Game tonight away to Aldershot is the National league cup, bit of a waste of time as a competition and not one that Saints seem to be taking seriously having lost two out of two in the group stage so far, could be of interest still for anyone who can't face watching the first team play Bristol City

What makes you think they haven't taken it seriously out of interest?

Expecting a big crowd for the u21s game v Real Madrid on Wednesday, roughly 7,500 tickets sold , I've been sent this apparently works for 4 free tickets but I'd already purchased, anyway regardless of all the negativity around the club I'd definitely encourage fans to come along and see the youngsters, been playing some great football and it *might* just be a rare enjoyable game of football at St Mary's , scan the QR code

Odd saints are promoting this on Facebook and Instagram today but still nothing on Twitter since FT Saturday

Bazunu and Robinson starting tonight against Real Madrid. No sign of Sesay who played the full match (and scored in the 96th minute) at the weekend - possibly rested, or saved for the first team?

Supposedly free to watch on Saints Play (via website) but I can't see it as yet on there. KO 7PM.

Oh that was a nice move, players not afraid to show a bit of skill. Shame Robinson's touch at the end let him down.

Bazunu's distribution is very good, tend to forget that with his flapping about

People also tend to forget that he saved us from defeat in our most important game of the season, v Pompey.

Brilliant MOTM performance from Bazunu again tonight!

Was just watching from about 75 minutes, we've been absolutely appalling, who is the U21 boss? We have 3 CBs literally standing around at the back next to each other marking space, of course our press has no chance of working. Went 1 nil down and... Nothing, no change in tactics.

Put Gav up front Saturday, what a header

It really was. Great run and really clean connection. Our strikers should take note.

He was just reminding us all of Preston away and giving a nudge for the weekend. Got on that lovely, great head!

Shame loads had already piled out by then and missed that ending.

Be hard pushed to say thats onside mate

I did not say it was onside. I was saying it wasn't "miles offside". Also that image is inconclusive due to the position of the Real Madrid player at the near post (number 21), rather than the defender next to the goal scorer.

Just to make Real Madrid aware that Gavin Bazunu is the future of goalkeeping, a real U21 talent who we're desperate to keep, but could be available for the right price.

Or, we could try him outfield. Stuart Pearce gave David James a run out up top once. Bazunu finds it difficult to save shots, but he can play.

Enjoyable evening, Real Madrid had some top quality players out there, passing and movement high standard, Bazunu made some very good saves, nice to get a late equaliser to give kids something to cheer, 10,907 attendance 👏

Madrid were a great side.

Miles better than our lads.

Superb passing and control of the ball which had us chasing shadows most of the game, but the most impressive thing for me was the way they worked so hard off the ball , they pressed us like demons .

A real lesson and wake up for our players.

We noted that, unbelievable work rate off the ball, relentless, made it so hard for our lads, on the ball they moved it around effortlessly even under pressure, looks so simple yet compared to our first XI huge difference, should have made them all attend to watch first hand how to do it

One of my mates took a video of the goal and he was level with the lino. It shows Okonola to be level with the last defender as Baz heads it.

I would upload the video / screenshot but have no idea how to do it!

They did make it look very easy and obviously class but Christ don’t we help teams. Im not sure our coaching experts have it right as usual. The 3 centre backs marking no one at times due to the lad up front’s movement. No midfield or anyone that fancies a tackle and no one up top again who can get hold of it on the couple of occasions we got past the half way line. Other than that, can’t wait for Saturday

Maybe we should put him up front, he started as an outfield player after all. It's hilarious that he's never looked more confident in going for the ball than when he's in the opposition box.

What's the lesson, "you aren't as good as Real Madrid"? I think they might have known that already.

The more I watch that the more I wonder why Okonola didn’t just tap it home rather than performing the most awkward diving header 😂
