Miltonroader07 Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 why we invested so much in a player who is a Norweigan International and does not even get on the bench !!

Colinjb Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 Absolutely not. His agent has already spoken out anyway. There is a plan and his lack of action is not a surprise.
Saint Troy Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 6 games unbeaten - ****!!!! Quick!!!!! Change the defense right away!!!!! Even his agent was calm and happy about the situation and how it's a longer term plan than just this season!
melmacian_saint Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 He will be playing more next season. But I do expect him to at least have his debut this season.
sadoldgit Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 At the time we bought him we were desparate for a decent centre half so where does that fit in with a long term plan???
Crazy Diamond Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 Do they have to then explain why every player that has had to wait for his debut has done so?

OfnPanad Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 Not really but it's a bit odd. At the time of the announcement I was sure our CB pairing was Fonte and Forren with Yoshida on the bench. I'm glad Jos has found a bit of form and consistency though - he is a top bloke - very eloquent and humble with lot of time for everyone - a model footballer. Dalek2003 Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 It all seems rather odd. I can't understand it either, unless it is about stability at the back. Maybe he will get a run out when we are safe, but at the moment there is too much at stake to take the risk.
skintsaint Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 5 goals conceded in the last 6 games isnt a bad effort considering how bad we started the season. No need to change for the sake of it.
pangy Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 I read somewhere about 6 weeks ago that Forren said he was so unfit when he joined that he had practically given up on playing this season,he was aiming for a decent pre-seaon and breaking into the team next season Tried to find the article but I can't remember where I saw it

Considering how fit our squad is he doesn't really seem to fit in with our ethos.

adrian lord Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 He must be fit by now, 3 months of Staplewood brutality. I guess it's a case of not impressing particularly on the pitch and our 1st team defence having been tremendous since the window.
The9 Posted 20 April, 2013 Share Posted 20 April, 2013 (edited) why we invested so much in a player who is a Norweigan International and does not even get on the bench !! No, no the club do not need to explain this to the fans. They wouldn't need to do this even if Forren hadn't just been quoted as saying he's not getting a game this season. Oh, and I'm still waiting on a letter from Pardew about what on earth he thinks he's doing putting 3 new players into the back line in one match, with Fonte, Seaborne and Otsemobor at Millwall in 2010, tch. Pilchards Posted 21 April, 2013 Share Posted 21 April, 2013 Boruc was not fit at first and my god he was ****, the problem is we had to play him at the time because Kelv & Gazza were pants. Luckily we've not had to press the panic button in defence.

Suomi Saint Posted 22 April, 2013 Share Posted 22 April, 2013 Yes, and he had a nightmare according to the OS. Strange signing indeed - looks like he was neither NA's nor MP's choice. Another Cortese "Youtube" acquisition it seems.
melmacian_saint Posted 22 April, 2013 Share Posted 22 April, 2013 I prefer Jose to Jos and I demand an explanation from the club as to why the Manager thinks differently. It's all rather strange. Don't say that, you must feel sorry for the new, big Cannavaro who was the fall guy when in fact it were the other 10 players that were to blame for his **** poor level. P.D. I obviously agree with you, I think it's just tactics as MP seems to like playing differently-footed CBs and given Forren is a no-go this season and Hooiveld just drags Fonte into the mud if they play together, then it's got to be him and Yoshida. Jos is outstanding, I mean 3 own-goals in a season, top defender IMO.

eurosaint Posted 22 April, 2013 Share Posted 22 April, 2013 I think that there should be a section in the OS where the manager explains his thinking on every player who is left out on a week by week basis ! Perhaps even the chairman could do the same regarding the running of the business (loans from the Virgin Islands etc..) ? Should this total transparency come about, then all supporters would be fully informed, never have a reason to question any decisions and probably the Saintsweb forum would have to close down ! TBF, this is how it's going to be at the Skate Community Stadium so we will have a perfect model to base it on ....
Mowgli Posted 22 April, 2013 Share Posted 22 April, 2013 To be fair the whole U21 team had a nightmare yesterday. 3-0 up with 15 minutes to go and they draw 3-3!! Hunter not happy and singled out the centre back as very poor in the last 15 minutes. A misjudgment by Jack Stephens led to the equaliser. I have not changed my view on Forren. He came with a good reputation but a combination of needing to get up to speed and the injustice of replacing a centre back who has performed well in a brilliant unbeaten run, has meant he has to wait a while. Bucks Saint Posted 22 April, 2013 Share Posted 22 April, 2013 Maybe, just maybe, the extra CB signing has helped to improve / motivate Jos further, i.e. he was in danger of becoming 4th choice and thus hardly making the squad, never mind the pitch. Ok as its turned out this was a threat more for next season, but hey, what do we care if having 4 potential first team CBs has helped raise the standard overall? The9 Posted 22 April, 2013 Share Posted 22 April, 2013 What sense would there be in unsettling a defence at this stage of the season?! Because it doesn't make the blindest bit of difference what the results are in the last few matches and we want to see players getting experience in what should be a competitive game ? trousers Posted 22 April, 2013 Share Posted 22 April, 2013 If Forren wore the no.6 shirt in yesterday's u21s 3-3 vs WBA then his sloppy defending was to blame for 2 of the goals (from what I could see on the Saints Player footage earlier). Saints were cruising at 0-3 with 15 mins to go.

Saints were cruising at 0-3 with 15 mins to go. For Forren it must be a cultural shock, gone from Champion's League and international football to scrappy kids matches on what looks like a public rec. Looks right porky as well, expect him to be gone in the summer, just doesn't look interested. But for the original question, no they don't need to explain, the Transfer Committee bought a dud that's all, we'll get a tenner back and write the rest off. From now on we need to let Mauricio do the buying of players. Edited 22 April, 2013 by Window Cleaner
