He's a lot more competent than most give him credit for and certainly better defensively than McQueen (which you'd expect from a converted winger). More than capable backup for left back. I know he is from the academy and hence gets given extra lee way by fans but he isn't good enough for the PL he has zero pace and isn't particularly good at defending either. That's like saying "My bucket with holes in is better than my colander for holding water" Against Huddersfield Targett failed to cut out one cross all afternoon he doesn't get forward particularly well either and doesn't have the pace to get up and down the line at least McQueen is useful in attack. That's not true. All players that were sold were definitely worth keeping and we showed or small club mentality by selling them. Zaha is fast but so were Rashford, Lingard and Martial. Somehow our back-up fullbacks dealt with that. Palace are playing very well and perhaps we should approach this match like we have approached the matches against Arsenal, City and United. Felt good after that game but suddenly we're in 15th, Palace on a high...Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth even Swansea all improving...we MUST win this - and hopefully in style. All the players that was sold was players that handed in ( But SRL ) transfer requests / Made it 100 % public that they wanted to leave / not stay at saints. As we seen with vvd, keeping players unhappy is bad for the team. But the logic i dont get is.. Stephens and Target was good enough against United, but not good enough against Palace. you ****ting me? against a top 6 club they do a job for us, perform good but against a bottom half club not good enough? f me some of the brains in here, no wonder i dont comment half the time. Come play at Southampton fc. the fans will rip you to shreds for any mistake, demand Messi like performances from EVERYONE and any mistakes / misplaced passes means your championship quality at best HAHAHAHAHAHA...
