Wasn't sure if he was 27 or 28, as i saw someone mention 28.

Sorry, just my bad humour trying to reignite the “he’s 28 until he’s 29” twitter argument

The more I look at the squad the more i think we need a reliable RB

Fraser is ok in a 5

But none of our options are good enough for a 4 back

I wonder if we could make a crafty bid for Kyle Walker Peters

2goals last season from 23 starts. He’s 49 years old- looks are deceptive. Will be playing African Nations Cup from December 25 until April 26 minimum. Then need a break. Won’t play in September cos of needing induction. Nor if it’s too cold in November either. Has got three words in English “ Where’s the money” . Aside from that looks like a sound purchase if only SuperSpirs can pull it off. He’s worth about £3m but hopefully we can pay £8m plus add ons. 😵‍💫

Guys, this is all my fault. I tried to order a new Bearsy from Temu.

If he’s played bundesliga recently then he must be extremely capable of playing bundesliga recently. .This is a gewinnen gewinnen both ways. 😁

PS This is not serious it is just for fun. My fun I might add.

I mean, he is 27, so not sure how much potential there is to be unlocked. But I'm not sure it matters - as you say, solid signing, good track record in Germany, 90 under his belt for Lens this season already, and in a position where we currently have very little depth.

If this signing allows Still to play his preferred shape and improves squad depth, I'm all for it.

I mean potential to do well in a new league. Always difficult to know how someone will adapt.

He's a winger who was shipped out on loan by Lens last season to St Pauli, 7 goals and a couple of assists in the Bundesliga. He's not small for a winger, exactly the sort of profile Still would favour. He has played under still, but was mainly used as a sub in the season he had him.

Interesting option as he'd be known by Still and our scouts pretty well.

Probably another £3m signing.  Starting to feel a bit mugged off.

I don’t think he would improve our starting XI.

ah another one of those jokes where you have to explain it. Gotcha

I’ll explain it.

The joke is that because he’s African he lies about his age, is greedy, is lazy, can’t speak English and can’t play in the cold.

It’s pretty sophisticated stuff.

Got excited with all the activity on here we’d signed Spurtstain, only to find we’re linked with another player I’ve never heard of. Bit underwhelming, but hopefully something about him if Still wants him. Though is he any better than Edozie? And on that, do we know why he’s off, does he want to go or is he not part of the plans? Personally I think he’d have done well, I know everyone moans about his final ball but he could beat a player and thought he’d fit into the system. But then what do I know.

https://fbref.com/en/players/79b51257/scout/365_m1/Morgan-Guilavogui-Scouting-Report

Interesting looking at the percentile chart here, he is obviously a physical player who can be a goal threat from wide. Ranks highly for non pen goals and XG alongside off the ball metrics but very low for creative attributes like progressive passes and carries.

A very different profile from Spertsyan and Scienza.

If we can get Spertsyan he would in theory combine nicely with a more physical forward like Guilavogui and someone technical like Robinson behind a striker.

Way too early to judge anything yet, fhe last two weeks of the window are pretty much equivalent to the two months prior. As ever, judge after it shuts.

Damn these You Tube videos.

I am never watching another one, having been wowed by seeing Quarshie run 80 yards in 2 seconds.

Nowhere did it show that he couldn't control a ball or pass it 3 yards to a colleague.

He sounds a bit like a cheap version of Tom Fellows (who is also quite tall).

Ahhh you looked at the highlights video. You need the lowlights video for the compare/contrast 😉

Be great if every player had a shit moments video too - really would be more telling and accurate than the selected highlights!

If Sage holds Guilavogui back…. I'm saying it now, I'm sorry in advance guys… because I'm going to be very, very annoying. More than usual

I almost went into a coma when we exercised the counter-option to buy... at the time I told myself that it was perhaps because they had contacts to sell it more expensively elsewhere, I didn't see any other possible explanation...

Guilavogui's possible departure represents for me the perfect opportunity to turn the page on a certain type of player: those who have no technique. Missed controls, shots off target 9 times out of 10, repeated injuries...

No but it would make me laugh Guilavogui in Southampton, it's hilarious.

They thought they had Spertsyan and ended up with Guilavogui.

not exactly filling me with confidence

Meanwhile Ipswich linked with 17-20 million pound wonder kid and Norwegian international.

They've had a couple of their big sales done and dusted though, we're still hamstrung with a bloated squad and not huge amounts of money to invest.

I think we were expecting a big sale to fund some moves, it hasn't happened yet though. We don't have the money otherwise imo

Yet Dragan stated week ago he sanctioned the purchase of 3 players (identified) not linked to any sales

We could have £37.5 million pounds sitting in the bank from Everton for Dibling.

There's an element of squad management still required though. We need to get players out before we add.

Ipswich have their squad under a little more control. We created an absolute mess last year.

The next two weeks will be telling. I still think we'll make one big sale, and that's when the dominos will start to fall.

Think it’s pretty obvious that’s meant to be Spertsyan and doesn’t need any sales to go through.

I get that, but when the owner was pretty specific about it, in public, you have to take him at face value

Have they made much more than we have? I'm not sure they have. Delap they got much less for and I think they had to pay a sizable chunk of Hutchinson. Fair enough broadhead for 8.7 million but if we do lose Edozie and Aribo soonish we will probably be comparable.

Exactly. People’s suggesting otherwise are just giving the club a metaphorical pass

Yes I get that. I'm just frustrated I think by the lack of any movement in or out. If we lose our best players right at the last minute it's going to be pretty shit, particularly if we replace them with solid but  unspectacular stuff like this.

I think it applies beyond the ‘three’ positions you referenced that Dragan mentioned.

Young, hungry and GUARANTEED to improve

Except he isn’t young even. At 27/28 he should be at his peak and established. Seems to have had a mediocre career to date.

Potentially a signing we’ll end up cursing as not being able to shift in a years time.

Well… That is extremely underwhelming.

A Championship club signing a wide player with 6 Bundesliga goals in 25 games last season isn't underwhelming. We aren't in the Premier League,  so such a player isn't underwhelming any more.

He will alright at best, after a 'period' of settling in, with fans saying 'what do you expect, this is a new environment for him'.

Whilst we wait, we are stuck playing like Tony Pulis' Stoke, with at least 5 defenders on the pitch.

Yep. I'm not sure why people feel we'll be adding to a 31 man playing squad. We need to shift a number of players to free up capital to invest, and wages.

Dibling was plainly the big one to go, that hasn't happened, so here we are looking through the windows in €10 alley.
