Tbf you were telling everybody on here that his legs had gone in 2022 and his time in Spain was nothing more than a retirement gig, so there’s probably a bit of give and take on either side. CylonKing Posted 6 November, 2025 Posted 6 November, 2025 Genuinely, midfield steel at 34, 43 or WGS would improve this shit arse squad. Has he really, genuinely signed?

He could play with one leg and he’d be good in this league. 2

suewhistle Posted 6 November, 2025 Posted 6 November, 2025 I recall Jimmy Case at a certain age joining us, and as I couldn't remember the dates I checked on Wiki, and will leave this quote there in hopes Oriol will do the same.. Quote Over his six years at The Dell, Case lost none of his bite in the tackle and he made up for any loss of pace by a broadening vision and excellent passing skills. Even in his mid thirties, he was still among the most highly regarded midfielders in the First Division. I'd also add that, as a player from the modern era, Romeu probably doesn't go out on the lash like Jimmy Case did. I heard a story from a Saints supporting taxi driver that he was once observed pissing all over a cashpoint on a drunken night out!

Might be worth pointing out though that Case was a bit younger on signing (still only 30). But he was still playing for us at 36. Hopefully he makes a similar impact for us that Case did. 3
rallyboy Posted 7 November, 2025 Posted 7 November, 2025 I hope he's still got it, though he may be worth the money just for his presence in the dressing room. He should be given full licence to remind the current squad of the minimum standards expected if you wear the shirt. Unleash him.

However, there was way no getting away from the fact that he looked well off the pace in his last third of a season in 2022. We got the best years out of him, he left and found a new lease of life in a less intense league.

Miltonaggro Posted 21 November, 2025 Posted 21 November, 2025 Been thinking this over and a good way to resolve the current manager situation would be through gladitorial combat, tickets for the octagon in the centre circle at SMS at £30 each. Tonda versus Oriol, twelve rounds.

East Kent Saint Posted 21 November, 2025 Posted 21 November, 2025 I wondered if Oriol was in fact clapped out , which is why he is back at Saints. MLT for a short term contract?

The club has shown, with Lallana, that bringing back a former player who has played at the highest level can completely revolutionise the first team irrespective of whether they're fit enough to pull on the shirt. I really hope Romeu isn't the same but it's Sport Republic - their recruitment has been an omnishambles.

Given that both Larios and ABK have both played around 20 games between them, so far this season, is quite a big indicator. We couldn't even get half a game out of Larios. The medical team in my eyes are complicit in the sanctioning/risk assessment of the Ross Stewart situation in the first place. Then they've struggled to get him or keep him fit since.

You said our physio department is 'non league' standard, as evidenced by the fitness of Stewart, Larios and ABK. I assumed you must have a specific reason as to something they've been doing wrong with regards to those players. My 'trying to be contrary' opinion is that Stewart was a known gamble we took a risk on based on his price/ability, Larios has had serious reccuring injury issues and ABK has had little interest in playing for Saints since Ralph left. 1

die Mannyschaft Posted 10 December, 2025 Posted 10 December, 2025 He doesn't improve or settle the team when he comes on. If he's not fit then get someone on who is. Saints are playing with 10 or 9 after the mass subs are done so its not a good decision to put another half pace player on. We cant wait 4 to 6 weeks for any player now to get to whatever the expected level is. Just get a player in Jan window that's already playing and competing on pitch. 4
