That penalty is one of the worst decisions of all time.

In an era when refereeing incompetence is accepted as part of our daily routine, those guys today really have made the likes of Kevin Friend and Mike Dean just look like normal people who were unfortunate on rare occasions to make honest mistakes.

Astonishing that rather than sorting out the huge fuck-up, VAR doubled down on it.

How exciting was that VAR delay! The tension was unbearable I can only imagine what it must have been like inside rhe stadium not knowing what was going on. VAR has been such a brilliant way to enhance the excitement and emotion of a match day. Can’t wait until we have it back in our lives saints fans!

It's  "in the opinion of the referee" so not actually a mistake. VAR is supposedly not there to re-referee the game so not a mistake by them either.

VAR is not some court of appeal and in theory is only there to try to prevent the howlers. We all have our opinions as to how that's working out.

So you’re saying if the referee’s opinion was that Player A made contact with Player B but in fact, although contact was close it didn’t actually occur; because it’s the opinion of the referee, the VAR shouldn’t interfere to correct the decision?

So VAR did make a mistake then, because that referee decision was a howler.
 

The problem with VAR is it’s the same idiot referees, they brought technology in because referees are useless, then put the same useless referees in charge of it. It is a classic case of the blind leading the blind…

Ludicrous possibility on the final round of matches in the PL. Brighton or Brentford could be in a position where they could qualify for the CL (in 6th place) only if they lose to their opponents (who are just above Villa in the table, Man Utd and Liverpool), but not if they draw or win! In short, if Villa win the Europa League and finish 5th, and only 5th, then 6th place gets an extra spot for the CL.

In reality players like that are never going to stay at a club like Bournemouth once the big guns come calling. Their long term success will depend on how much they receive in transfer fees and how well they spend it. Every club is a selling club at the right price.

The thought of Bournemouth in the Champions League is utterly a piss take. Bad enough they will probably qualify for the Europa League thing.

Palace and Villa playing weaker teams is hardly a surprise given they want to both win a trophy.

Every team does it.

It just sucks more when it means that Spurs effectively get a free three points.

Don't see West Ham staying up now. They will be tough to beat in the Championship next season.

Spurs are like the Everton of yesteryear in that they hang around the relegation zone and make it out by the skin of their teeth in the end. I'm sure they will hit their stride eventually and make it back to the top spots. I think Chelsea will be the next 'big club' to have a season like this.

Not quite done yet but West Ham's last 3 do look tougher. They probably need to somehow get something in home game v Arsenal.

I hope so. Chelsea are very easy to despise, and rightly so.
