One of Boro's reporters checked with the EFL yesterday morning and that's what he was told.

What on earth are the EFL doing disclosing that info to them? if true of course.

Whilst the uncertainty around the ticket news is unsettling, there is no way on earth that Saints would roll over and allow themselves to be removed from the final with upwards of £200 million to be “won” at the end of it over a bloke watching them train through an iPhone. The punishment simply does not fit the crime, particularly after 2 playoff games that have already been played between the two clubs.

Fairly certain Mr Solak himself would be looking for the most expensive lawyer with the biggest pair of bollocks going if so.

Imagine if Boro got fined for the gdpr breach and it was more than a fine we got for spying haha

If found guilty, it almost certainly would be (Not boro, but the hotel also owned by Steve Gibson).

i believe the club are aware, so I have no doubt the lawyers will be having a look.

If there is a case to answer, they'll persue it no doubt.

There is , hence why it goes to an independent panel . EFL  has no say on the punishment as far as i know

Who decides who is on the 'independent' panel...?

Exactly and Simon Jordan has alluded to the fact that Steve Gibson knows we won't get kicked out and is fishing for cash.

All this nonsense talk of “it’s not fair on hull they don’t know who they’re preparing for”

2 years ago we played the second leg on the Friday, and the final was the following Sunday. Was that unfair to have only 8 days to prepare?

Their players probably aren’t even back in training yet, they’ll have been given a few days off to recover.
Their coaching staff will be preparing to face Southampton. They’re not fucking stupid.

I’m close to not bothering with this thread, there are certain posters that seem desperate or are borderline clinging to the idea of us getting kicked out.

All I can say is u hope you don’t get a Wembley ticket, and if you do I hope you’re not sat anywhere near me 😂

And if they subsequently use the information gleaned from the credit card for any investigation they'll take a dim view of that too.

The last I’ve heard is the EFL have written to FIFA and Donald Trump on behalf of the Middlesbrough chairman to see if they can move the World Cup to next year so Middlesbrough get a chance to dispute the spying allegations.

if successful they plan to play the playoff game around the time the World Cup starts.

It'd be funny if Saints took the approach of "nope, thats not the bloke. Just looks like him... prove it".

eerrr well we have these credit card statements.

Surprised Boro and their fans are pushing to get us kicked out so they can play at Wembley. It'll just mean them being humiliated again and showing they can only play for 20 minutes, can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, run out of gas after 60 minutes then, at the end when Hull have smashed them, they and their manager will all be in floods of tears and saying .'Why always us?'

Come to think of it, fuck it, kick us out, it would be worth it to sit and watch that unfold 🙂

Absolutely, as I just did a compliance course which clearly stated in very big letters - if you supply this kind of data to anyone else who has no legitimate interest in it, you are PERSONALLY criminally liable. Feel bad for any employee who was bullied into handing over info, but that's the law.

We’re not getting kicked out the play off final

The date of the game isn’t being moved

We’re not getting a points deduction (absolute worst case scenario is a suspended point deduction which would kick in if we got caught doing this again)

everything in the media is being entirely fabricated or leaked by Boro in a desperate and contemptuous attempt to keep the pressure on everybody else. Their hot shot lawyer didn’t tell anyone they’d instructed him that’s for sure

It’s all just irrelevant noise and it’s getting more and more pathetic

Indeed, Hull vs Southampton is likely to have a very charged atmosphere.

Hull ain’t winning the final mate 🙄

It's good tactics from boro to leak to Northern journalists in order to string this out and maximise their hand for compensation. Simon Jordan has spoken to Steve Gibson and he's already said that's what he wants because he knows there is no chance of getting kicked out. He wants a pay off from Southampton and in return he will water down his submissions or at least not push as hard. Whether we give in to his demands as the least worst option I have no idea

This.

Even if they go for the worst case punishment, there isn’t time to implement it, and allowing due process/appeals to run their course.

The final will happen and it will be us. Anyone saying otherwise has an agenda

Yeah and isn't it about time the press switched to reporting on the upcoming prestige FA Cup Final between the two biggest cheats in football. We know there'll be no mention and the same journos and pundits will be licking the arses of all and sundry connected with Man City and Chelsea. Meanwhile keep piling on to little old Saints cos an intern took some footage with an I-phone 200 yards from Boro training. Sheeesh!!!!

Every cloud.

Hang on - are we on an unbeaten run?

That's news to me. I guess no-one saw that coming, or they would have mentioned it since.

A tactic that might have worked had they not squinned to the press on a hour by hour basis. I don't see how that is feasible now.

If we approach them, that is effectively us admiting guilt.

There is no approaching. As Simon Jordan said they've already spoken at board room level and thus far our holding statement and not admitting things more readily has pissed off Gibson. Whether when we conclude our investigation and heads roll we will see him more conciliatory after some compensation remains to be seen.

Look I’m quite a sensible person and can see that if we are kicked out of the playoffs that would be seriously OTT, but why would they delay the ticketing, get the clubs to take down the ticket information if the worst news is not incoming? Serious question. It seems like it is all lining up for something the change in the final, and surely that can only be one thing? The teams are changing that make up the final or there will not be a final, which is even more unlikely!

Because prior to the hearing taking place all cards are still on the table and nothing is being ruled out. Doesn't make it likely though.

I think it’s this. If you announce tickets now, then the outcome of the hearing is basically obvious.

Well if that article's correct (and I appreciate it's the Mirror) then we're not getting kicked out.

That article clearly states that if they do try and kick us out then we will immediately appeal it, and triggering that process alone would mean that the final couldn't be played and they'd have to move it.

There's no way the final is going to be moved, it's not logistically possible — ergo, we're not getting kicked out.

I suspect that there is some frantic backchannel negotiation going on behind the scenes where we agree to take a monster fine, possibly a points deduction and to pay some compensation to Boro to shut Gibson up, and in return they confirm that we'll not be removed so that any talk of the final being moved goes away, tickets can be issued as planned on Friday and everyone can get on with preparing for it (except Boro of course).

Everyone comes away from that sort of happy and the logistical issues go away. If so, we've played our hand quite well because we have the right to 14 days, and the longer we force this mess to drag on, the more unmanageable it is for the EFL, Wembley, the police etc. They'll just want it sorted so they can play the game.

EFL have been actively looking at alternative Wembley dates and alternative venues. Not saying it's going to happen but they are preparing for a delay.

Tickets have been on sale at Wembley since yesterday. The Final will take place as arranged between Hull and Southampton.

If we are sanctioned it will be after the Final, and the precedent is Swindon (whom were initially demoted 2 divisions, but only one on appeal). Hull would be promoted. But the Swindon offence was far more serious.

Getting bored of this whole saga now.

Whole affair is a embarrassing I can't believe we have been so reckless.

If they decide to make an example out of us so be it... Another season in the Championship I wouldn't care and wouldn't lose any sleep.

The football is more exciting, Premier league is boring AF with the whole VAR nonsense and listening to the taters jizz over the oil clubs week in and week out....

Yeah me might lose a few faces like Scienza but I'm confident we could rebuild, won't be the end of the world......

It's only football at the end of the day, life goes on

I can only think that Gibbo's-Grizzlers must be sitting on some more dynamite stuff and keeping their powder dry. They'd look right mugs if it really is just some scamp standing by a tree with an iPhone.

I'm sure we'll hear how the boro coach was savagely attacked arriving at the stadium, about ballboy thugs and hurty words from Saints players and supporters. There was one fella towards the front of block 20 Tuesday night who lit a flare straight after the final whistle, a photographer (probably boro as in that corner) turned round smiled at the fan and encouraged him to wave it around for his lens. The flare was then handed to some young mush to have a go who was also papped. Wonder where those pics ended up?

They must have something more juicy to back up their hysterics, surely?

It will. From a proper process perspective the way Boro have behaved is appalling and that will be taken into account in all of this.
