Pilchards Posted Tuesday at 20:37 Posted Tuesday at 20:37 (edited) I see Wolves are looking strong for the Championship campaign this year. Kieran Trippier signing on and now rumoured to be going back for ex favourite Jimenez. Edited 5 hours ago by Pilchards

I think Jimenez would be a great signing for Saints on a rotation basis, but that's the thing we do well, rotate. 1

In theory maybe; in practice, I'm really not convinced. 3
Willo of Whiteley Posted yesterday at 09:17 Posted yesterday at 09:17 Five years ago they were different players. They could easily have the impacts of Walcott or Romeu on their return. 2
Pamplemousse Posted yesterday at 10:38 Posted yesterday at 10:38 We'll see how much scar tissue Wolves have. Other than a bit of a resurgence for a month or so, they were utterly shit for the most of the season

CheshireSaint Posted yesterday at 11:37 Posted yesterday at 11:37 Pointless signing I reckon. As Saints proved, it's no good planning solely on getting out of the League 1, unless you plan on coming straight back down again. Signings ideally have to be good enough as is, with potential or a ceiling to better themselves in the Prem. If successful, Trippier and Jimenez will be another year older than now. Player tend to drop off a cliff rather than marginally deteriorate once past their best. We shall see. 1

AlexLaw76 Posted yesterday at 12:22 Posted yesterday at 12:22 Surprised Wolves are not going for a young upstart from the German 2nd Division to lead the line 3

Saint NL Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Not strictly championship, but if they need to sell then I can't imagine any PL teams will be interested.

Saint NL Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cd7wn0erlvwo McKenna leaves Ipswich. (Not technically Championship)

CSA96 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Not sure where else to put this but... Wolves sacking Rob Edwards: 2
Willo of Whiteley Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago 11 minutes ago, CSA96 said: Not sure where else to put this but... Wolves sacking Rob Edwards: Imagine leaving a team that was top of the Championship for a team destined to get relegated from the Premier League, get relegated with one of the worst efforts to stay up and then get sacked before the following season starts having agreed a deal to bring back their former star striker. Wolves could be just as funny as West Ham this season. 🤣
woodsaint1 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago 12 minutes ago, CSA96 said: Not sure where else to put this but... Wolves sacking Rob Edwards: After signing Jimenez and Trippier, and then having Edwards on to talk about them both. Trippier even praised Edwards. 😂😂 Can only be a good thing for us as Edwards knows the Championship well and has had success
Willo of Whiteley Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago 18 minutes ago, CSA96 said: Not sure where else to put this but... Wolves sacking Rob Edwards: Would be equally as funny to see that fraud Fabrizio called out on more bullshit like he was a week ago 1
Maggie May Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago 5 hours ago, CSA96 said: Not sure where else to put this but... Wolves sacking Rob Edwards: Doubt this is true. Also, Edwards still lives rent free in Boro fans’ heads. He’s branded “the rat” They just can’t let anything go. He had barely half a season with them.
CB Fry Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Bizarre. Surely (like Adam Armstrong) Rob Edwards was hired for this season, not last? If it creates chaos at a clear promotion rival then hopefully good for us. 1
Badger Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Wolves trying to recreate the Nuno position of having a Portuguese manager with the Portuguese agent link (assuming he’s still involved). Yet they allowed Edwards to start assembling a squad with more domestic players, Armstrong and Trippier
hypochondriac Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Totally bizarre and I bet Rob edwards is regretting leaving boro. Personally if we have to sack Tonda I'd consider him here. 1
Saint NL Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I'm very very happy that Boro didn't get promoted, but it would have been very funny if they had after Edwards sacking

Agreed - it's a really bizarre decision from Wolves, he's proven in this league and from what I read, was instrumental in getting Trippier to move there. Way to go Wolves, piss off the new guy straight away.

Paul Chuckle Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Almost worth appointing him if Tonda is suspended by the FA just to see the complete meltdown by Boro fans. 5 5
Willo of Whiteley Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Edwards made some mad moves in terms of stepping away from Boro for Wolves but he has been hard done by here. Just shows how disjointed owners are from the playing and managerial staff. He’s clearly been building a team for the Championship and now no doubt Wolves will try and recreate the Portuguese team that worked for them ten years ago…

Way to go Wolves, piss off the new guy straight away. New guy being hailed as one of the most talented coaches around. Having done a quick search on him he never lasts much more than a year anywhere, apart from one club where he got sacked and rehired a few months later then left at the end of the season after they got relegated. His 'top coaches around" tag seems to be from his last job where he took his team to 6th in the Porteguese league, outside of that his record seems pretty unremarkable to say the least. 6 management jobs in 7 years, quite a few sacking at least one relegation, quite a few winless runs and a win percentage overall of 29%. Cant see this one going well. Oh well..... 1

Lee On Solent Saint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago They do love the Portuguese up there. Weird decision. Thought Edwards would have done alright this season. Maybe his end of season comments didn't help him too much.
Saint86 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 11 hours ago, CSA96 said: Not sure where else to put this but... Wolves sacking Rob Edwards: This one is mental. They had a proven manager at championship level who was preparing his team for next season and who had saved them from the seemingly near certainty of being the worst ever prem side... I know they love Portugal... but the Championship is one of the most competitive leagues in world football.. About as far from the Portuguese top flight as you can get. Absolutely huge gamble.
Saint86 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) If we do end up sacking Tonda, i certainly wouldn't be against Edwards as a future saints manager. Can see Burnley trying to get him on board ASAP. Edited 3 hours ago by Saint86

Ouch Imagine logging on to check the news and finding out you've been given a nice lump of cash and don't have to go to work anymore 😂 Seriously though, what a farce. Hopefully will work in our favour.

My perception of him was that hey did well. He joined when confidence was destroyed with 2 points from 11 games. He ultimately got them up to 20points and almost overhauled burnley - despite selling strand larson and replacing him with AA. I personally took that as a reasonable achievement. Possibly the fans are just understandably very unhappy and are blaming anyone attached to last season's fiasco. But if you compare it to our 12point relegation season, where the team weren't as badly off as wolves were when he joined, and yet were so demoralized they gave up every time a goal went in... There was no danger of us ever reaching 20 points. Edited 2 hours ago by Saint86
