Oldham build up

Bucks Saint

Recommended Posts

Great win today! Shame Oldham had one as well. OK it was against Swindon but they were in fantastic form on Sky recently v Charlton. Oldham's home record remains excellent - better than ours - so it is going to be tough.

Lets hope the likes of Lallana and Lambert who played today are ok. With the benefit of the other players to come back in, the small number of Saints fans who are making the trip will be right behind the lads pushing to get back to 2nd place. 0-1 will be do me fine!

i live in oldham so only a 5 minute walk to the ground for me........its going to be a tough match, not because of the team we are playing but their pitch! its a disgrace.its took a real battering over the xmas period with all the bad weather!!!! i`d be very happy with a draw to be honest.

Our bogey team. Nuff said.

Last season we beat them 3-1 at their place and drew 0-0 at home.

This season we beat them 2-1 at St Marys.

What part of those stats constitute them being our bogey team ?

Please clarify your statement so it makes some bloody sense ! ;-)

its tough but to be in top two its looks like we really need to win most games.

Win the next two, not everyone playing midweek and a couple of all top 7 ties on Saturday and hopefully will start pulling away from some of play off teams

Went up to this one last season, great day but not a nice place to go, even more so on a cold tuesday night. If the pitch is anything like it was last season it's much the same as Daggers pitch so hopefully we will cope with it again.

One thing I really take my hat off to NA for. No matter what state the pitch is in, he still gets the lads knocking it around and it was great to watch that at Daggers last week.

As said above, there home form is fantastic but I can't help but be confident. I'm going for a nitty gritty 1-2 win.

we could be 3 points from brighton with a win...or we could be 6th or so if we lose...

big game

100% agree. Hence why I could not quite understand the huge focus on the Blackpool match (great though it was) for the past week, versus almost no mention of Tuesday's match.

As has been well said by others, if we can come away with a win this would be a massive statement of intent re promotion

If we hold our own in midfield, we have more than enough for Oldham. I would expect them to play an extra man in midfield and would be far happier with us playing 451, until the need dictates a change. We have more fire power in this league even playing 451, so it should not be an issue. I do see an issue getting a performance out of Schneiderlin or Hammond for this game. Morgan has never been blessed with stamina and it sounded like Hammond had a tough time against Blackpool.

But equally Oldham had to put in a shift on Saturday and the whole Saints team are buzzing at the moment and Adkins is doing his homework very well. This should be an easy win for us given our current form, it's whether the midfield can hold it together for the attackers to inflict the damage.

Oldham Away = Draw

Notts County Home = ??!?

Tranmere Away = Should Win

Charlton Home = Win?!?

Interesting set of games coming up ... (is there ever an uninteresting period with league 1) ... Whats acceptable? win 2? draw and lose 1? ...if we are going up convincingly we need to win them all but I can see us losing one of those ... Might see the first draw for a while, however if we beat Oldham away tuesday night we might just go on to win the other 3 games, which is why tuesday is so critical ... COYR you can do it

The formation we played yesterday worked quite well, i'd prefer us to try a 4-3-3 formation such as:

------------------------DAVIS-------------------------

RICHARDSON------FONTE------SEABORNE------DICKSON

-----CHAMBERLAIN-----MORGAN-----PUNCHEON--------

---------BARNARD-------GULY---------LALLANA--------

Subs: Bart, Butterfield, Harding, Jaidi, Chaplow, Gobern, Lambert

Why drop Lambert? Unlikely IMO. And no Hammond or Chaplow? No chance IMO.

Unlikely, but worth a try imo. You can swop Guly for Lambert, but Guly looked really impressive when he came on and Lambert might benefit from a rest so he's 100% for the weekend fixture.

Hammond, i'm not so sure of. Morgan had a storming game yesterday and I would keep him in the team as long as he's playing how he is atm.

I expect we'll see something like this on Saturday though:

-----------------------DAVIS-----------------------

RICHARDSON-----FONTE-----SEABORNE-----DICKSON

PUNCHEON-----MORGAN-----CHAPLOW------LALLANA

---------------LAMBERT-----BARNARD--------------

Subs: Bart, Butterfield, Harding, Jaidi, Hammond, Chamberlain, Guly
