I don't know him, at all, but Charlie Taylor played 160 games in the PL, so I'll reserve judgement until I have seen him, up against someone with a bit of pace and talent. Sugawara has been terrible, so really pleased to see us try again at the position.

I don't think anyone is expecting him to be better than KWP, or were expecting us to signing anyone who was as good as KWP. This guy is a completely different profile to KWP too.

I think we all appreciate that having KWP last time out in the Champ was a bonus, a ridiculous bonus. Those levels of players don't often operate in the Champ. We got lucky he stuck around.

What's not to like? Not every player can be a world-beater. Pretty pleased with this.

We're enthusiastic because Sugawara is hopeless, Bree is mediocre, even in the Championship, and this bloke seems to have DAJF Brentford getting promoted from this division.

Love this signing and pretty sure he'll be our best defender by a distance. He comes across as a really good team guy and seems 100% committed to being the best he can so looking forward to him slotting seamlessly into the side and making us more solid at the back.

Super bonus signing right out of the blue so credit to the recruitment team for getting this over the line with minimum fuss. Brilliant stuff!

He only had one year left, plus had a loan option last season with VfL Wolfsburg at £5.6m. I'd guess we paid something in that ballpark.

Hoping  he emulates the solid RBs of Richardson & Butterworth from a past promotion team. Neither spectacular but did a great job.

And later playing 34 games for them in the PL the season before last, and quite a bit last season. He's versatile too.

You've gotta be a bit of a miserable bastard to be disappointed by this signing.
