Its easy to underestimate the Chinese. There was an IT security dude on radio 4 this morning talking about the threat to the west of China and Chinese tech. Amongst what they're doing is trying to introduce their version of gps as a worldwide standard, or at least amongst much of the world. Now in use by 120 countries. He was alluding to a Russian tie in, ie assistance to developing countries ok condition of military bases, and absorbing Chinese tech with constant tracking and data gathering.

No disrespect Whitey, but it's laughable that people think that China can't produce a chip to guide a bomb.

This is my specialist subject.

I would never underestimate the Chinese.

Would you say this was an accurate reflection of the situation Manji?

But, there was a genocide against Russian speakers - Manji heard it from Putput so it must be true.

( This Russian claim of 'genocide' is as credible as me saying there is a genocide against English speakers in Wales ).

Russians clearly know what they're doing though, there were 100's of AFU forces hiding under those roads, a BTG's worth at least. How did they know?

I’d like to think we cut all aid to any of the countries who abstained.

most are either Russian protectorates or significant beneficiaries of the belt and road initiative, but yes we should if aid exists.

At least 15,000 killed since The Maiden in 2014 according to UN, no doubt a conservative figure.

Casualties as a result of armed conflict do not amount to 'genocide'. The Ukrainians have been fighting a Russian backed insurrection since 2014, aiming to re-establish control over their internationally acknowledged sovereign territory. Ukraine has not shown or voiced any intent to prevent the use of the Russian language, or to deny people the right to identify as being of Russian descent. ( And the 15k figure is the total of casualties on both sides; nearly 11k are military casualties, and it also includes the 298 dead from the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 ).

On the other hand, Putin's SMO is directly aimed at eradicating the Ukrainian state, national identity, and ability to continue to function as an emerging modern democracy.

Russia documented using artillery last produced in 1949 now.

That doesn’t mean it’s completely ineffective of course, but it’s telling that Russia can’t provide anything better than that to those troops despite 70 years of military production as one of the world’s military superpowers in the meantime.

At least it is a weapon that has a history of killing Nazis.

No so much turret tossing with them as there is no autoloader.

Just the risk of injury from shell casings bouncing around the cabin then. Aren't these the ones with a height restriction for the crew?

No, that's the successor models with the a/l, T72 and later, which have lower silhouettes. According to the urban myth the height limit for crew members in these tanks is 5 feet 3 inches, officially the Russians say it is 5 feet 9, but anybody approaching that height will find their head and shoulders severely bruised, and drivers will find it difficult to fit their legs into the space provided in front of their position.

Who knows, maybe it's got something to do with not having the microchips available to re-stock their 'modern' weapons, so have to rely on gunpowder instead....

You've never actually read the UN report have you.

https://ukraine.un.org/sites/default/files/2021-10/Conflict-related civilian casualties as of 30 September 2021 (rev 8 Oct 2021) EN.pdf

During the entire conflict period, from 14 April 2014 to 30 September 2021, OHCHR recorded a total of 3,095 conflict-related civilian deaths (1,841 men, 1,065 women, 102 boys, 50 girls, and 37 adults whose sex is unknown). Taking into account the 298 deaths on board Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 on 17 July 2014, the total death toll of the conflict on civilians has reached at least 3,393. The number of injured civilians is estimated to exceed 7,000.

That's just under 4,000 civilian casualties over 7 years in a conflict that began with Russia arming and supporting the separatists.

But yeah, you carry on swallowing Putin's propaganda and blame it all on Ukraine.

Good to see they’ve let mental manji use the computers at the mental asylum again tonight.

11,000 of which were soldiers and that figure includes Ukrainian casualties (both civilian and military).

9% of all civilian deaths were the shooting down of a famous flight btw
