Looks like the holding pattern is almost over, and permission to land is soon to be given :). The other player is impressive, not Gaston level, but still very good - can't give anymore info at this time - But as I said, domestic backups to try for if it fails ! Saint Charlie - sorry for not posting a reply, but 3 post limit means i sometimes have to wait hours before writing.

Oh and Bucks Saint, look at whether a poster has a history of indicating incoming signings before writing info off as 'tosh'. I may not be able to give the most detailed updates, but I say as much as I can as often as I can without making life difficult for my source.

Can you say what position this other player is? Sounds like we have an exciting day lined up tomorrow then with at least 2 deals going though (Ramirez & the one you're on about)!!

Thank God in just 23 and a half short hours, we'll know once and for all if all these posts have been futile or not.

Funniest scenario? Saints announcing that we're putting off his signing until January. This thread will have broken the Internet by then.

Sounds like he has and obviously it can be very difficult. Calm down drama queen

Hope you took my childish post with a pinch of salt DD. This has to be up there with the most frustrating signings ever mind, 140 pages of drivel.

Its only been a couple of weeks to be fair. Not too long in the grand scheme of things.

Got to agree!

BlakeySFC - I did say "most", not "all" and perhaps "most" was harsh, but it is annoying and I've started removing those that do it (go me, very self-righteous).

Anyway - back to Ramirez - just been on Sky Sports News that Saints are close ...

It's not the majority though.

The MINORITY of people on twitter are self-publicising look at me ****s but you get people like that just walking down Southampton high-street at the weekend.

Twitter enables people an inside-view of the lives of professional sportsman, reality tv stars, journalists, actors, musicians etc.

The thing I love most about twitter is knowing Jos went fishing today, its a redundent piece of information but I (and many MANY) others find it cool that we get this insight into the lives of professional sportsman/journalists/actors/musicians etc.

Alot of people just have twitter to follow certain people they like for news/updates etc. some people on there are complete ****s, but you get complete ****s in many walks of life.

People don't understand twitter fully, don't like it for some reason (maybe because its popular? maybe because its one of those new-fangled social-networking contraptions?) so it's 'fun' for people to knock the people that have twitter accounts and post regularly on there.

It's just ignorance pure and simple, if people actually went on twitter, got an account got used to it, got used to the intricacies involved in posts and realised that posting about what you had for dinner/tea/ is not all it consists of then maybe people would realise what a great tool it is to interact with other Saints fans/certain Sports fans/fans of a particular musician.

Couldn't agree more. I was the same when I joined it. I thought what is all the fuss about and these sad people telling everyone what they're doing etc but as you said, once you get into it, start following different people and understanding its main uses, it is a fantastic tool for instant information from near enough every single news outlet, celebrity, sports club etc.

I enjoy going on there and seeing tweets, like you mentioned from Jos today. Ok, it's nothing special but makes you feel that these footballers are just normal human beings like the rest of us. They are sociable, they are friendly, there is good banter, and without mediums like Twitter, many would still say that footballers are arrogant bastards, who are in their own little world and dont communicate with fans etc etc

I'd you use it correctly, it is a brilliant tool and I honestly don't know what I'd do without it! Such a great creation for every use and every profession.

You need to take a step back and consider what it is you're getting wound up about here. It's an internet forum. I don't use twitter. I can see its usefulness but can also see why it gets mocked.

I won't believe this signing until its on the OS which i can't understand how to use either these days.

It's funny, I think that every time I see that image but never had the nerve to say it on here as the odds are I'd be shot down for it as most are against me at the moment :)

I think I mentioned that when the photo was first used, time to us the forum search utility..

I get paid work from twitter.... therefore I find it extremely useful. My current role was found via a tweet. In my industry its pretty much THE place to find links and leads to jobs. I work in computer graphics/animation.

The fact that I can also follow my team, bands and artists I like etc is a bonus for me.

There is some self gratification that goes on which is quite annoying.. those types just get unfollowed PDQ.

Well said mate.

I was very critical of Twitter, but now I am a total convert. It's a great way to get an insight/info that you wouldn't get otherwise.

This thread really has covered everything, what should we discuss next?
Not read much about the world of facebook (thank goodness). Perhaps it's time to discuss whether footballers can enhance their profile by appearing on porn sites.

Hi all,

I've finally read through to post 7015 and thought I'd make a few comments. Firstly, for those looking for confirmation that Ramirez has signed, check out this page on the official website of Bologna FC: http://www.bolognafc.it/squadra-giovanile.asp?id=7. Ok, so it is not an official announcement, but you will note that Ramirez is not listed as a Bologna player on there.

Also, just to clarify:

@BolognaFC is an unofficial Twitter feed - the official Twitter feed is @BfcOfficialPage. However, it would seem fairly likely that @GastonRamirezOk is the official Twitter feed of the player. It links to his official Facebook page and the Facebook page links back to it. In addition, the official Bologna FC Twitter account follows @GastonRamirezOk, which gives further credence to it genuinely being his Twitter account.

Taking these facts together with the Tweet made from the @GastonRamirezOk Twitter account retweeting the unofficial Bologna page, it looks as if this may well be a done deal. The only caveat to this being that, of course, Gaston Ramirez himself tweeted that he thought the deal was done a couple of weeks ago and the whole thing was almost blown out of the water at that time!

I suspect that tomorrow's press conference will cover a number of issues: The Man Utd match and the signings of Ramirez, Yashida and Mayuka (and possibly more if we sign anyone else before 2pm tomorrow!). I hope that the official announcement of Ramirez's signing will, however, come in the morning.

Finally, on the subject of Twitter, I am not a big user of it, but have begun to see its benefits within the past year. I think you will find that some of the opinions (and that is all they are!) we have found out from people like Simon Peach and Alan Nixon have mainly been offered as a result of questions that Saints fans have posed to them, so don't knock it! ...and yes I have asked them a few questions myself - though not a lot! :)

SORRY...! Ignore that first link - I thought it was a link to details of their first team squad, but it's not! Ramirez is still listed on their website. However, I remain reasonably confident that we will hear confirmation in the morning that he has signed - based on Ramirez's own tweet (though again I recognise as already mentioned that he jumped the gun a couple of weeks' ago too!) :)

If that's true then how come 'official page' is written in English and not Italian?

like most of Saints transfers this summer (like Clyne and Gazza for example) this transfer is complicated by the multiple interested parties. I would not be at all surprised if we learn that the deal is done but official announcement will only come when the fa is happy with paperwork and agrees to the transfer of registration. Indeed I would put money on it!

Says he signed up at 21:30. Sounds like this is in the bag. The greatest signing of our time. I was alive when we signed Keegan, but only just and I certainly wasn't a Saints fan back then!

I'm going to bed now, excited like it's Christmas Eve and I'm going to wake up to a lovely present.

I'm hopeful this will be made official on the OS and OT feeds tomorrow.

We had a similar wait for confirmation of Clyne signing earlier this summer where he tweeted he'd signed on twitter, but it then took the club until 2/3pm the next day to confirm it.

I would imagine the reason it hasn't been made official yet is because he's getting last minute Visa documents from the British embassy today in Rome and then flying to Southampton tomorrow to join up with his new team mates.
