Saint_lambden Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Onwards we go then. I think most would have taken 4 points combined from Sheff Utd and this one beforehand but now we have a win, it would be a big disapointment to not follow it Tuesday's success with another here. Derby just 1 win in their opening 8. Eustace sides are not pretty to play against but we should have the confidence and ability now to kick on and beat them. Potential only change to the team might be Fraser in for Azaz. 2-0 Saints.
saintant Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Take a point but a win would be great. Stewart's performance tonight should have them worried.
whiteleySaint30 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Still waiting for my tickets. Is anyone else or have you all received yours?
AlexLaw76 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Any chance we can score from our first shot on target??? 1
Danbert Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I'd start Wee Man and keep the same backline and goalie. I hope Stewart can cope with 2 games in a week. COYS! 1
tttdcs Posted October 1 Posted October 1 If anyone has ONE spare please email tttdcs@icloud.com 👍 Thank you

He looked absolutely knackered when he came off last night. Maybe WS should have made the sub earlier because he ceased to be of any use to the team effort at least 10 minutes before finally being hooked. It might not have been such a nervy finish if we had some fresh legs up front to keep Utd pegged back a little more. But that said, I think he needs to be starting every game now if he's fit enough. Last night we finally got to see the player we all hoped we were getting 2 years ago and there's nobody else in the squad who can offer that kind of contribution. 5

sockeye Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Another must win to build some confidence in the team really. 2
Lighthouse Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Back to back away wins would be a big statement. I'd still like to see a back four with Jelly and Mads as the full backs. Hopefully Stewart has at least an hour of this game in his legs. 1

Don't get me started on that, bought 6 tickets, that's ONE transaction and one envelope to post and yet £9 in booking fee, it's an absolute joke 3 1

It's a tricky one, Stewart has to start again doesn't he, but would hate him to pick up an injury, aim to play first half or 60 mins then switch it up anyway. Eustace will 100% have them set up deep looking for us to lose the ball and hit us on the break, re-run of Hull so we could do with getting first goal and don't walk into the trap.
Football Special Posted October 1 Posted October 1 3,100 sold out away end going up for this, excellent following 👏 7
Jack Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Just watched their highlights from last night and they looked pretty open defensively against Charlton. Their last 5 they’ve drawn with Charlton, Wrexham and Ipswich, and lost 1-0 at WBA and Preston at home. No rollovers, but also not very good 1

Anyone else have same problem on Samsung mobile? Had this all season. If choose automatic it tgen gives 2 tickets not in same block so end up calling ticket office but that stupid band announcement/ticket master means takes ages to get answered and remains seats sold out. Think all aways games will sell out.

Dman Posted October 1 Posted October 1 They'll be without BBD, which is a real shame as that is an obvious weak link down 1 side. They're a realtively poor side. Should be a comfortable win if we can find our feet infront of goal. Has to click at some point... doesn't it? a win and the world certainly looks a lot healthier going into the international break. 2 1

for_heaven's_Saint Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I’d still like us to find a way to make 4 at the back work so we can get more of our best attackers in their natural positions. I’d also like to see Still make substitutions that change the game in our favour. For me, the definite names on the team sheet should be: McCarthy, Wood, Jander, Stewart and Armstrong. All the rest are up for debate imo, including who plays with Jander. 1

stfrancisofbenali Posted October 1 Posted October 1 6 draws last night out of 8 Championship games. No one is running away with it this year.

Willo of Whiteley Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Having come from behind to beat Sheffield United away, there should be no excuse for not beating Derby. They’ve started very defensively and very slowly.

Wade Garrett Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) The Rams? Let’s ram it up their fucking arseholes. 3-0, Stewart hat-trick. Met a few people from Derby, they’re like people from Nottingham apart from the fact that they’re fucking boring. Had more exciting nights watching Housewives shite with my missus. Edited October 2 by Wade Garrett 11
OneMrsWallace Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Drop Azaz to the bench. Otherwise, let's friggin take em down. 2-1 Saints just cos we usually concede one.

Can't see why Shea Charles is not on that list, you clearly reckon that he doesn't fit with Jander but they'll only develop a partnership by playing together !

True, but I also thought Downes and Jander worked really well together at Anfield. If it’s Charles again I won’t be upset though- he’s had a good start to the season. I’d love to see us find a formation that can fit all 3 of them in and allow us to play with a proper attacking front 3 but probably not going to happen.

Hope not too many changes if any,but there has to be a spot for JS and THB?..............or should they be considered as squad back up players? THB has just dropped off a cliff with his performances . I think last years lesson in the prem had a big affect on mental fragility for a lot who were picked week after week only to slump and get battered. But then an awful manager with zero plans when things don't go right weren't exactly an ideal or practical solution. Well at least there are shots of recovery beginning to show, just cut out a few too many negative passes for the sake of passing and were be OK i think.

Why not Downes and Shea at CM; Jander replaces Azaz as the 10 , with Scienza as a back up. Arma, Stewart and Fellows.? 1

BARCELONASAINT Posted October 2 Posted October 2 It was great to get the win on Tuesday but it was against Sheff Utd who have 7 loses and 1 win this season! I'm not getting carried away or fooled by the extended highlights i saw of the game. We are still very poor in patches and when we are the team on top we are not being clinical enough in the final third. I'm hoping the win on Tuesday lifts everyones confidence and the players start to believe in themselves a bit more and really go at Derby, otherwise we will end up with another Hull result!
saintant Posted October 2 Posted October 2 7 minutes ago, austsaint said: Why not Downes and Shea at CM; Jander replaces Azaz as the 10 , with Scienza as a back up. Arma, Stewart and Fellows.? Yeah, good shout that. Could well work because Azaz has not been what we expected so far. Would also like to see Fellows moved from wing back as you suggest because he's wasted there - with Stewart getting the big confidence boost of scoring two goal we need to be supplying him with chances from both flanks. 1
austsaint Posted October 2 Posted October 2 16 minutes ago, RedArmy said: Because it doesn’t work. I know that’s a point of view on sections of the forum; but I question it. Downes at this level is in the top bracket of midfielders. Charles likewise. There’s no reason to think they can’t combine in CM. I don’t know whether Jander has played the attacking mid role before, but everything I see of him suggests he can. Thus far, Azaz has been a dud; no denying his record at this level is good, but he just doesn’t look to be the player we need. I suspect he was third choice, at best, attacking 10 recruit. Still has shown the capacity to make changes and act on what he sees on the pitch. This might be another opportunity to fine tune the starting 11 for the better.

Just because they are the “top” doesn’t mean they work well together. Lampard and Gerrard were “top” but couldn’t play together for England. I’m not against what you are suggesting but just pointing out where you could go wrong. 1
danjosaint Posted October 2 Posted October 2 So why not a 4141 Mc Jelert Wood Quarshie Man Downes Fellows Azaz Jander Scienza Stewart Plenty of options then Charles straight in for Azaz, Robinson/Fraser for Scienza, Roeslav for Jelert who would swap to Lb instead of Manning , Arma for Fellows then Archer for Stewart 2
