Murdock Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 I thought he did OK, couple of good saves, a few routine saves, decent distribution, mostly. All in all a solid performance I thought.

Under Weststand Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 Thought he had a decent game tonight looked pretty solid, and made a couple of smart saves in the last ten minutes. What did impress me about him tonight was his distribution. His quick throw out helped in the build up to the 2nd goal & also set up a quick break for Antonio that ended up with us getting a corner. All in all a good performance.

SNSUN Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 He did very well IMO. Caught every ball without drama, it was obvious Parkinson had told the Charlton lads to run towards him when he had the ball but he never panicked once. Good save just before the goal too. I was like everyone else on here, quite worried when I saw Davis rested before the game - but that's a big credit to Davis - it shows how important he has become to the team - and how much he's improved since the dodgy days in the CCC. S-Clarke Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 He did ok, but it was hard to judge as he wasn't tested tbh. One really good claim though from a corner though, in windy wet conditions - was impressed with that. Not many clubs outside of the prem can boast 2 strong keepers like kelvin and bart. Arizona Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 I feel really sorry for him... stood in the freezing rain with bugger all to do. In all seriousness, on the rare occasions he was troubled he was unflappable and made a couple of decent saves. Nothing he could really have done for their goal and your could have staged a drag race between an aircraft carrier and a Zeppelin in the 'offside space' in the build up. krissyboy31 Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 Looked a lot more confident than the last time he played for us. The couple of games at Barnsley has obviously done him the world of good. Also, coming into a winning team with two/three centre halves winning everything in the air in front of him can do no harm. St Landrew Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 I like Bart. I like his style, and I like his ability. I also like his self belief. He's almost cheeky with it. He's not the complete keeper, but I hope he sticks around long enough to take over from Kelvin Davis, because he'll get just that bit better when he's older, and he'll make the spot his own. the saint in winchester Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 Yeah, a gasp went up (around me in the Itchen - or was it just me gasping!) when it was announced he was playing. We neednt have worried - he didn't have a lot to do, and what he did he did well. His distribution is excellent - as NickG says his throwing - and his kicking out - and we're bearing down on goal. The wingers need to get more aware of that and get running sooner!
St Will Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 His distribution is way better than Kelvin's. Kelvin has the necessary experience and shot stopping ability, but I have to say, Bart was pretty assured tonight.
Saint_clark Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 Having seen it a few times on replay thats a bit harsh. Do you want to re-evaluate your statement ? No. It was what - 5 yards in front of him? He actually STARTS to come out of goal, so I don't see why he stops. Bit silly only quoting that part of my post, as the rest of it was complimenting him. hamster Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 I think he needs to learn from tonight game how to kick the ball into spaces. Most of our decent moves were made by the outfield players. Kelvin adds to that with his clever kicks. bart seemd happy to have it in his hands. Kick it out a bit quicker Bartman. CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 A precedent has been set now . Alan Pardew has a small problem on his hands as if he were to drop Bart for the next JPT fixture that would be seen as a (damaging) vote of no confidence in him while on the other hand this close to a Wembley cup final we should be playing our best team I'd have thought . Interesting to see how AP calls it .

rooney Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 Bart had a very good game and his handling was excellent bearing in mind the slippery conditions. Dan Johnson Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 Looked decent last night, wasnt troubled, could do very little about the goal and looks to have grown into the posistion a little more. If we were to make it to the final, it would be in part to his performance in goal and he would thoroughly deserve his place in the final team. Same with Davis if we made the playoff final or when we play Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

Saints foreva Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 I like Bart and thought he did a decent job last night. He does have the talent but tbh I don't think he has been the same since being dropped for the 2nd leg play off game against Derby. That must have killed his confidence - especially considering he played a major part in getting us there whilst he stood in for Davis.

If rumours are true he wasn't dropped but had a bit of a panic attack the day of the game and requested not to start, hence Davis coming back in. Since then yes he hasn't looked the most confident of keepers. Will never forget his performance when Crystal Palace beat us 5-2 on the opeing day of the 07/08 season.
