This indicates to me that a striker is not the end of the pitch we need to be addressing. 21 of our 38 goals came in a 8 match spell in November/December, outside of that spell for the other 18 games we average less than a goal per game. We definitely need a focal point up front. Someone who can hold the ball up and bring others into play. I still think most of the players are no more than average for this division. …despite all those shouting that it was the best squad in the league managed by an idiot. Well we changed the idiot and not a lot else has changed.

Strange one if that comes off, players of his calibre go there to retire, not play when still in their peak.

That’s the kind of dross available in this window. Not many strikers with a shout of playing on the World Cup are not first choice. We need to be looking at free agents or strong arming a smaller club with less means. Obviously this means taking a punt on someone in a less competitive league in Europe but if we pick someone with the right attributes (tall, strong, scores goals etc) and is above the age of 25 we might have a chance of getting someone that improves us. I’d also take Gabbiadini for 6 months. A poacher isn’t so susceptible to age. Agreed, would need to be a loan striker but I've always also thought there are lads in the lower divisions who could be worth a shout. Someone mentioned Alassana Jatta. Got to go for the big strong type so surely worth a look. Someone who can control a ball and run at defences. Chuck a ball at a player and watch their first touch. Someone like Tyler Dibling has a good first touch. The rest (fitness, game awareness, passing etc) can be trained in to them. And how often do players come back and be at the same level as before they left? Forget the JWPs etc. We need to move on. 1
ally_uk Posted yesterday at 07:29 Posted yesterday at 07:29 Yeah that was me I mentioned Jatta, I sent the a.i scouts to find Rickie Lambert type lads and this was one of the recommendations.

Or alternatively we have just finished the first complete week of the transfer window and have got rid of a shit centre forward , a goalkeeper who cannot save shots and have replaced the goalie. SR have a lot to be criticised for and an awful lot still needs to be done (Downs replacement top of the list) but slowness to act in this transfer window is not one of them. None of them have been "got rid of" they will likely be back once the other club decides they are crap too, these 2 are hideous blunders SR have a long, long way to go to get even remotely close to competency and are rightly called out regularly because most expect them fuck up again Edited yesterday at 15:11 by tdmickey3 5 1

Well, let's wait and see what the rest of the month brings. They've used up nearly half their time. We've seen this before from SR and previous owners. We may get nothing more beyond this or some very late panic moves. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but I don't think it's going to be anywhere near enough. Remember - they've stated the ambition is to go back up this season and if they're serious, that's going to require some critical spending in the next 2-3 weeks. Otherwise it's all bullshit. 2

Saint NL Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Not sure the accuracy of these figures, but this claims that Saints have the highest wage total in the division. Coventry apparently have the lowest wage which makes their position even more impressive.

I don't disagree. SR have an awful lot of mess to clear up. Most of it of their own making. I am just pleased that they have got rid (maybe temporarily) of Bazunu and Downes. To do it within the first week of the transfer window is good as I feared that these 2 problems would not be addressed. 1

So of course Coventry are top of this table as they have the most points. Conversely that’s why Sheffield Wednesday are bottom. Pretty pointless table. I guess it highlights two teams that are underperforming in Leicester and us but again that’s pretty obvious. Edited 5 hours ago by SaintsRoyalty 2
