sidthesquid Posted 2 February, 2009 Share Posted 2 February, 2009 He deserves an apology from the club. I hope his heart will be in it.. No he doesn't. If he works hard in training & takes his chance in the team he deserves to play, no more than that. He wanted to go last January but Hertha Berlin didn't want him permanently. He knows why the club wanted him to go earlier in the season (ie because his wages were crippling the club) and he has tried and failed AGAIN to find someone to match his excessive wages here. It's business on both sides - why does any of that deserve an apology?
Chez Posted 2 February, 2009 Share Posted 2 February, 2009 He deserves an apology from the club. I hope his heart will be in it.. why? Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 2 February, 2009 Share Posted 2 February, 2009 thats my info and 1 MIGHT be coming in, but a little hazy on details about that I guess the 1 MIGHT not be happening then, given we're nearly 45 minutes past the deadline? saintjay77 Posted 2 February, 2009 Share Posted 2 February, 2009 Looked committed every game I've seen him play this season, and is easily the best player in at least four positions. WL, LB, LM, ST/Hole. He has looked commited in the games leading up to transfer windows for sure. But there have been long gaps when we have hardly seen him or the effort hasnt been there. We have all blamed his absence on the managment screwing him around, or the board saying he cant play cause of bonus' and so on. but maybe when he has had nothing to play for he has been arse in training, and therefor was dropped so players that wanted to wear the red and white stripes got his place in the team? I know we all like to believe its all the board or clueless managers fault but the more times this happens with Rudi the more I think he has a bigger part in it. Personally I would like to see him on the Left Wing but if he has nothing to play for will he do any better than anyone else we have?

Hertha wanted him but the club asked too much on top of his contract and Hertha walked away. It was Lowe trying to cash in not Skacel. Ipswich came in and offered him about half his current contract that had 2 years to run. It was Lowe again who gave him the ultimatum, go or you won't play again for Saints. He along with Euell, Thomas, Saganowski, Raziak, John, Wotton were excluded on the dogma of youth only. Put the blame where it is due, Lowe as always. I'm sure there is another side to the Rudi story that doens't quite blame Lowe for every single thing. And I am sure if we let Rudi go for nothing you'd be slating Lowe for that too. You seem to be advocating our chairman give our players away for nothing and let them decide the exact terms of their departure? Right? Wotton not playing cannot possibly be for the same reasons as Euell and co, not least because he was signed by/for the "revolutionary" management team. LOL if you believe that lot I can understand why Lowe is the root of all evil and should be hung drawn and quatered. Hertha took him on Loan with a view to make it perminent. The deal had been agreed when Hertha took him on loan and they chose not to take up that option. Maybe they thought the price was too high or maybe they wernt prepared to pay him what he wanted. Either way it wasnt some evil doing by Lowe after the loan as thats the kind of terms that are agreed before the laon takes place. Skacel wanted out and we needed to lower the wage bill so a fee was agreed with Ipswich and Skacel went for talks. He couldnt agree because either they wernt offering as much as he was getting here or they wernt offering him a long enough deal. Not blaming him because if he is getting 10k a week here for the next 2 years and ipswich offer him half that for 1 year I know where I would go if it was me. Previously I thought the club didnt play him to save money but now he wants away again and asked to be dropped so he could bugger off and try and get a deal somewhere else I am thinking he didnt play because he didnt want to play for us. In all honestly I would rather it be the clubs fault right now as I think we have supported Skacel since he got here and if him not playing is because of him I think that support was wasted. Lowe wanted Skacel out because of his expensive contract. The fee he demanded caused Hertha to walk away. So now we are saddled with his contract for two years. Yes, a free transfer with no added cost was the way to get him off the books. He has 18 months of a lucrative contract left, we either honour it, pay him off, or let him leave on mutually acceptable terms. Obviously the lad can add up. Whatever the reason all the experienced players were excluded with the exception of Davis and Perry.

I have a source high up in the embassy in Berlin who is a football fan and knew people in Hertha. He told me on 19th July that Hertha had dropped their interest because of the unrealistic demands by Southampton, although they were keen to keep him but not at the price demanded. Last Jan was a different issue the Czech coach told him he wouldn't be considered, playing in the CCC. He went on loan to Hertha and went to the Euro 2008 in the Czech squad. I don't blame him. Being messed around by GB probably had a lot to do with it.
