Embarrassing, we’ll probably offer him a new contract.

He's made it to the bottom of the list again then, that's some going.

According to an old fossil, statistics don’t mean anything.

Except they do. Especially when they reinforce the eye test. Bazunu is just a very poor goalkeeper for the Championship. Visual inspection picks it out, stats just back up the reasoning.

Surely it's time those running this football club looked at the mounting evidence and admitted City pulled their pants down and we must have a change of keeper. Bazunu is consistently bottom of every statistic going.

That’s what the third time that’s happened now? If Damion Downs is the worst outfield player I’ve ever seen start a game for Saints, Bazunu has to be the worst keeper. I know @Chez reckons Ian Andrews was worse but at least he only played 10 games in 5 years. Was a very promising prospect at Leicester but a big money move to Celtic when the SPL was good (Dundee United in a major European final, winning in the Nou Camp - Paul Sturrock might have scored the winner, and Aberdeen beating Real Madrid in one) failed and destroyed his confidence.

Baz’s career highlight is a mixed spell in L1 for the skates. Got POTS but plenty of errors - check out their home defeat to Ipswich.

Those statistics just show how unlucky Baz is. If Carl Rushworth faced the amount of unstoppable shots Baz faced, he’d be bottom of the list….

He now gets plaudits for making any save - I saw people praising him on Saturday for the ones he did make all were regulation a keeper would be expected to save. Thats how far our standards are in goal have fallen.

I have no faith in him - I see some are missing the point on Long  - we didn’t need a 3rd keeper we needed a number 1 to replace Ramsdale not poor backups McCarthy should be 3rd choice.

Question of those who claim(ed) Baz is “fine” for this league…

why do you say this???

I’ve already openly admitted I said he was fine for the Championship.

The good thing is the goalkeeper position has proven to be one of the ones that needs urgent investment.
I’ve also said before how picking between Bazunu and McCarthy is like being offered the choice of stepping in cow shit or dog shit.

I kind of thought the club was quite stat driven but did that stop a few years ago? Is the fabled Black Box a thing of the past?

The club like things and trends that are hip and new. Stats are probably on the way out, and the Black Box was a Les Reed thing... sooo old

Rasmus is on record of saying our approach is data driven, he also had that approach at Brentford and the Danish club.

Probably the same ones who said our strikers were good enough for the Championship.

And that in a previous life Archer scored ….  in the Championship, Ad nauseam

I think the two are chalk and cheese. One is a very average keeper and the other is not a keeper

I don’t understand how the club can supposedly be “data driven”, yet consistently ignore all of the data and copious evidence that we have a complete numpty in goal.

So disappointing as a fan having to watch this guy fuck up week, after week, after week.

But in fairness, he does have a shit defence ahead of him. Otherwise he'd probably ... nah, still be shit but we might have a few more points.

Can recall Rusty getting all uppity with someone at a fan's forum who dared to question Bazunu's competency and he more or less tried to claim the guy is and would prove to be one of the best 'keepers in the Championship. He might even have added he wouldn't swap him for any other team's 'keeper. This is the sort of arrogance we have to put up with from people like Rusty who try to tell us not to trust what we have seen with our own eyes because he knows best.
