And the first player out is .......

CHAPEL END CHARLIE

On loan with an option to buy if we stay up,... oh !:(

However, has said he would like to stay, ( there is a thread on this somewhere ).

He was intervjued on OS and he said that he would like to stay even if Saints now play in L1 - some small fee is involved tho.

Happy to lose DMG, Surman, Saga, Skacel and Lallana for a bit of money. Maybe up to 6m between them, that could make a huge difference.

Like to keep the rest (except Smith) though.

Assume Rasiak, Dyer and John will leave too. All that must total 7m+ into the club and a huge reduction in wages.

Unfortunately your arthmetic is not good or your are taking some kind pick me up £7 m is way over the top I would have thought

Possibly £3 m

Wow, a £1m a piece! I suppose if the new owners aren't desparate and other teams are it could happen but I'll be surprised.

I have a feeling Skacel and Saga will leave on free transfers next week - probably to Hertha Berlin and Legia Warsaw

followed shortly by Dyer and Rasiak for small fees to Swansea and Watford!

and then Euell leaving early for some team in the USA - with Kelvins and BWPs contract being ripped up a month or so early - and Wotte and Saejis heading back to Holland

I have a feeling Gasmi, Molyneux, Lancashire, Paterson and co will play against Forest

Gasmi will then probably head back to Strasbourg, whilst Schneiderlin moves on to Arsenal

Do we pay wages to Stern John *****il his contract run out) and Rasiak over the Summer? Surely the loaning clubs won't be paying them now the season is over. Or do they not get paid over the Summer if they don't play or train?

we will be paying Rasiak once his loan runs out and mark my words he won't be sold as soon as the window opens. We face up to 16 weeks of his wages before he leaves for nothing. That is where the money goes. No need for any `investigations for missing millions'.

2 million :smt101. If hegoes for 2m I'll eat my grandmother.

I'd of thought £2M was a fair price for a former England U21 international that has a decent left foot, scores goals, has a decent engine, a great first touch and will only improve with age.

Unfortunately Surman is a tippy tappy player who looks like he plays in his slippers and is frailer and easier to shove off the ball than my two year old. Apart from that, yes, he is really suited to life as a footballer. Not. £2m is astonishing business.

Come on, I was being quite conservative in those estimates.

Surman is utter ****e but he'll go for 2m. Lallana hasn't done much but he'll get 1.5m or a little more. DMG could get 1m. Dyer will be 300k or so, Skacel and Saga about the same.

Lets wait and see

but Skacel and Saga will go for zero I would have thought

He only made a few cameo appearances of about 1 minute each but still managed to look so awkward that every touch he had (about 15 in total), made me nervous.

I thought he was the worst "footballer" I'd ever seen in a Saints shirt, bar none. Made Calum Davenport look like Franz Beckenbauer.

Still, officially the funniest dribble I've ever seen at St Mary's too, the stumbling, clumsy 40 yard fall over on the half way line after getting clipped on the edge of the box.

Looks like Lancashire will be getting a start on Sunday, no bad thing to get him more experience...

Two mill is amazing money for someone who's not very good. Cue the selloff of assets one by one.

Why do posters on here keep slagging Surman off? Does it ever cross your mind that if successive managers here rate him, that if he was picked for England u-21 and that if other clubs' managers and indeed commentators also apparently rate him, that maybe he is actually a good player and it is your judgement that is wrong?

It was the same with Oakley... another good player constantly slagged off on here.

I for one would be really sorry to see Drew go. He is a good player and a genuine Saints player ..one of the few who isn't just a mercenary. With the right opportunities he will be a premiership player at some stage in his career.

I would question whether he got picked for England U-21s for any matches not played at St Mary's... but I think he's a decent enough player at CCC level, certainly a good enough left back.

I'm sure he scored in a game at the Walkers Stadium.

Fair enough, I still think it's fair to say he was in a couple of squads to raise the match profile and help sell tickets though, it's amazing how many England U-21 squads feature local players who don't get a look in at other locations.

On reflection, I'm not sure if O'Halloran was worse than Liptak or not...

Well let's see. His delivery is poor. He can't tackle. He never heads the ball. His passing is pretty inconsequential. He disappears from games. And he doesn't link the defence and attack sufficiently. He is also - as I keep saying - far too lightweight to progress very far. Simply linking him with Oakley doesn't work. Personally I was a fan of Oakley, but there's no denying that he went missing on occasion too. Was better than Surman, in my view, though.

PS a lot of not very good players play for England U21.

Well let's see. If Reading do buy him as they go up and he is playing 2 divisions above us next year, maybe you will reassess your opinion?

An awful lot of professional footballers and managers do seem to rate him as a tackler, and especially as a passer etc, judging by comments you read in papers or hear on radio and TV commentaries.

And Coppel has shown he can be a shrewd judge of players.

Which games in the last two seasons has Surman really took the game by the scruff of the neck and influenced things for us? As for other managers rating him. Wasn't this the same Andrew Surman who got dropped for Mario Licka? (Who wasn't exactly that brilliant himself). Pearson only put him back in at left back because we had other injuries. He's only playing this season because we don't have any other options.

Playing for England Under 21? So did David Prutton (And he played a lot more games than Surman) and now he can't get in the side at a League 1 team.

He has the odd good game now and then and pops up with a goal or two, but for every good game he has about five bad ones. Surman only gets this hero worship status because he's a young white local lad. If he was some 30 year old journeyman foreigner, I guarantee everyone would be on his back.

We aren't second bottom because we have good players. Our players are poor and Surman is as bad as most. I really hope he goes soon. Surman to the Skates would be a dream move.

Hello Drew!

If I were a Saints player reading these boards I'd be looking to get out as soon as possible. Drew hasn't had the best season but he's shown that he is a more than capable player and with the right coaching in the right team could do very well. And aside from the performances on the pitch he is a Saints fan and has shown time and again passion for the cause.

But people here just want to slag him off, just as they slag off every Southampton player it seems.

If they can read and do bother to log on here, then maybe they will agree with the posters. After all, they have been utter carp for most of the season. I think they get off lightly on here, compared to other clubs sites.
