My local team where I live! Have been to a few home league games this season, exciting times for them. Think I am right in saying they have never been this high before.

My niece lives there and couldn't get a ticket so she paid for a live stream! She's also a U's fan (Cambridge..) so hoping for them too and keeps an eye out for Saints' results to say the right things to me. 🙂

Poor from the commentator. I was expecting him to work this into it: “ Lisa Stansfield, Gracie Fields, Cyril Smith , we’ve given your boys a beating ..”

They probably don't need the reminder about Cyril Smith beating boys.

Chelsea v Leeds a bit boring after saturday ! Chelsea players put a bit of effort in for a change ( bet Liam is fuming) too many Chelsea players arguing the toss when penalised Neto one of the worst offenders , perhaps a few yellows would have sorted them out ? Leeds had the chances but not a reliable striker , Calvert-Lewin just not converting chances as at Everton . Overall a bit boring to watch Chelsea tippy tappy , can't see them beating City .

Too much dramatics from the Chelsea players for my liking. Dropping to the pitch and thrashing about as if they had been shot. Pathetic. Refs want to dish out a few more yellow cards for the drama queens. Wasn't there some mention of a sin bin being introduced into football for the divers? I would hate to see too much of anything US based infiltrating our football but it might be what's needed. City will find beating Chelsea a sight easier than beating us.

Lad just did his ACL - unless there was a prior incident during the match, the Wolves fans calling him a wanker and a shit cunt seems needless and rather unpleasant

Jeez. What happened to applauding off an injured player, indicating a hope for a quick recovery?

I believe Sholing are Division 7 and Winchester City Division 8.

Thanks.

Good luck to Winchester in their playoffs.

This presumably is the same Winchester club that Saints signed Terry Paine from.

I had a read about the club on Wikipedia. Interesting to see they were formed in 1884. Seems strange that Winchester had a football club before Southampton.

The thing with that is he's being take off (properly) so clearly he's injured. Hope he recovers.

Do bear in mind we see quite a lot of rolling around at SMS where people then miraculously recover, and they get a load of shit so (apart from the fact the lad's being carted away) there may be some people who equate a) with b).

This is not meant to exonerate anyone from Wolverhampton, btw.

Their fans up there with the bestest. Nathan publicly identified and criticised them for it.

Winchester City will stay where they are for next season the league below Sholing after losing their semi final at home to Shaftesbury 0-2. Like all the non league it is a one off game.

Then again, based on other Wolves fan behaviours, probably not surprising. AA would be advised not to miss any sitters from 5 yards up there

Is he stuck in a glass box? Let him loose, burn off that energy on the bouncing twerps.

Main conclusion from watching the Arsenal game tonight is that VAR has turned the top level game into an utter farce. It's made diving at the slightest contact far worse and regularly means spending several tedious minutes waiting for the officials to make a decision on handballs that wouldn't have been given in a million years before VAR. Makes me more doubtful about  possibility of Saints going back into the Prem, it's been refreshing to be out of the madness for a while.

The FA Cup game at the weekend was farcical with the offsides, delay delay delay, flag up. I cannot stand the premier league, but you have to want to be in it. I don’t watch the champions league either, but very big on my non league footy. 😊

Yep, been to a fair few National League South games at Worthing this season. Quality obviously lower but refreshing to see the game played closer to how it should be. Decisions made by the officials wrongly or rightly but generally it's accepted and you can enjoy the key moments without waiting long periods for someone else to make a dodgy interpretation of the rules.

European VAR seems to be getting penalty decisions wrong , I didn't think PSG or Bayern 's penalties should have been given and last night 2 more dubious penalties given and one seemingly genuine one not given ! This is turning top level football finals into a lottery . The rest of the PSG game was excellent though !

Yeah I go and watch Carlisle United. They have some cracking games. One-off play off semi on Sunday v Boreham Wood, who came but last season from the National League South. They beat the favourites in the playoffs and a team I have an eye on Torquay on their way to Wembley and promotion. This season Torquay went into injury meltdown and their title hopes vanished as we watched Worthing go up. But a semi final against Dorking will see a final, but it will not be easy against that lot! I fancy Hornchurch they are a strong outfit, but you never know in these playoffs!

Oh and 4 points separating 2nd and 9th in the national league south is crazy!

I wonder what excuses Eddie will throw out before the season finishes.

There wasn't enough oil to grease enough wheels.

Will be interesting to see what agreements they came to. The -15 is a given but whether they avoid the wage cap remains to be seen.

Apparently not now.

I think I just heard on GSS that they won’t be docked 15 points next season in league 1.  Must admit I’ve mixed feeling about whether they actually win another match today. I was enjoying the fact that their only league win of the season was at Fratton Park…..😀

Shoutout to Sheffield Wednesday for finishing on a grand total of 0 points 👌🏻

And no deduction next season

From bbc today:

The EFL confirmed the news on Saturday, and said it would not impose a 15-point deduction on the club following its exit from administration as this has been "an incredibly challenging and complex situation for all parties".

Sources have told BBC Sport that former owner Chansiri rejected or simply did not respond to multiple offers for the club, which the EFL took into consideration when choosing to waive the 15-point deduction.

As part of the agreement, Wednesday will remain under budget restrictions for the next two seasons as part of the "conditions of continuing membership in the EFL" but they will still be permitted to sign new players.

normally a -15 point penalty for exiting administration without a cva.

Fair enough tbh. The bloke was an absolute chancer of the highest order. Their fans have been through enough.

The L1 playoff chase was very close in the end.

Stevenage snuck into 6th, leapfrogging Luton and Plymouth with an injury-time winner against Wigan. They will play Stockport, who started that day not guaranteed to even make the playoffs but ended up third, scoring in the 98th minute against Barnsley to make it 3-1.

Wow just seen all that, mad stuff.

Plymouth had a similar start to the season as us, the owner came out and publicly backed Tom Cleverly and from then on they’ve pushed up the league.

Unfortunate not to make the play offs but puts them in good stead for next season.

Same goes to Luton and Jack Wilshere, plus they got a trophy to their name.

Saints won and have a home second leg, Torquay beat Dorking 4-2 and talk of the final v Hornchurch being at Brisbane Road as Hornchurch’s stadium will be grossly inadequate. Torquay would probably fill that stadium. Will be swapping places with Exeter City within a couple of seasons, Exeter in huge trouble and heading into non league again over the next year or two. Gulls getting 6k plus gates in the sixth tier.

Indeed. I don't think anyone could seriously argue they will have gained a sporting advantage.

Plymouths change in from from around December partly coincides with them ditching 3 at the back

I expect it's him getting thrown out and not just his excuses which will all centre on Isak.

My grass roots team is Guernsey who have reached the playoffs in the Southern Combination Premier league. Had a nice win yesterday and hoping for the same in the final. It's turned out to be a good season all round. Such a long time since it happened I had forgotten how good it feels. COYS! and COYG!

Hibs v Celtic, Hibs down to 10 men (after a ridiculous tackle) equalise with what looks like a blatant handball. The look on the blokes face when the long VAR check confirmed the goal tells it all, even he couldn’t believe it. Remember, if it’s the goal scorer it doesn’t matter whether it was accidental, came off another part of his body, was too close, or in a natural position, if it hits the goal scorers hand, it’s handball…
