what has happened to Jason Puncheon...?

..yes believe it or not, this is about a Saints player...

after all the furore in the summer about " million pound transfers " and his wanting away, he can't even make the bench at QPR on a regular basis.

Don't tell me he's going to end up like another Anthony Pulis....permanently on loan and eventually UNSALEABLE !

Sad. He is a talent for sure and I think he could have done a decent job at Saints. NA has shown that for players that want to improve they will improve at Southampton thanks to our excellent training and coaching facilities. But Jason did not like our style of play so end of really.

Of all the players brought in over the last few years I would have actually thought someone with his flair and close ball skill would actually love the way we play. I suspect he is not happy being a small fish though or adhering to any kind of authority. Whilst he feels exclusively loved and valued he is fine but he needs constant validation, any criticism given to him throws him off, he can't cope with it.

He has the skill to be a top flight player, but the temperament of a spoilt child.

JP wrongly called the outcome of last season; if he had known we would get automatic and then top the champ then he would have hung around. He was too hungry too soon which Im sure he'll regret one day.

I have to ask this question of you all. IF Puncheon was to regret it all, humble himself and come cap in hand back to Adkins, fall to his knees and say he wanted come home, accepting he would only play a bit part with us, but knew this was where he should be and was sorry for all the disruption he has caused ...... would we have him back, and on what terms??

I wouldn't want him. Even if he was genuine about being sorry, there's still the potential for another episode. Not the sort of player we need. Anyway, I think we're going on to bigger and better things than he ever will

Yes of course. People change and as long as he didn't unsettle the good spirit we have i'd have him back in the mix.

I wouldn't like that to happen. It would only be a matter of time before it started all over again.

NO spells no. Only because he is not good enough for us - not his attidude only.

I don't use twitter and it confuses the **** out of me. But looking through their pages briefly I think it's great that they've got good banter going. Jos, Chappers, Corky, SDR seem to get on well.

Good comments from SDR on his goal and never seeing 4200 travelling fans for a game

From De Ridders twitter;

Sitting in the car; @joshooiveld20 asks me out of the blue; you wanna see #lionking3D in the cinema tonight...? #huh? #strangedude

@ConnorArmstrong @joshooiveld20 nothing wrong if you go and watch it with your children...not with a tall creepy looking Dutch man...

Is it correct that he has only had one game with them? What exactly was the point of the loan? It doesn't look as if he will do enough to impress QPR into signing him on permanently and even if he came cap in hand and apologised profusely for his bad attitude to Adkins, I don't believe that he will be allowed to return to us. He must be kicking himself at his reverse of fortune, as it is not impossible that had he remained here and got his head down, he could be playing in the Premiership with us next season. There might well have been opportunities for him this season because of the number of matches in a short period which require an element of squad rotation, or even if Adkins thought that tactically he might suit certain opponents tactically. But Adkins' policy seems crystal clear in regard to team spirit; any disruptive influence is off the bus.

Thankfully, we have ample cover not to miss him. Even with Chamberlain gone, we have several players who can play out wide and those like De Ridder, Chaplow, Lallana, Guly offer attributes that he possesses. Even without the attitude problems, would he get a game? Maybe, depending on injuries or suspensions to other players, maybe not even then.

The point of the loan is that he's not here,he has a contract until about 2013 I guess and he's persona non-grata at SFC.

As no-one seems to be willing to meet our asking price for him it would seem that anyone who he thinks is worthy of his services can have him on loan.In this case I think JP wanted to go to QPR far more than QPR wanted JP.

He does call Lallana a 'genius' on a recent tweet tho, so he can't be all bad. Is the "anything's possible who knows" comment in reply to a Saints fan hinting about him maybe playing for us again when his loan expires???

any time Puncheon comments on Saints its always really positive. Speaks to the youth team a fair bit and comes across as someone to look up to believe it or not. Good attitude and very supportive. Looks like he genuinly wants us to do well. Complete contrast to the image I have of him.

Someone commented a while back that he fell out with NC and thats where the problem is. No idea what happened or if its a rumour started by NC haters though.

If he came back and all was resolved, where ever the problem is, I would be happy to give him all the support he needed purly based on the way he has acted publicly towards us since the "falling out".

Has there ever been an offical announcement about what happened with JP? I've never seen one. Its all "Gladys the cleaning lady at SMS great nephew Bob told me that Jason puncheon acts like a ****". Ergo urban legend among saints fans is Puncheon is a w anker.

Not doubt something happened with JP but no one seems to know what it actually was so Puncheon seems to be a scape goat. A useful player that would add to our team, without knowing why, I'd have to say it's a shame he's not playing for us. Of course if the really reason was known we could all make a more informed judgement.

indeed, he's had nothing but good to say about saints since he left but something is amiss for sure. Doesn't matter who fell out with who though, jason isn't going to be playing for saints anytime soon of that i have no doubt. All we can do is try and recoup some of the fee we got for him and let both parties move on with their lives.

Then its really time to take it on the chin and cancel his contract, I'm afraid. We dont want him back here.

If we did take him back, I think we should put in a clause making him responsible and has to pay for any damage he does to the Big Screens at either end of round when he shoots :D

I remember being quite surprised at how adamant Nige was when he said that Puncheon wasn't on the bus - definitely wasn't said in jest. Whatever happened seems pretty deep and damaging.

Of course JP is going to say nice things about us, we hold his contract, and he may well be remorseful, but I really don't see anyway back here - hope someone wants him - as suggested Celtic would be nice!!

Indeed it was quite serious from our Nige, as shown by this quote which was posted on here previously:

http://audioboo.fm/boos/309941-saints-manager-nigel-adkins-talks-about-the-injuries-to-adam-lallana-alex-chamberlain-the-possibilty-of-jason-puncheon-returning-to-the-club

Frankly I couldn't care less about Jason Puncheon. As a team we haven't missed him one little bit since he left the club.

To be honest he just needs to get himself a move to another Championship club and sort his career out, otherwise he is in grave danger of being a has-been. Depends on how much he wants it or not.

Contrary to others opinion I think NA is just the sort of fella to welcome someone back into the fold IF said person came out and apologised for their past indiscretions, both to his team mates, employers and fans.

Having not seen the lad in the flesh, I can only go on what others say and so it does seem an awful waste.

An apology is never likely to be forthcoming though, he doesn't sound as though he has enough class for that.

Why does he need to appologies to the fans can't remember him doing anything to us!

Sure if he wants back on the bus he needs to appologiese to Adkins and who ever else he has offended within the club but I can't say I would expect an appology. For me if he comes back appologises and gets his head down I'd have him back in the squad he would be a usefull backup that could hopefully mean we never see Guly wasted on the wing again and he's reasonably proven at this level.
