Wow ,never heard of him either,nor the fella from Boro,mind you i wasn't paying too much attention it has to be said on teams performances in the championship last season,so lets see,another potential......!! hope hes not another Lesley from Chelsea type effort. Surprised Aribo not being  touted for a move/loan back to that well known footballing giant Rangers,(RM) what a job hes doing up there BTW...

In fairness, we signed Matty as a 'future promise' kind of signing, he came highly rated after a loan to Estoril, but really having only played in the Sporting U21s.

We're really going all in on the idea that Bundesliga 2 promise is better value than Championship promise. 

Financially, I'm sure it makes sense - there's some outrageously overpriced dross in England. But does cheaper mean better on the pitch (where it actually counts)? 

Good luck to him. Whoever the fuck he is.

This is the kind of signing I was expecting Spors to be making all summer. Hopefully he makes a better immediate impact than Damion Downs.

Agree with this and he may well offer more dynamism and flair to the role that certainly Downes doesn’t bring - i.e. I think Still has had to settle with Downes and his lack of a pass forward - one of the players steeped in Martinball and finding it difficult to adjust to the new demands. Must admit, never heard of the guy, but that’s not to say he’s not the next best thing.

Very good point. Most of the best championship players - the ones we might want to sign now like Azaz, Rudoni - were `future promise' before they joined their current championship club and shined.  

Looking at his recent history, he started pretty much every game for 1.FC Nuremberg. Not all the players we have been linked with have been regulars, which is a slight concern if they are not playing in the top leagues.

Maybe it's just monoglot me, but it's not the "being on Reddit" bit that bothers me, more the "being in German".

Watching his youtube video of when he played for Duisburg, he's very right footed, and I mean only right footed.

He loves to keep the ball that little bit longer than normal - and I mean that in a good way - he is very comfortable with the ball.

He seems to roam around the pitch (appears deep and makes runs beyond), so isn't a defensive holding player, but he will drop deep to collect and start moves.

He doesn't look like he is a big physical specimen or a good tackler, he's more of a Fernandes type - a ball player, with good technique, that can dribble and pass. 

He's a fun watch.

I think players that score volleys are usually very good technically, so I like the first goal too.

This is the pool we’re having to fish in due to relegation and limited funds. I just hope the scouting department is geared up to better find the gems more often than not. 
 

Unfortunately the step up to premier league is getting bigger so any promotion would mean a huge outlay to try and stay up.

Not easy to find gems that bigger clubs gazump you on, so this german league 2 knowledge we see to have may be fruitful, at leats for a while. Time will tell.

A lot of these names are striking me as players that Still had identified at his previous club and asked Saints to take a look at since coming in.

What with big clubs hoarding U21s, tempting players to join even at that stage, it’s extremely difficult to try a build a squad to challenge for promotion and then provide a platform to stay up.

Im playing 5 a sdie tonight and wonder if anybody wants to do a tiktok of my class, I may get a transfer to Everton or WHU on the back of it, ok Im 65 but still with careful editing I could look pretty decent. (no its not walking football, )

The guy is obsessed with football at all levels and loves his stats. I can absolutely imagine he looks closely at the 2nd divisions of the major footballing countries for hidden gems.

and/or employs scouts and analysts to do the same. 

I might be wrong, but it feels like managers and head coaches are involved less and less in the scouting/recruiting side of things. The focus is on the players they have and the games/opponents coming up

Again, no one has heard of him but someone put a scouting type report on the transfer thread and if accurate he looks very good. tipped to make the German squad within 2 years. Not a sexy signing but appears to be another good one

Had a good feeling from the beginning, data and development was already top. One of the most important players currently and I dare the prognosis: In 2 years national player - translated from one German forum

Our chief scout Tim Lederer, worked at Hoffenheim last season. Johannes Spors will also know the German market.

Completed 9/9 long balls attempted in his last match so will fit in to the system well. Brilliant tackler and dictates play from deep. Just what we need in the middle and some proper competition for Downes at last.
