We are a disaster of a club at the moment.... We need to clean house but our owner seems to want to keep his cronies in place.

Even with a points deduction I expect us to gain promotion followed by relegation shortly after.

We need a change of culture coupled with new progressive people in upper management positions but unfortunately all we do is rearrange the deck chairs.

Sadly (and I do actually mean sadly), so many clubs have fans feeling like that right now ... Leicester, Saints, Hull, Sheff Weds, Man Utd (!?) immediately come to mind, but there are more.

Fit and proper persons owning clubs, right? It's all a joke. All these charlatans ruining clubs around the country. Clubs that are supposed to be the heart and soul of the community, not a toy or commodity for parading in east Asian betting markets.

Looking at this thread, twitter posts and polls it looks like Still is the fans preference out of anyone who has been linked or mentioned in betting odds - which is a good start for getting the positive feel back into the club.

I'm more optimistic than I was this time two years ago.

Not many against him (and suspect some of those are wind up accounts).

No guarantees, and it is natural to have doubts but genuinely feel we are approaching next season  with a decent manager and strong basis of a team.

Where's our strong basis of a team? Assume you aren't refering to our players 🤣

If Mr still ends up another SR disaster the media are going to have fun with the headlines

"Southampton will still have to sack yet another manager"

"Southampton will still be relegated"

"Southampton will still be wishing they chose rock and rohl"

Boom boom You get the idea

There are some miserable posters on here. 😂

Anyone think it might be a good idea to just get behind the manager, be a bit excited.

You can’t fault Dragan since he took back some control and ushered people to the sides. New technical director. New scouts and scouting network being built. No needless overspending midway through last season. Identity of how the TD sees the squad playing. Helps narrow down managerial appointments and players signings. Confirmed to be having a clear out of the deadwood - and there’s a lot of it!

There seems to be a plan happening.

I am still concerned by Pilchards "Twist?" post and his lack of response....🙃

Perhaps he meant twist as in “let’s go, let’s turn the card”? More likely he’s lying at the foot of his spying tree next to the Marchwood bypass, groaning in agony after twisting and falling out. 🤔🙁

Even if he gets us promoted some people will still slag him off.

Boom boom.

Correct. I think he was a victim of someone bullshitting him, or at least overplaying their hand of what they actually knew.

To be fair to him, he mentioned the (dreaded) name Nathan Jones as someone Rasmus had approached months before he actually joined.

Other than that though, don’t remember much else.

Wasnt that a Beatles hit...it please please me if youget RM although he could be a masterstroke. You have still the best midfield in the Championship presently

Ahhh ... "Pease, Please, Please" was a James Brown hit from 1956 and 1964. It was featured in his epic performance on the TAMI show--which includes the never-ending "collapsing-on-stage" shtick. Classic!

I knew a guy who got his testicles twisted like a set of iPod headphones and needed surgery to open up the bag and get them all untangled.

Uh oh! Is this what Pilchards was talking about??? It would be so SR.

If you dredge the Internet for long enough you'll be able to find an article saying we're set to appoint Mick Harford.

Post the link up and shit yourself about that too.

Thanks for that great insight

It's true though, how on earth do you even try to predict how this will go?

We've lumbered from manager to manager under SR, I couldn't call this one. I'm sat truly on the fence.

I don't know enough about Still to be sure either way to be honest, and added to SR's choices in the past it's really, really hard to know what to expect. And that's putting a positive slant on it.

So true. It would also be interesting to work out how much a city like Southampton loses out by the club dropping down a division.

11 out of the current premier league have betting companies sponsoring their shirts. Football and betting have become synonymous. I'm more concerned with clubs having no affinity with the fans which is why I liked Ralph so much. Got the impression he cared about the club.

That would not be good. I know Watford are a nutcase club, but that’d be a big drop off from Still, Rohl, Cooper etc. I thought Still was more or less over the line?

I must admit the lack of updates re Still has me worried. He will have plenty of suitors.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Cleverly.

I bloody would! 😅

He would be a hard sell to the fans and need one hell of a start to build credit.

If we go from Still or Rohl to Cleverley that might be the straw that breaks the camels back for me.

What updates are you expecting?

I thought the last word was that he would be at the game on Sunday. It's only Thursday. Are you expecting some sort of communication every day / hour to confirm he's still going?

Maybe a post showing which route he'll be taking in his pope mobile?

Ask for a refund on my season tickets which I should have held off renewing. Had enough of bad decisions by the club hierarchy - this would top it. Hopefully they will appoint Still though and this is all hot air

What updates are you expecting? We’ve already been told it won’t be confirmed until the season is finished.

The Everton article as MLG pointed out is old news (probably from last week)

The other snippet though is from tonight, but I don’t see any alarm here. Have to wonder if the club are happy and have enabled this to be leaked so after the Cleverly smokescreen there is a wider acceptance of Still coming in.

I’m pretty indifferent to both of them to be honest. Certainly no idea how good or bad Cleverly is, or could be , not really had a great opportunity to test himself.

A week or so ago Still was largely dismissed on here as well.

Why the fcuk has Cleverley shown up at all??  He has no ties with either club, and surely he doesn't believe it would help his chances to be appointed first team manager?

Yes, I remember that. Pilchards put the name on here in the summer.

Perhaps he fancies rebuilding his career at an U21 level with City. Many coaches have done well out of that association.

Probably a few people there that may not solely watch the game, but have a chance to talk and connect.
