The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Maybe Pardew spent the majority of the Summer budget in January?

I reckon so.

We really don't need too many more players, anything more than a right back, a central midfielder and a winger-come-striker would be counter productive IMO.

Would be very happy if we go into the Plymouth game with Dickson, Clyne, Stock and Antonio as our four summer signings. Leaves plenty of room for youngsters to step up into the squad and obviously the loan market to exploit if we get any injuries. Best of all no excuses about gelling at the start of the season.

Might leave us a little short at right back but i'd like to think we've got enough players who can "do a job" there.

All very quiet down St Marys.

No rumours no nothing, all we know officially is that Pardew is looking for a new striker or two.

Hopefully we will hear a bit more soon. This forum needs something else to talk about.

What's this I read about free agents Lee Hendrie and Lee Trundle then..? Apparently, we're a bit interested. Also, we're trying to get Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool on loan for next season..?

If you have read about young Jonjo i would be very very interested, he looks a corker of a player, i just hope he doesn't rot like the rest of Benitez's purchases at LFC.

Lee hendrie and Trundle, do they still have the legs and quality ? Didn't Hendrie drop to this division last year ?

Could do with a couple of strikers IMO

Connelly has not signed yet, which pretty much leaves us with Lambert and Barnard, not bad but no cover.

Do we even have any decent youth players

Tomorrow is a day of F5 refresh, I've a feeling that it will be a busy day... Just reward for renewing my season ticket today... COYR

First post eh? Sounds like you might know something we don't? Why would today be a 'busy day' - why not tomorrow, afterall tomorrow's Friday!

Maxim Kalinichenko.

Current Ukraine international...very active imagination you've got there Arizona! ;)

Lee Trundle sounds good, god knows how many years i've been touting him on this thread as a good signing. Would be decent on a free as rotation/backup for Rickie.

I see Palace have said that Danny Butterfield has decided to join another club - he would be a good signing. I also wouldn't be surprised to see us take Lee Trundle on a free as back up for Rickie.

I wouldn't be surprised at this at all. Danny Butterfield that is. A right back on a free that Pardew knows relatively well. Good getting forward and a good cross. In fact sounds a lot like Murty had he stayed fit.

I was assuming and hoping Connolly will sign.

We seems to be sacking off all our decent youngsters - Paterson would be a decent squad player this season such a shame we lost him.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Oscar Gobern and Callum McNish where the only bright youngsters coming through although I haven't seen the reserves play for 6-7 months so no idea really.

I know we have a couple, those mentioned above and also a couple more that are very highly rated but still a year or so off and being kept under wraps.

I meant do we have any young strikers ?? We are desperately short their IMO

Block 5 mentioned that he'd had an e-mail saying that we were about to sign a right-back, striker and midfield general on one of the other transfer related threads. Given that there's no real rumours, it's time for me to have a wild unsubstantiated stab in the dark as to who two of them might be (and it's a bit Norwich related!).

Brentford have signed Michael Spillane from Norwich today (according to Sky), who can play anywhere across the back four but started off the season at right back for them, so maybe they've given up on Simon Francis, from Southend, and we've nipped in there? Just because there are free transfers available doesn't mean we're restricted to going for freebies - not with Markus' cash! In the same article, on Sky, it says that Norwich haven't been able to agree a contract with Darel Russell and he's been released. Maybe he's the midfielder and we've put together a more attractive option? Wild guesses, as I say, but stranger things have happened!

Nobody in the reserves, but we've got a few bright sparks in the academy like Tony Garrod, he's meant to be quite highly rated.

Well we won't be bringing in Albert Adomah - off to Bristol City according to Sky.

****. That's another of my suggested transfers that has bitten the dust. Like N'Geussen last year, Adomah is the best attacking free transfer from the lower leagues. I hope we have at least tried to get him here. I have little doubt that Stephen Dawson (another free from League 2 will do well at Leyton Orient. Our failure (or decision not) to sign these players hopefully means we have some even better players up our sleave as both would have been ideal IMO.

James Ward Prowse played for England this summer as well.

Yes, but he's a right back! ;)

I am quite excited about the state of our academy though, we've got some good players emerging and if rumours are to be believed, the best is yet to come!

I reckon so - Cortese gave Pards the money with promotion the aim - unless Liebherr gives him some more, I think most of the budget is gone. There will still be frees brought in I would assume, wages pending.

I think our forward line is ok if Connolly signs on. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the obvious youngster that springs to mind, although I do think we lack pace without Waigo and Antonio. I do hope we continue the fight to bring back Antonio - Good for us and one for the future.

I rate Danny Butterfield, I'm suprised Palace ditched him. Would be superb experience for the right back berth, and is also quite versatile if we bring in a specialist right back - so can play elsewhere when not needed in that position.

I'm guessing you're saying our major rival for the title' date=' already relegated from a higher division, has brought in their sixth signing already? Or is it that you think we should've gone for Gary Teale?[/quote']

No not at all - just posting something I've just seen on NewsNow which is Saints related.

FWIW I am at ease totally re Saints and transfers so far. AP identified those positions that require strengthening and I'm sure they will be.

Oops - missed that bit! Bit concerned if it's true that we are missing out on players to our rivals, though.

I think that Danny Butterfield would be a v good addition to the squad. We are in desperate need of a right back (preferably 2!)! He was a regular for Palace at right back last season and he could potentially play at centre back when needed! Lets hope that Neil (Judas) Warnock doesn't attempt to raid another of his old clubs for another one of his old players (Kenny from Sheffield United and Clint Hill from Palace). Warnock is such a 2 faced pr*ck! He tried to persuade Neil Danns to stay at Palace in January and then *****ed off to QPR as soon as the opportunity presented it self! What a co*k!

Has anybody noticed that the rumours surrounding certain players have died down recently which makes me wonder whether the players in question have already agreed transfers to another club? If these players have already agreed a deal with another club, it would mean that their agent would not be touting the player around to other clubs. The 1 I'm interested in is Simon Francis of Southend. A right back, and a player that was the subject of a lot of transfer rumours last month!

Have we bid just over a million for Brian Stock? Anyone heard any rumours on this? I see a few Doncaster fans seem to think he is on the way to us from other rumour sites for £1.1/£1.2 million.Would be a great signing if true.

The other 2 midfield names that seem to keep being linked are Chris Lines and Matt Oakley.
