Now you agree he should be involved because he’s our best right side player. Which is it? No offence taken. Play him because it will give us a better chance of beating Ipswich on Saturday, because he’s our best player in that position, and even if he has an average game he’s probably more effective than Adam Armstrong or whoever. Not because if he plays he’ll definitely show the world he’s a super duper £45m player and it will make Everton or whoever come running to sign him. Being the best right wing option for a championship team doesn’t necessarily make you a £45m player. It just makes you the best we have available. Edited Thursday at 09:26 by Midfield_General 3

As for the negotiations, who knows if it is true that we have gone back to Everton. Might be total bullshit. For all we know Everton have come back with several new bids this week. When a big move is in the offing, so much bollocks is written. Think back to the Lavia move and there were journalists suggesting deals had been agreed at various points at all kinds of prices. Yep. All true. Stating the obvious, but what it comes down to is what people value him at based on what he’s shown and what they think his potential is, and everyone is going to have different opinions on that. Personally I don’t think an offer of £35m + £8m + some sort of sell-on is buttons for him given he’s not signing a new contract, and if we need to sell him to buy as appears to be the case then personally I would probably have taken that rather than gamble on getting a few million more but also possibly seeing his value drop if we don’t sell him this window. But I don’t run the club and as a fan I’m not close enough to it, and others may disagree and think he’s worth more, or the gamble was the right one, and of course that’s fine too. The club obviously thought they could get more, either by pushing Everton up further or because they thought there was other genuine interest that would mean more of a bidding war. They may still be right. The truth is we won’t know until the end of the window. Interesting to see how it plays out. Edited Thursday at 09:29 by Midfield_General 4

Personally, I think Ipswich would be more frightened if he played than if he was kept away. Personally I think our team for Ipswich - and everything about the situation from a Saints pov - is better for him being at worst on bench than left at home. I - and most fans I suspect t would love to see a team that has Tyler, JR and Mateus all playing at same time against a top opponent- which Ipswich away certainly is. I don't want us to play someone who doesn't want to be here, and the version of Dibling who showed up for the latter part of last season isn't scaring anyone. 2

Coastal Posted Thursday at 21:16 Posted Thursday at 21:16 Being selfish I would like to keep him for another season as I think he has the potential to develop into a top top player. On the other hand, I do think we are pricing him out of a dream move to Everton and are holding him somewhat to ransom. After the 2nd half of last season, I dont think he is the type to get his head down and work hard if he isnt 100% commited. For that reason I would snatch Evertons £35m offer and reinvest the cash in 2-3 solid signings to help us get back up. Free the boy and then back the manager in the market. 8 1

gio1saints Posted yesterday at 08:01 Posted yesterday at 08:01 (edited) We sing a song for Mateus. Deservedly our most applauded player. MAYBE, at Ipswich, Saints fans can show Tyler he IS wanted as a Saints player. By the fans if not seemingly as by the Club. He may be mentally gone already - BUT if there was still a chance or any doubt about his departure ( which there probably is not so this is a Hail Mary idea), loud support for the lad, from the terraces, might influence both him and SR. Saint sold excellent exciting to watch young players like Alan Shearer, Gareth Bale, Oxlade Chamberlin, Luke Shaw, Theo Walcott and Sadio Mane in the past before we really appreciated the nascent quality they had. I’d be happy to watch teenager Tyler play just this season and let him join a bigger club next year just selfishly to watch that extra special generational quality he has- in a Saints shirt. NB . I’m not interested in the money. I’m interested in watching potential world class talent we have play at our club before I only get to see him playing on the TV in the CL for a big club in a few years time. I know what I’d choose, if it were a choice. 👋 @Crab Lungs Sperstyan and Rudoni seem good footballers in positions we are weak in. Dibling on the other hand, is the closest thing to MLT I’ve ever seen for Saints. Objectively, what he probably needs - and sadly it’s been ever thus for Saints - is to be surrounded by better players, in a better team, and in a better league. He will get kicked the shit out of this season for sure playing Championship. Do that in the EPL and VAR will get players sent off. Do it in the championship he will just get injured. Every logical thought says he’s going and he is right to go. It’s not if he’s going it’s simply how much. It will dismay sentimentalists like me but that’s the state of this shitty game nowadays. There’s no more heroes nor can there be - only transients that wear the shirt for a season or two then depart.
