cold, if that had been us we'd be praising ourselves for a great away performance. For 20 mins we were great, scored 3, could have had a couple more and then some desperate defending at the end, but a win is a win, we did what was needed and a win on tuesday against a dire Charlton side sets us up nicely for saturday, the right result saturday and we could be second with 2 games in hand :-)

My mistake, apparently we lost.

People need to admit they were wrong to lose faith just because we went behind. It's a 90 minute game and you did an "Alpine". It's worth taking a look at the thread from about page 4 onwards just to remember how important it is to get behind the team rather than resort to virtual booing.

People write off Deppo's posts because he uses humour, but usually, as with this time, he's bang on the money.

I couldn't go today.

Arriving at my mums nursing home it was 0-2. I said to my spurs supporting bil 'we'll win this 3-2, you'll see'

By the time we'd walked up the stairs it was 2-2.

Phone died so didn't Get the final score til on the way home.

I'm with Deppo on this, if you ain't got faith you ain't got nothin.

That was me being negative - we were two nil down, at home (allegedly in a 'must win' game). I don't have radio solent, so have to rely on this forum alone to bouy me - somebody at the game posted that the players looked lathargic and uninterested and that it was shyte. Therefore I reserve the right to be bloody negative - any fan would be - it sounded like a horror show. How many on here would really have put any money on us turning it around - honestly.

Yes I was negative - I apologise - I am a negative ****. Mindy you - Deppo is still a mong (sometimes).

Are you for real, you are talking as though these posts affect the team, now if people were booing the team I would be with you but this is a message board people type what they are feeling at the time, get over it.

Ah humour, some people see it, some people get it and others..

One of the enjoyable things about the match thread is how it has developed it's own little world of in jokes, going back to the days of SNSUN lumping his Parrot through the Camel Toes & the Nuns.

The fact that our lucky mascot was missing today, he as been an absolute rock in the past weeks, Alps pops up, moans and wallop goal for Saints.

And Deppo, the uber joker being mistaken for the uber happy clappy. In actual fact his attempt at entering his usual reverse logic humour simply didn't work today.

Think on Tuesday's match thread we better post a health warning on the OP. "Warning This Thread may contain moments of Attempted Irony" or "Politically Incorrect Images".

Such a broad brush statement to have made, some people. Well in response, I heard some Saints fans on the commentary groaning early in the first half, I also heard them booing when Forte came on and heard groans & boos at half time.

My point wasn't really about saying we were sh*t in the game and writing it off. I can understand some people writing off a game at 2-0 down with half an hour left (although I still don't really see the point of it).

What annoyed me was that people were then writing off our entire season, despite us still being in a very good position for automatic promotion. MK Dons hadn't lost away since January 3rd and are in the mix so just because we looked like we would lose to them, it didn't warrant everyone boo-hooing about our entire season. And they didn't just write off automatic promotion, they wrote off our play-off chances. It was an incredible lack of bottle and faith and a completely predictable reflex of the patella that many Saints fans seem to exercise on here.

I'm with Hypo......from 3,800 miles away I know we were crap until we scored. Couldn't believe how bad the game was and how frequently we gave the ball away. Sammy the Saint texted me to say we were a shower of s***e.

Unfrickin' believable! People not at the game saying how poor we are/were - I can only assume they were kidding because no-one can be dumb enough to say how bad we are without watching. Surely?

In fairness I was there and we were s hit (oh look yet another aimless crossfield pass to no one, fantastic) until Nigel made his inspired subs. Maybe Deppo should have been at SMS getting upset with all the saints fans there who were ****ed off........... I reckon some of the posters on here would still be laughing and smiling as someone fed their

c ocks through a garden shredder ..........Honestly most football fans get upset at being 0-2 down I find the ones that don't to be the odd ones HTBH.

To be fair Alps, I think the boos for Forte were because a lot of the crowd thought it was Barnard's number which had been held up (he even started running off the pitch) before everybody realised that it was an MK Dons substitution first - it died down almost immediately.

Some of the things that have been written on here are absolutely shocking, especially be people who weren't even there. We were nowhere near awful. First half we played some pretty good stuff, just the final ball and a willingness to shoot were missing (Guly being the main culprit although some of the crossing was shocking - looking at you Hammond). Second half, we were much better and Stephens made a great start by showing Chaplow how to pass a ball to a teamate from 5 yards. Not a perfect performance, but for sheer entertainment it was breathtaking and its all about the points now as Walsall showed us. The Stadium was rocking at the end. AL is fast becoming a legend - how we managed to get that kid to sign a new contract is beyond me. He's worth the price of a ticket alone.

On another note, the reaction of the crowd when we went 2-0 down was awesome. It was actually quite a proud moment as a Saints fan - I don't think anybody in the crowd could quite believe we were 2-0 behind, we didn't even deserve to be 1-0 down. The guy who got up in the Kingsland corner and started orchestrating the whole stand and the Northern - my friend, you are a legend.

Have faith. Today was massive. The crowd knew it, the players knew it and the manager knew it and for once it was all as one. Fair play to NA and the players and everybody who went. Fantastic atmosphere.

Absolutely agree with this post. I was in the Kingsland corner today and for me it was the best atmosphere since the JPT semi-final.

I got a text from the ground saying the score wasn't good but we could easy turn it round, and we did.

Today is why they have 'in play' betting, because anything can and does happen. Anyone watching Bompey last night should have believe we could do what we did today

It's why we go ffs; to be able to say 'I was there when.....'

I wasn't at the game today, but listened to the entire match on SaintsPlayer.

Having read all of the above posts, it comes as no surprise that those who regularly diss Cortese and Adkins say we were **** until Forte came on (but then still fail to give Adkins credit for the substitution) whilst everyone else says we were playing well.

Ho Hum, life as usual on here then!!!

It sounded great on the radio. I got so depressed at 2-0 down that I turned down the sound and went off to do some tidying. Couldn't resist of course and came back later just as Forte scored, and as I was writing on the match thread he equalised... The sound of the crowd was amazing; that deep throated roar when people just let themselves go and there's no embarassment about making a noise. The winner.. well, I wonder what the next flat thought! If 22k can make that noise, what will the next home crowd do, and how big do you reckon it will be??

In my opinion it was far from a pathetic performance; it was one of those games were you wonder how we're 2-0 down as we were playing quite well, we just lacked a cutting-edge until Adkins made the changes, and seemed to try to walk it in rather than shoot for some reason in the first half.

I always used to think I was a 'half-empty' sort of bloke but compared to some of the fannies on here I'm positively happy-clappy....

You seem to have completely missed the point I was making. However, you are correct about the garden shredder. I'd bloody love that.
