Nostalgic cnts

bugger off you miserable sod!

Was it really that long ago when it was SaintsForever? Oh the intrigue with the Wilde takeover and posters going into meltdown and club plants posting. All got quite tasty!

Franks Cousin - as someone posted on this thread - used to really get into it with CB and Turkish(?). Amusing stuff.

Going further back - Minty was a quality poster and had his own site and forum at one time. He used to post on here a little bit. Anyone know what happened to him (aside from getting a life!)?

I'll never forget being told to just get behind the statue (not literally i don't think). People were genuinely saying stop criticising it it's not that bad [emoji38]As time has passed it actually looks even worse than it did at the time.
In fairness that didn't last long. I remember it was LeGod Second Coming (there's another name for you, nostalgia fans) who led a spirited defence on the evening it was unveiled, and a few others did the "well some people simply don't understand interpretive artwork" routine but by the following morning all that was gone and from then it was just LOLs all the way.

Except for the total waste of fans money because the idiot committee gave all the money to someone who had never done a public statue commission in his life but that didn't matter because he was a passionate Saints fan. Moronic.

Still, the detail on the shoes was amazing.

Remember this?

“Ian has done a tremendous job. It’s very rare I’m lost for words but I saw the statue last week and it’s awesome a tremendous tribute to the great man, fans have waited a long time for this and it’s fantastic” said Dave Ford chairman of the red bates trust.

One of my favorite ever quotes, shortly followed by

Saints trust chairman Steve Godwin

“The purchase of 1885 shares in Southampton leisure holdings by the saints trust is a major step forward for all fans of Southampton football club. It gives the average fan on the terrace a voice in the way the club is run. Right now the voice is only a whisper but in time it will grow to a roar”

Back then we had it all, along with Keiths trip to Sweden, Steve Grants regular interviews named as “top saints fan” some many fan groups, so many attention seekers in a power struggle to be a fan on the board or to lead a new wave of fans groups it really was a wonderful time to be alive with a real hope that one day one of us might get a seat on the board.

Was it richard chorley who formed sisa and got all militant with everyone?

SISA was great at first and served its purpose, it was when it went all weird doing things like storming a fans meeting throwing 30 pieces of silver it got embarrassing.

He was one of the 4 main SISA members with Nick Illingsworth, Clive Foley and Perry McMillan. Chorley was a bit of a loose cannon.

I heard he was making porn for a while and that he got banned from a charity shop for intimidating staff. No idea if he's still around Southampton or not.

Clive and Nick do the Ugly Inside stuff. Not sure if Perry still goes to games, not seen him around for a long time.

Were you at the meeting? Was in the Maple Leaff if I remember correctly. Probably the one and only time I actually felt a slight bit of sympathy for Lowe and Cowan. An utterly bizarre evening.

Only poster I miss is Griff. Can't believe he passed away 13 years ago. Along with a few others on here we got to know him quite well, and spent many a funny evening getting drunk in Southampton.

Honorable mention to the Saints forever Fireman who don't seem to post much anymore

Chorley then spent the remaining time talking absolute sh ite about if only we turned St Mary's into a social club and put local bands on that would fund our promotion back to the Premier League. Absolute super-fans-know-best horsesh it.

Except of course Chorley was barely a fan, it was all some ego trip. The fact that Radio Five had him on speed dial as our official voice of the fans for some time was highly depressing.

I don’t think he’s even a saints fan, think he supports Man United

Sadly not, although I knew quite a few who were

I went to a lot of the early SISA meetings at the pub oxford street area which was packed and then the maple leaf. All to do with the Branfoot our campaign. That was good.

The early SISA meetings were good, think the first one was at the Captain's Place, a pub on the corner of Terminus Terrace and Bernard Street. It was rammed that night. Then Hulse Road saw a few good times. Bally's homecoming night at the Polygon was another top one. Chorley and McMillan changed the vibe and it got too political. Same happened to the Ugly Inside fanzine. Great in the early days and for most of it's production but the lefties ruled in the end.

Course it was Hulse Road not the Maple leaf after the first one and captains corner pub. Got a few hundred at least to those meetings, with no internet or mobile phones it was all arranged at matches. First one I remember hardly being able to see the anything as was right up the back, bit chant of “we want branfoot out” at the end.

TUI and On the March were two great fanzines, I seem to remember a bit of a falling out and a few articles having a at Darren Wheeler when he set up his one, the name of which escapes me.

Example of what Hypo meant. This is Jennifer Kelly. I might see if I have an old thread laying around in The Muppet Show.

(Incase this is risking an infraction, this used to be deemed ok to post on TMS, sorry if that's changed due to Woke Britain. I'm sure the ones on TMS have bewbs)

Beautiful South was Darren's fanzine wasn't it?

That’s the one. They were all good in the their own way. I can’t remember all the details but I think There was some sort of falling out when Darren set that up, there were definitely a few bitter articles in TUI at the time.

Not really sure about this walker peters interest. From what I’ve seen of him he looks a bit passive not really looking to beat players and get down the flank but preferring to just lay the ball back with simple pass.. I think maehle sounds more interesting

Can't remember any of his posts to be honest!!

I think he's already had a mention - Mark / Marc - but surely gets an honourable nod for his plans to take over Bournemouth and the spoof 'monkey chicken petting zoo'.

Lifelong Saint ? Still on here under another name.

Weston Saint reads on here but rarely posts. Watching now most games from corporate.
