saintant Posted Saturday at 16:29 Posted Saturday at 16:29 We have lost just one game out of 14 since Peretz came into the side in early January. He has made a massive difference. 13
The Kraken Posted Saturday at 16:31 Posted Saturday at 16:31 Bazunu is fine for (staying in) the Championship. 1

skintsaint Posted Saturday at 18:25 Posted Saturday at 18:25 Can see why Bayern brought him in from Israel, probably won't be at Bayern's level but a good keeper indeed. If we ditch Ramsdale and get our money back, €8m for Peretz would be a good deal with some left over to strengthen the squad.
Convict Colony Posted Saturday at 18:26 Posted Saturday at 18:26 Someone better than us wil buy him, too good for us but would be delighted if we can snag him

To be fair, he did protect his near post, first time since joining, but otherwise didn't have much to do. he is still erratic, and still targeted by opposition as a weakness. If the ref had done his job he'd be getting grief on here (or baz would have, peretz has a lot of leeway on here, same as ramsdale and even tailspin mccarthy did, for some reason... Any comments on today pal ? 6

Mboto Gorge Posted Saturday at 19:09 Posted Saturday at 19:09 I am starting to miss the days when Russell Martin confidently brushed off one fans criticism of Bazunu at a fans forum, and said “we don’t have an issue with the goalkeeper”, at which point the room gave him a standing ovation. Incredible scenes. The FAB must’ve had goosebumps 2 5

Great how he came over to the away fans after getting his MotM award. Arguably the biggest position upgrade of all the recent signings. 4
Dan Johnson Posted yesterday at 08:48 Posted yesterday at 08:48 That save yesterday was incomprehensibly stunning. An absolute worldie in arguably our most important game of the season. We concede then, we probably lose, credit where it’s due what a signing he has been! Both January signings have made us considerably better. hes been getting better and better in a saints shirt and you can clearly see why he ended up at a club like Bayern Munich, what ever happens we have to sign him. id rather have him in goal next season over ramsdale, whether we are in the premier league or not. 2

Sadly I think we’re going to have to shift Ramsdale first which might not be easy given he’s hardly ripped it up at Newcastle. Even if we do given his performances for us you can see other teams being interested now. Just got to hope we can come to some agreement with him before the loan ends and that we’re busy finding clubs for Ramsdale and Baz (which is going to be a big ask)

pimpin4rizeal Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Do we have a option to buy with peretz? He’s not ever gonna be be first choice at Bayern so think our chances of getting him should be decent.. he’s been fantastic tbh what a difference it makes. Having a big imposing goalkeeper who makes saves and doesn’t just stand there to pick the ball out of the net like Baz 2

I would imagine he'll have a few suitors after the last few months, but I think he appreciates playing - he doesn't want to be a bench player. We need to sort out the Ramsdale situation then we will make the call on him. I just hope the Ramsdale sale doesn't drag on for weeks. 1

We need to get Peretz in permanently regardless of what happens with Ramsdale. Loan him out or sell him when the chance arrives, don't piss about and miss out on Peretz. 3
Dark Munster Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago 7 minutes ago, Turkish said: Corrected for you Russell Martin strongly backed Gavin Bazunu in August 2023, stating he believed the Irish goalkeeper would be "one of the best" in the Championship. Martin told a fans' forum that Bazunu was his number one and predicted he would be "one of the best goalkeepers in the division". Martin described him as a massive asset and praised his courage, stating that if he were looking for a goalkeeper, he would pick Bazunu. While Bazunu had a challenging first Premier League season, Martin credited his "incredible" intensity and ability to play out from the back, as noted in reports from Daily Echo. Corrected for you. 😉

Our accountants may not like it, and it will give us less of an advantage getting the best price from Ramsdale, as our hands will be a little tied behind our backs in negotiations, but it must be done! Ramsdale probably won't leave before the end of the window anyway, so doing that first will probably mean we miss out in Peretz, There is probably a final date like 30th june or something where we have to use our option on him. 2
BarberSaint Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Well we're going to lose Long and McCarthy, so that'll give us some leeway. Sign up DP and then we can get rid of Ramsdale, who'll want to go, at our leisure. Who knows? Possibly a loan to Millwall.

Ex Lion Tamer Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) We do have to leave open the possibility that Martin was trying to protect his goalkeeper's confidence. Are people so credulous they think managers tell the truth all the time? Edited 13 hours ago by Ex Lion Tamer 2

CylonKing Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Is there any chance we can keep both Ramsdale and Peretz?
Master Bates Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Can Bayern recall him seeing as 4 of their keepers are injured?

He’s played for 2 clubs this season so don’t think Bayern could play him. Also think international loans can’t be recalled outside of transfer windows but need an MLG check on that one.

Loan him out or sell him when the chance arrives, don't piss about and miss out on Peretz. Agreed. Even if Ramsdale comes back he doesn't get in the side ahead of Peretz. McCarthy's contract is up so I don't see how there would be a problem getting him in on that basis alone. If we don't try to take up our option we'd be absolutely insane. Whether Peretz wants to stay is another matter. If he does stay he has to be our number 1. At least Ramsdale is getting a run in the Newcastle team this season so hopefully they'll convert that to permanent this summer. Edited 1 hour ago by coalman 1
hypochondriac Posted 42 minutes ago Posted 42 minutes ago Worth saying that I wanted us to sign the Sunderland keeper. Fair play to the club for going with this guy who was less well known but probably a better option. Credit where credit is due. 3

It's only really been Damien Downs who has been a let down. Quarsie i see as a YHGTIer who was a low cost development player. The rest have all been decent to good.
disconnect Posted 30 minutes ago Posted 30 minutes ago Noticed that Bazunu got injured after his first game for Stoke and hasnt been seen since!
swedish dave Posted 9 minutes ago Posted 9 minutes ago Best goalkeeping display since ..(?).. putting aside the sojourn that Davis was in goal ..(mostly in the League 1 and Championship days). . I must think back to Antti Niemi's time with Saints in the Prem. Good command of his area, not afraid to "goad on" his back line, and very agile when it matters. Surely to be a " must deal " in the summer if we have an option to buy.

I think you are mostly right, masked by the poor start to the season. I wouldnt say Roerslev was a decent buy and Jellert- whilst a loan- was a bit of a waste given we decided to bin Bree off for half a season.

Bree miles better than both of them.
