The system is working / not the issue and it is getting better and better.

Just to cut and paste from the last couple of games.

Expect 3 at the back, expect Fellows to maybe play RWB and possibly Manning at LWB. Reckon Downes may come in and rinse and repeat

Can see Downes, Stephens, maybe every Quarshie reinstated into the team, because let’s face it, he definitely isn’t switching from three CBs.

Got a couple of days training to further practice slowly passing it across the back line and back again.

They’re in the relegation and in dreadful form, so I think we’re going to need to bolster our defence, maybe add an extra CB just to make sure.

Keeper (Either one, I don’t care)

 Wood       THB      Manning

Fraser                     Edwards                Welington

Downes                  Charles

Jander

Armstrong

I know it’s risky but it’s worth a try.

Let’s be honest, who cares? Feels like this season has already passed us by. We won’t even sniff the play offs without a striker.

Surely bazanu can make the team too, playing as a sweeper.

I’m going but think it might be a better afternoon looking for and counting the famous 4,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire , than watching Saints.

I fully expect us to lose this aswell, a team could be bang out of form and still benefit from us gifting them a few goals, we will probably focus on tightening up whilst forgetting we also need to show some threat at the other end, and lose 1-0. One thing I’ll guarantee- we won’t win .

Oh no you don't.

When you're up to your armpits in shit, the last thing you do is take a dump.

Expect Stephens for Edwards.

It should be 4-2-3-1 though. With Leo Azaz and Fellows as the 3 that should be more than enough to create chances.

100% this with Jander and Charles in the 2, back 4 of jelert Wood Quashie Wellington or Edwards if Jelert not fit and up front .....well someone

I'd go to 4-2-3-1 as I think the key to getting out of this rut is going to be getting Scienza, Fellows and Azaz on the pitch and in the final third at the same time. I hear the criticism of Azaz and some of it is pretty fair, but he has proven it with Boro and with Plymouth and has back to back double-digit seasons for goals and assists. We need to find a way to get him going and that's on the coach

We've committed £15m on him and don't have any other No. 10s in the squad, so he needs to bed in and find his feet quickly

So I'd go for...

McCarthy

Roerslev
Stephens
Wood
Manning

Charles
Downes/Jander

Fellows
Azaz
Scienza

Armstrong

-

Reasoning...

Defence: get your experienced heads in there, take Edwards out of the firing line now and keep Quarshie watching. THB can play instead of Stephens if you prefer but I think Jack gives you more leadership and personality (yes, I know...)

Midfield: I like Jander but his slack passing has cost us about three times now? Flynn is experienced and a bit more 'streetwise' in the Championship. Wouldn't drop Shea Charles, so it's up to you if you want Jander or Downes here

Forwards: Archer is a dead weight so sack him off, get Fellows and Scienza where they should be (out wide and running at the full backs) and put Arma up top because he's the only striker worth anything if the ball comes to his feet in the box or 1v1 (even if he can't lead the line well and it's not his best role)

Find a way to become more transitional when we're attacking. Get the ball into Azaz early and try and get Scienza, Fellows, Armstrong running into channels and beyond the defensive line

That's all I've got but it's what I'd do at this stage

Trust the process etc

THB needs dropping again after tonight, and we don’t need 3 CBs anyway. Don’t really care, this season is a write off already.

I would freshen it up a little.

Mccarthy

Edwards Wood Quarshie Manning

Downes Charles

Fellows Azaz Scienza

Armstrong

Surely a big ask for Wellington to play 3 games this week, freshen it up in midfield and get Fellows and Azaz on the pitch.

not ideal having Armstrong up there, but get Azaz closer to him.

Just go attacking.

Mccarthy; Roerslev, Wood, Quarshie, Welington (if fit); Charles, Jander, Azaz; Scienza, Fellows and Armstrong.

The front three in rotation with Azaz just behind should destroy Blackburn, but we know this isn’t clicking at the moment.

Good fortune in whichever you decide.

Excellent supporter, I'll give it a miss as save on 3 longer trips is almost a season ticket for leaque 1 next season. Although Saints will still be very expensive. Wanted to do Blackburn as last time there won in cup 1984, huge support and great football. Plenty empty Blackburn seats back then

This seems so obvious to me. I don't why we're not doing it.

The blame for any major errors lays squarely on Nathan Wood, not only for the awful goal, but also a lot of sloppy decisions and passes that crept in under 2nd half pressure. To go directly after THB is a somewhat harsh narrative.

I’ve got 2 travel and 2 tickets to this. Please someone take them off me, open to any offer.

Not an easy sell I accept, I just can’t be bothered to go.

First 6 pointer of the season for me. Lose this then the double relegation is well on the cards.

0-0 or 1-1 because that's what we do against shit teams.

Yes Wood had a shocker last night, but he’s been generally good.

THB barely jogging back for their first as they’re breaking, then just stands there 2 yards behind everyone else to play them onside for the 2nd. Kind of flukey goal I know but if he gets out then it doesn’t happen. He generally slows us down at every opportunity and doesn’t look interested to me, and has been that way all season.

Fully expect Stephens to come back in. Wouldn't surprise me if Baz was also back as well. Still continuing to throw shit at the wall in the vain hope that some of it sticks.

Looking at recent form and current league table I'd go as far as saying defeat here could be the end for Still.

Blackburn will certainly battle and were on the verge of beating Ipswich until late abandonment recently

Don't really know an awful lot about them to be honest. No doubt if they are physical we will get bullied in our usual manner. I don't think we have ever had a team of so many physical weak players

I'm predicting we will be 1-0 down with 10min to go and Still will send Stewart on with one good leg and a crutch, given that's a better option than DD with two good legs. We still lose. Of fuck it, who cares - certainly not the players, manager or owners as far as I can tell 🤣
