Going by todays training videos, seems like Fernandes trained, as did some of the other 'injured' players THB, Downes, BBD... but no sign of Dibling (unless I just missed him). But the video clearly focussed on Fernandes a lot, just to let us know he's still here, so you'd have thought they'd do the same if Dibling was involved too (given the rumours).

Can't recall a summer window with so few links to incomings which is interesting, perhaps the new setup are more secretive combined with less attention now we aren't in the PL?

In particular recall Joe Shields feeding Fabrizio Romano with lots of updates during his brief tenure as FR was one step ahead on almost every move (still happening by the volume of FR Chelsea updates)

As of now there are barely any credible links so we must be keeping a lot of our plans out of the spotlight - will be interesting to see what emerges.

TBF the Downs link was reported quite a while before he signed. Maybe it's true that the Armenian bloke turned us down and we are interested in donley.

There's a quiz on the OS about minutes in pre-season. Pretty embarrassingly the two with the most minutes are Fraser and Stephens! I think most were hoping they'd be two of the first out the door. 

I missed Smallbone and Taylor (and Bragg and Bipepa), but got all the rest fairly easily. Must've been wishing a few away.

What evidence would you require beyond the manager, owner and chief executive saying we will be making signings? Have you considered the much more likely scenario that we need to sell one or both of the big money players prior to making a big move of our own lest we be stuck with the players if for whatever reason he doesn't end up moving?

Dunno, would imagine that he would be more interested in playing the most amount of minutes at the highest level possible than anything else. Stoke might have given him more assurances over game time over us, or, as you say, we were never really interested.

You're right! It does get a bit silly when you see these huge 6'4" goalies with huge pads literally blocking the goal...but there is a size, weight and agility trade-off. These NHL hockey forwards are so good they can hit a small space only a couple of square inches wide.
My son is a good hockey player...not quite NHL standard...but he can regularly score 'bar-down' goals intentionally (that is goals that go in off the underside of the bar).
Same thing applies with footie goalies - I'm thinking of a certain Fraser Foster here...a giant of a man you'd think would block most shots but anything low to either side! (or high or straight at him for that matter!)

We will spend some. As always, some of the transfer income will need to cover the annual operating losses. Perhaps we ought to pay down some of the debt so we stop spunking £10m a year on interest payments.

Right but the fact it's quiet doesn't mean things aren't happening behind the scenes. I didn't hear much about Quarshie before he signed. It could be we are still working out the kinks for this Armenian or someone else that hasn't been reported on. What percentage chance do you think that we aren't working on deals behind the scenes?

I take it positive that things are quiet, I think we've been leaky in the past - but we seem to be working professionally this summer, not just for media clicks and club propoganda on targets. We all know they've done that in the past to appease the fan base, then they come out with a ''well we tried'' statement.

We will 110% add players, we will lose players too. The better players with the better value come available in the closing weeks of any window, whether that's loans or players we looked at earlier all of a sudden becoming more affordable as clubs panic that they haven't offloaded them.

We'll have lots of options I'm sure.

Eduard Spertsyan is leaving his current club this summer. He has made that very clear. Unfortunately, he has also said his dream is to play in a top league. This is the reason why we haven't signed him yet. He will be holding out for a move to a a club in a top league until that isn't going to happen. At which point we become viable. If he is the stand out option, we will wait. The fact we haven't signed anyone else in that position suggests we may be doing just that.

Right but we have new people doing the transfer negotiations plus we are in a lower league so there's less attention. The idea that we are just sat their with our thumbs up our arses counting down to the end of the window is for the birds.

We've signed two...this window...and many more prior. Hundreds of millions spent (not particularly wisely I grant you). Not cheap. Not just talk.

I'd say a late signing or two are inevitable.

This window was always going to be heavier on the outs than the ins, with the squad we came down with. Two or three more signings before the end of August probably feels about right, so I don't particularly feel that we're behind schedule.

Exactly. Is the suggestion by some of these people seriously that we aren't going to sign anyone? We signed loads of people last time we got relegated and by all accounts we are in a better financial position. Why would we do that?

There should laws for every league that windows for ins and out have to be done 2 weeks  before the season starts..  this would speed up the process no end.  Even if the Turkish window is open they shouldn't be allowed to buy players from leagues that have begun.. and if premier league clubs want to sell to championship clubs and vice versa it needs to done earlier it really is a mess..

Unless I'm missing a reason why this can't happen ??

Other than justifying the existence of Sky Sports News twice a year, what's the point of transfer windows at all? I don't recall it being an issue that clubs could sell or buy players whenever they wanted throughout the year back in the day. Maybe I'm missing something obvious...

Indeed. In fact, didn't one of them say that fans were going to be "very very excited" by our transfer activity this window? (Or have I misremembered them saying that?). I'm still waiting patiently to feel that level of excitement but I trust it's not far away now...
