If Fonte left, I think we'd only get another centre back if Hooiveld also left. Four centre backs - Lovren, Yoshida, Forren and one other should be enough. Four centre backs - Lovren, Yoshida, Forren and one other should be enough. I think that you need 5 good BC's in the Premier League. 2 playing, 1 on the bench, 2 in reserve / suspended / injured. Not much of a goal threat but he is awesome at being able to move the ball forward into the final third and get it to players in space who can do some damage. Creative but without creating goalscoring chances for others, however he will start loads of moves in moving the ball forward in transition. I can see why we'd be after him.
