Fernandez was obviously attempting to play the ball, but arguably did not impact the goalkeeper, and not enough for var.

I think bristols goal had more of a case for offside that man city's did.

Officials at the game made the right call - it took VAR to get it wrong. If we do go up, I hate the prospect of being subject to that again.

You look a bit stupid mate. Every fan can see that was a mental call by VAR. Stop the game for 3 minutes to overturn a correct decision beggars belief. Oh and the refs association have recognised this

Lots of camera shots of him looking shell shocked during 2nd half (same with members of the crowd) , horrible afternoon being outclassed at home by Brighton for them , no goals scored in any of their 4 games , early days but could be a long old season for Cov

Yeah but the ball was deflected off the defenders foot so playing him onside or doesn't that count anymore  ?

A better point is that the rules are now so complex with 6 caveats that no ref can work to those rules on the pitch in a split second or even after 10 mins thought .

Foden red was harsh as replay shows Bruno kneeing him into touch then a sly boot to the arse before Foden brushed him with his leg . Bruno then , as usual , play acted just like Enzo for City did to get a free kick , they are a bunch of cheats .

Maybe it was that “these things even themselves out over a season” thing - albeit over few seasons in this case. If you cast you mind back to the goal United scored where the ball was punted up field Rashford was miles offside and moved to within inches of the ball, motioned to play it, stopped, and a team mate rattled it into the goal. Everyone not of a Man U persuasion was stunned Rashford was not flagged offside for definitely being in play and the goal standing.

Its so embarassing, VAR brought in to make sure officials dont make errors is actually now over ruling correct decisions with wrong ones, it's ridiculous.

Anyone can fuck up in their job but when your one role is this you really need to be taken off duties until you can understand the fucking basics that every fan (exception being pingpong) knows.

I didn't say it should be a goal, I said it wasn't enough for var to overturn, and I pointed out the correct rule.  Bbc article agrees and stated the decision should have gone to the ref.

I also said bristols goal was just as questionable, and a very similar situation - also shouldn't have been a goal as you can see peretz was impacted and immediately claimed for it.

I stand by that.

Its hard to imagine being as thick as that VAR official tbh, but they do walk among us - and that one was so poor that i do't think you can even suggest match fixing. I reckon you could give most (impartial) fans a month to learn the rules and practice implementing them, and they'd have done a better job on that decision 9/10 times, let alone with years of experience behind them. Get a graduate etc., to drive the controls and all you need is solid understanding of the game and the rules to make high level refereeing calls on contentious decisions... And always remember, if its not clear and obvious, make no change - and that should be first bar on any VAR decision. Whoever that VAR was, he simply isn't fit to referee.

People moan about VAR but it’s shown English officiating to be even worse and inept than we thought it was in our worst moments.

The officials are said to be professional.  What do they do in their 40 hour week?
