Only a handful of seats left behind the goal.

Looking forward to it.

Shit loads left in the home end, surely we’re not segregating for this are we?

Anybody driving over to Germany? Am considering it with a one night stay.

Nicks Saints Away Travel is doing a decent little coach trip with a 2 night stay if it’s of interest.

A second friendly in Germany

Our son spent a year there at the Technical University where all the courses were in the German language. It’s a lovely town with a very good micro-brewery. The second smallest in Germany we were told. There are copper vats behind the bar and the beer is piped from them overhead to the bar itself.

Mind you, this was over thirty years ago. Wolfenbüttel a few miles to the south is also a lovely place.

Normally can walk round ground. You can segregate Eastleigh v Saints anyway as most Eastleigh fans are Saints fans ! Apart from the Eastleigh ultras about 50 of them went will be OK. X5 ultras (think that's the bus route) do cause a lot of trouble at Woking and Aldershot and will have a go at running over netting at home games but that's only normal 5 fans from each side. Most of the fans I've seen being ejected from ground was because they were driving cans of beer in stand and 15 year old.

The Eastleigh lot were at Northan st Marys Norway v England last night if anyone noticed !

Yep. Going over on the Friday and coming back Sunday. We did a Dusseldorf home game in May. That was decent.

Is there a live stream of Eastleigh-Saints?

Looking forward to seeing who Saints have playing, even if a different XI for each half.

There has been for the last 2/3 years, but they do tend to only announce it at a late stage to avoid it detracting from Eastleigh's ticket sales

I think a 7.45pm kick off is already damaging to their ticket sales, has put me off bothering

Totally missed that it had been moved to the later time. Guessing that must've at least partly been a response to last year's obscenely hot game with fans collapsing and the stadium running out of water for fans

My grandson was due to play in a tournament at Stoneham FC tomorrow. Just been informed that it's been cancelled due to water supply problems in Stoneham Lane, so no toilets etc.

Don't know if this will affect the Saints game in the evening.

Fun fact... Even in competitive fixtures, Portsmouth have failed to beat any team from Aldershot in nearly 50 years. And they bang on about us somehow being in their shadow...

This feels like the most low-key pre season we've ever had. A kick around with Eastleigh to loosen up after the summer break then a couple of lower league German clubs

I guess for us the main thing to focus on is fitness, no change in manager or core set of players so everyone already knows the plan , they'll approach the Colchester game like a friendly as well

Yeah it’s very odd that there hasn’t been a big home friendly organised as per usual, although the pitch prep is almost two weeks behind due to the Ryan Garner fight. I dare say there will probably be a behind closed door game, or back to back games organised against a localish Prem side as we’ve done in recent years.

Shame we didn’t organise something with Valenciennes seeing as they’re in town, could have had a Saints XI play them at Eastleigh.

So that’s Jander, Azaz and Edozie all out of the Germany trip. Other than that, everyone is there, including the guys who will obviously leave. I assume they won’t take match minutes but are just there to participate in training and give them a chance to keep themselves sharp

Final chance to impress Tonda, as well? There may well be redemption for one of those we expect to leave if they have a good tour.

I’m still clinging to the firm belief if any of them do come good it’ll be Bereton Diaz, just based on his last two loans proving better than his time here.

Agree. On the face of it his physicality might be suited to a rotational role as one of the central attackers with Larin and another. He's a decent finisher at this level and has a pretty good scoring record. He certainly wasn't suited to hugging the left touchline in a naive high possession team playing Russball in the PL (what a time to be alive)

Good for Tonda to get a look at BBD and, to some extent, Downs to see if either are players he feels he can work with.

I guess Sugawara is still off from the WC but I suspect he'll go anyway. Ramsdale (wages) and Baz (shite) are obviously for sale, i just hope we aren't going to rely on Long being second choice this season. One injury to Peretz and it's season over.

I know this is a friendly and we are still early in the summer transfer window AND I'm a fan of seeing youth come through but I hope we aren't going to rely on Akachukwu or Oyekunle as 3rd choice strikers either. Such an important season we need to get promoted, we need some proven goals on top of Larin (who will be back late due to the WC).

I think 2 of the 3 GK spots are sorted, we need a second GK.

LB and RB will probably do.

CB is reliant on keeping THB, he needs to be replaced otherwise as Wood, Jack and Quarshie aren't enough.

CM, likewise depends on who stays. Downes and Bragg probably stay and we seem to want to keep Jander. Charles needs replacing. I think Dan Neil would have added something here but probably need another anyway.

RW, Matsuki and Fellows, fine probably.

LW, Leo and... Edozie? Robinson? BBD? 🤯 Probably need some strength in depth there, much more if we lose Leo.

AM, Azaz and Dobbin,  good.

Strikers, Larin... the rest to be confirmed. This needs the most work depending on exits.

But as I say, early days.

Akachukwu is a 5ft10in midfielder so I don't think he'll be the 3rd striker. Agree with the rest of the summary, I think Alfie House has said on his X account that Spors is looking for a #2 GK. Probably someone with a younger profile who can be an understudy to Peretz while Long is the experienced third GK for training etc. Dobbin will share some of the LW minutes with Scienza as well I would assume and probably some minutes up top too, rather than only getting in as an Azaz alternative

Sugawara is with the squad in Germany, just not in the squad for the match

Oh I'm surprised i thought they get longer off. I wonder if Bremen will come back in for him despite their option expiring.
