Tbf you were telling everybody on here that his legs had gone in 2022 and his time in Spain was nothing more than a retirement gig, so there’s probably a bit of give and take on either side.

I know that. You know that. You only need to look back a few pages on this very thread to find some history of people who were so very keen to say that his legs had gone. Lighthouse, I’m looking at you especially. Not only on here but other threads too.

I recall Jimmy Case at a certain age joining us, and as I couldn't remember the dates I checked on Wiki, and will leave this quote there in hopes Oriol will do the same..

Might be worth pointing out though that Case was a bit younger on signing (still only 30).
But he was still playing for us at 36. 

Hopefully he makes a similar impact for us that Case did.

He should be given full licence to remind the current squad of the minimum standards expected if you wear the shirt.

Sounds like a fun hobby.

I have huge respect for Romeu and his attitude and I’d love it if he can bring a bit of that to the current team. However, there was way no getting away from the fact that he looked well off the pace in his last third of a season in 2022. We got the best years out of him, he left and found a new lease of life in a less intense league.

The club has shown, with Lallana, that bringing back a former player who has played at the highest level can completely revolutionise the first team irrespective of whether they're fit enough to pull on the shirt. I really hope Romeu isn't the same but it's Sport Republic - their recruitment has been an omnishambles.

In all seriousness with Oriol, he hasn't played for a while - so I guess they're building him up. He hasn't shown any injury issues in the last couple of seasons.

I still think our Sports Science/physio dept is another area that is non-league in quality though.

They couldn't get Larios fit, they couldn't get ABK fit (if it was truly fitness), and they signed off on and obviously cannot get Stewart fit.

I wouldn't trust them with my nan's dodgy hip.

Given that both Larios and ABK have both played around 20 games between them, so far this season, is quite a big indicator.  We couldn't even get half a game out of Larios.

You said our physio department is 'non league' standard, as evidenced by the fitness of Stewart, Larios and ABK. I assumed you must have a specific reason as to something they've been doing wrong with regards to those players.

My 'trying to be contrary' opinion is that Stewart was a known gamble we took a risk on based on his price/ability, Larios has had serious reccuring injury issues and ABK has had little interest in playing for Saints since Ralph left.

He doesn't improve or settle the team when he comes on. If he's not fit then get someone on who is. Saints are playing with 10 or 9 after the mass subs are done so its not a good decision to put another half pace player on.

We cant wait 4 to 6 weeks for any player now to get to whatever the expected level is. Just get a player in Jan window that's already playing and competing on pitch.

I haven't written him off but I also haven't written him on. He's clearly not on the pace of the game. Time will tell whether there's a "yet" there.
