Song for Gabbiadini

I figured i'd get in here before one of our resident geniuses/idiots decides to rhyme Italy with Pompey again (seriously why do we do this!? So far Cortese hated them - might of heard of them probably doesn't care - and now Hojbjerg hates them - almost certainly has no idea who they are).

So i figured what about something different, original, easy to remember and sticks in your head...

To the tune of Sally Cinnamon by the Stone Roses (for the nippers and oldies that don't know it it's this

)

Until Gabi we were never happy,

We wanted so much more.

From league one back to the Premier,

St Mary's would roar.

Join my tears,

Allay my fears.

Sent to me from heaven

mano gabbiadini you're my world

Only thing i'd say is these two lines could be changed

Join my tears,

Allay my fears.

But i haven't figured out to what yet.

Top marks for effort. Have you actually tried singing the chorus bit out loud?...to say it doesn't really work would be an understatement of massive proportions

Needs some work for sure, hence why i stuck in here as i figured people could work out the ending to get it working instead of something generic and sh*t.

Surely with the right people we can get this to happen? Can't think of a single club that uses a Roses tune despite them being loved by a large swathe of football fans

FC United have a Waterfall one and Sunderland had an awful Made of Stone one for Januzaj that thankfully died out quickly.

Good effort, but for me the only thing that really works is the 'until gabbi I was never happy' bit.

However much better than the usual sh!te we sing!

Money can't buy me love. You know you want to.

Plays up front for the mighty Saints

And he came from Napoli

Doesn't speak any English yet

But he ****ing hates Pompey

I don't care too much for Mane

Mane isn't Manolo

Gabbiadini

Everybody tells me so

Gabbiadini

Manolo- oh

"Gabbiadini, we accept you, we accept you one of us!

Gabbiadini, we accept you, we accept you one of us!"

(instead of 'Gabba gabba, we accept you, we accept you one of us!' at the start of the Ramones classic 'Pinhead')

or Just chant gabba Gabba hey, gabba gabba hey.

There is a player in our side whose name is Manolo Gabbiadini

There is a player in our side whose name is Manolo Gabbiadini

I'm just not sure if you understand the words that I'm saying to you

He plays for a team managed by Claude Puel

He's better than James Beattie was during his playing days

There is a player in our side whose name is Manolo Gabbiadini

What is it with some Saints fans? They seem more obsessed with telling everyone they hate a tiny nothing of a club down in the fourth tier of English football instead of just properly getting behind our players. We don't care about Pompey so stop singing about them! Maybe you should just think about this: every time a Pompey fan reads about us making songs about their tin pot club they must feel an odd sense of affirmation that their club must be something special because Saints fans are still singing about them! Why do people want to give them that pleasure?! Stop, think and get behind Saints instead of spending your lives worrying about them!

As for a song, it would be great to have something a little different like Stone Roses, etc. but the reality is that we all have widely different tastes in music and lots of these songs will be unknown to many fans. So we must choose a song that just about everyone will know. That doesn't have to mean all the same songs that are used over and over and over again though! There are plenty of well-known songs that are not widely used.

I would therefore like to suggest a few songs on which a theme song for Gabbiadini or some other player or manager could be based. Some of these may have already been used; others may not have been used or have not been used recently:

* Yesterday - The Beatles

* It's a Kind of Magic - Queen

* It has to be perfect - Fairground Attraction

* What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong

* Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners

* I still haven't found what I'm looking for - U2

* Help! - The Beatles

* Somebody to Love - Queen

* All you need is love - The Beatles

* Light My Fire - The Doors

* Every time we say goodbye - Ella Fitzgerald

* I'm a Believer - The Monkees

* American Pie - Don Maclean

* Hotel California - The Eagles

* Feel - Robbie Williams

* Wish you were here - Pink Floyd

* Bridge over troubled water - Simon & Garfunkle

* I will survive - Gloria Gaynor

* Imagine - John Lennon

* Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

* Wonderwall - Oasis

* Stand by Me - Ben E King

* I heard it through the grapevine - Marvin Gaye

* We'll meet again - Vera Lynn

* Dancing Queen - Abba

* God only knows - Ther Beach Boys

* One - U2

* The Boxer - Simon & Garrfunkle

* Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen

* Everybody Hurts - REM

* Somewhere over the rainbow - Judy Garland

* Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers

* Let it Be - The Beatles

* Yellow Submarine - The Beatles (OK this one probably has been used quite a bit!)

* It Must Be Love - Madness

* Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney/Wings

* Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey

* Waterloo - Abba

* Shout - Tears For Fears

* Fast Car - Tracey Chapman

* Happy - Pharrell Williams

* Beneath your beautiful - Emeli Sande & Labrinth

* Blank Space - Taylor Swift

* Hello - Adele

* Fix You - Coldplay

* Hotel California - The Eagles

* The Hall of Fame - The Script

* Stop in the name of love - Diana Ross & the Supremes

* I love Rock n Roll - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

* I wanna know what love is - Foreigner

* O sole mio (Just One Cornetto) - Giovanni Capurro & Eduardo di Capua!

er... ok... gonna stop there! There are absolutely loads of course(!) but my point is that with so many songs to choose from it must be possible to create something original using a well-known song that everyone will know!

So, to end with how about these for possible Gabbiadini songs:

Fast Car - Tracey Chapman

We've got Ma-nolo Gabbi..

Man-olo Gabiadini!

We've got Ma-nolo Gabbi..

Man-olo Gabiadini!

He's gonna score a goal for us; he'll get another and Saints gonna win!

He's gonna score a goal for us; he'll get another and Saints gonna win!

(repeat)

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Ma-no-lo Gabbiadini, Ma-no-lo!

Ma-no-lo Gabbiadini, he's gonna score a goal.

He'll score from the left, he'll score from the right,

He'll shoot it long, he'll shoot on sight.

And then we'll sing loud...

(Repeat)

O sole mio (Just One Cornetto)

Manolo Gabbi, Gab-yadini

A goal machi-ine, from Italy!

He shoo-oots, he shoots some more,

Gabbiadini, he's gonna score!

The old Gaston Ramirez song

Oooohhhhhh, Gabbiadini

Ooooohhhhh, Gabbiadini

Or

Gabbiadini, wooaahh

Gabbiadini, woahhh

He comes from Italy

He faccking hates Pompey

That second one actually being sung yesterday ffs. Doesn't even fit. If we are going to use that one it should be

Manolo, whoaaah

Manolo, whoaaah

He comes from Italy

To score for SFC...

In a highly predictable way some of our brilliantly f*cking stupid support sung about him being from Italy and hating Pompey.

I swear at times we're "blessed" with one of the most cringeworthy support in football. Between the c*nt in the indiana jones hat, the face painted clown who looks like he's on day release from the undateables casting, and our "banter boys" who sing these terrible songs it just makes me wish for the proper support we had at the Dell more and more.

This.

we have (imo) one of the best songs about a footballer to date (He's our Cedric) and the Northam spastics even manage to **** that up by singing far to fast and clapping like lunatics.

Fortunately didn't hear the one for Gabbiandini

His name Manolo Gabbiadini scans really well with the "Glad all over" Dave Clark 5 song.

He'll score for fun now (he'll score for fun)

Just wait and see (just wait and see)

Another Saints striker (another Saints striker)

Brought from Italy (from Italy)

He's Man-o-lo Gab-bia-dini

Si, Ma-no-lo Gab-bia-dini

Ma-no-lo Gab-bia-dini

you'll be just fine

OK. The second section might scan better like this:

"Yes, he is Ma-no-lo

Yes, he is Ma-no-lo

Talking 'bout Ma-no-lo

Gab-ia-di-ni (Gab-ia-di-ni).

[Pause after "yes, he is" and stress the first syllable of Manolo.]

Surely something that goes with a Barry Manilow song is necessary. I forget the name of the song. Coca cobana I think, where he sings about show girls falling in love and all that guff:

He was in Naples

Now he's a Saint

He scores goals without restraint

Chorus:

Gabbiadini's a scoring machine

And the Saints crowd, they fell in love

Maybe they were singing about Pompeii, it's just down the road from Napoli, not as irrelevant for Barry as for many of our other **** song recipients.

Bom bom bom bom badum ba ba ba bom

He was excited to come to Southampton,

He was excited as he could be,

And that's why he came over the ocean,

And he signed for us from Napoli

(2, 3, 4, tell the people who will score)

It is the itsy bitsy teeny weeny Manolo Gabbiadini,

Who will score for Southampton today.

The itsy bitsy teeny weeny Manolo Gabbiadini,

And at Southampton we want him to stay

(2, 3, 4, stick around we'll tell you more...)

Repeat.

How about the old Pop Will Eat Itself song for Italia 90 - Cicciolina

"Gabbiadini, Gabbiadini, Manolo Gabbiadini,

Gabbiadini, Gabbiadini for I-talia, I-TALIA"

Nice, and I bought it (nice fag packet style box on the cassette single!), but given that about 90% of teenagers had no idea about the song even at the time, it's a bit of an ask to think someone could get enough people interested 27 years later.

Having said that, it's really simple and easy to learn... though it'll end up not sounding anything like the original. :D
