We all know Jack is pretty limited and he really should have been replaced, but I don't like reading the personal vitriol and hate he gets all over social media to be honest. He's an honest lad and clearly cares about the club, he's not a Sulemana waiting for the next exit.

Yeah for sure he's not going to be taking us to the next level, but I think he deserves a bit more respect from the fanbase than he gets. The very least you want is someone who cares, and he does.

He didn’t care enough to apologise for getting sent off for pulling someone’s hair though did he? 
As club captain that should have been a given.

Both went off at half time, Stewart didn't achieve much but Larios looked reasonably lively.

If you look at potential loans and futures for them, Larios in particular might have something going for him especially with the rumblings of Sevilla looking at a possible move. Stewart, who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if 12 months down the line he announces his retirement.

Club needs to be ruthless - terminate final year through frustration or offer him a % of wages at Champ level to start-up post-football career.

Why though, how does that benefit either party in any way? He’ll most likely see out the rest of his contract here trying to get fit again and retire at the end of next season when we release him.

The benefit is *NOT* continuing to pay monstrous wages to a player that isn't going to ever play for us in any meaningful way.

I’d say the only thing that is ‘quite fucking obvious’ is that Ross Stewart is not going to just write off the last year of his wages, or even a portion thereof, for no reason.

With a player like that, I think we always knew it was high risk - high reward, this time it just didn’t pay off. We basically did the same thing with Danny Ings and that did pay dividends. Win some - lose some, I guess.

He started 8 games in all comps for Liverpool across three seasons, only made 25 appearances in total and a lot of them were ten minute subs. There were serious doubts over his fitness, which he still struggled with in his first season with us.

When we signed him, Klopp said he'd been fit for quite some time but he couldn't offer him game time.

Ross Stewart was virtually on crutches when we signed him for £10M fucking quid.

Seriously? Stewart wasn't even able to kick a ball let alone actually get onto a football pitch. Not pretending to fathom anything. He wasn't injured when we signed him, Stewart was. What are you failing to understand about that?

The biggest threat to Gavin’s career is not injury but those statistics again - 8 matches for one of Belgium’s biggest teams, 15 conceded and only one clean sheet. I thought he might be back up next season to a new first choice but a loan out to League 1 or League 2 seems far more likely.

Norwich are nosediving almost as badly as Sheff Weds - Angus Gunn not offered a new contract according to their forum. Thorup their Danish possession-focused manager very unpopular with their fans. But parachute payments running out and Leicester/Rangers potentially more attractive to Russell even given the emotional ties to Norwich.

Even if Martin doesn’t go there, although I have a feeling that he might, that would be a very good loan move for Baz to a decent sized club. He’d have to perform a million times better than he has for us, Standard or even Pompey though. 

Possible he could compete with one of Leicester’s remaining keepers (IIRC Danny Ward is out of contract) if Martin goes there (Rudkin and their owner like Russell apparently) or Rangers could be another good move.

Gavin needs to move on though from Saints regardless of Russell Martin’s destination this summer and make a clean start (maybe even the odd clean sheet).
