Saints v Plymouth postponed?

I'd be surprised if Plymouth call this off with the cash-flow problems they've got, international call ups that I mentioned about 3 months ago or not. The last thing they want is to delay money through the turnstiles for another month, and I'm pretty sure that at this kind of notice we've now only got April 19th left to play the fixture.

The BBC website is not now showing the game on the 26th as a forthcoming fixture for either club, but neither has it got any news story saying it has been postponed, and our club web site still shows the game as on, with no hint even that it might be postponed. Very odd.

Having already booked up train tickets for this one, that is what I'm hoping, surely Plymouth will need some cash coming in from what must still be one of their bigger home games of the year, rather than putting it back a month. Having said that, reading the article it does seem like they'll be missing a fair few key players. Am I right in thinking that they don't need to announce if it is being postponed until a few days before hand?

BBC hasn't had it on their fixtures since we announced the rearranged time, and LAST season they completely failed to put our away match at Brighton on the fixtures when we moved it forward a day, so I wouldn't read too much into that... it's been missing from the predictor for months, they obviously deleted it instead of moving it.

Plymouth Confirm match Postponed, how many games in hand are we going to end up with.

http://www.pafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10364~2315199,00.html

I believe there is only 2 dates that can be fitted in:

1/ The Tuesday before Brighton (19 April) or

2/ The Monday/Tuesday before Walsall (2/3 May)

I hope it is (2) but I think the league will go for (1) (in case there is some bad weather in late April and they need to use (2) for something else).

If it is (1) Saints will have to play 3 games in 6 days, therefore I HOPE THE CLUB CONSIDER moving Hartlepool back from BH Monday to a Tuesday night to give the players an extra days rest.

(By suggesting that I bet that makes me unpopular with some on here).

F**s sake, that is now Walsall, Hartlepool, Rochdale and Plymouth that I've had train tickets booked up for this year. Good job Saturday was such a good day out or I'd be well and truly ready for giving up on away trips. Don't think it helps our promotion push too much either.

I hope it's either May 2nd or 3rd as if we continue as we have done recently this could be the game where we could clinch promotion and we should be able to get plenty of tickets if that's the case. normal allocation is 2000 but I'm sure with Plymouth needing the money they could give us the whole end approx 3,000 if necessary as it's easy to segregate in that end of the ground

Getting silly now. They should just deal with national call ups, too many games have been postponed. Yet we aren't playing tomorrow night, why? We can assess our performances all we like, but it's becoming quite possible the pathetic fixture organisation could really harm us this season. Could end up with 4 or 5 games in hand. It doesn't help psychologically when you're always playing catch up. We slipped out of 2nd because of postponed games in the first place. No more!

Agree totally Adrian, FFS. Did Saints have the option of vetoing this? Surprised the league allows it. I had sympathy with Plymouth before this but I don't now - hope they go bust. It is Plymouth's responsiblity to sign players that are likely to be available during an English season.

Absolutely ridiculous. It is a league rule that if you have 3 or more players called up you can postpone a game. Saints would have no option to object, it is a rule.

As for Plymouth's responsibility to sign players available during the season - so if Guly, Fonte and Lallana for instance are called up you wouldnt want our game called off then ?

Plymouth have no money, are in administration. I would think getting any player from anywhere is difficult enough.

There are other teams and circumstances apart from Southampton you know.

Yeah, and I managed to identify New Zealand and Zimbabwe as two of the "culprits" - though the Irish U-21 wasn't on the radar !

I'd say we're more likely to get 3000 it it's the April date. If it's May then that would be their last home game of the season where crowds are generally up and they're very likely to be fighting for their League One lives. If that's the case it would make it a very tricky fixture for us.

Lol, well done, we all admire your great footballing knowledge mate.

Shame about the postponement, friends of mine will now have to miss this one having previously bought tickets, very disappointed that it's allowed to happen to be honest.

its hardly argyles fault is it....

Certainly isn't, they'll want to give themselves every chance of avoiding relegation although it looks extremely unlikely anyway.

Never know though, they're all pretty crap down that end of the table and one decent result could swing it for any of them.

The Zimbabwe fixture is a "Continental Qualifier" against Mali (26/3).

http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=zim/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.html

The 2 NZ fixtures are FRIENDLIES against China PR (25/3) and Japan (29/3) (may be called off).

http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=nzl/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.html

(I assumes Brighton will also be without Wood for their 2 games in this period ??).

The Rep of Ireland web site makes no mention of an U21 game

http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23&Itemid=41

the senior side are due to play Macedonia

http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57&Itemid=32

so he may have been called up to this one.

But FRIENDLIES should not count imo.

oh bugger. hoping rearranged date would be 3rd May, only cos our last 3 saturday away games are brighton 900 away fans, brentford 1600 and orient 1000 away fans at least at plymouth we would get 3000 and have a promo party

we had over 3000 there last season, so i dare say we'd get somewhere in that region again.....(am crossing ALL my fingers!) :)
