Who'd have thought I'd find Russell Martin exciting in a footballing context again. Leicester hearts may be about to be broken. Or not. Scenes.

He would do well there, with a top side in that league. I bet they would at least have a top 2 finish and would be better than this season. The style of football suits Celtic more though.

This. He was a spectacular failure last season but he did get us promoted at the first attempt and the day out at Wembley is up there amongst my favourites as a Saints fan, I wish him well.

People have their issues with Martin and seem weirdly obsessed about talking about him consistently on here but the rewriting of history isn't needed. 

Must be why a large proportion of Swansea were glad to see the back of him, a large proportion of Saints fans were glad to see the back of him and why neither Leicester or Rangers fans seemingly want him.

I’m just surprised this thread and the Jones thread have not been moved to the f-ing muppets lounge. With all that the summer and Will Still promises, I just don’t understand how these two warrant the space and time being invested by the fanboys on here. 😉

I wonder if he'll come in for any of our players if he gets the Rangers gig. He is welcome to Bazunu, Stephens, Smallbone, Sullemana, Archer, Manning etc

Archer will be a decent player so I hope he stays. The others are more than welcome to **** off.

I think Bazunu and Smallbone suit his system well, and the Scottish league is very weak, so I think picking them up would be good way for Rangers to strengthen to his system.

Almost no chance that  Irish (possibly catholics) Manning or Bazunu will be going to Rangers. Not sure on Smallbone as he’s hardly Irish.

Rangers job makes sense for such a purist if he's been promised patience.  Can go all in on high possession football with no risk of relegation and lots of easier teams to practice against.

True, but the one fixture they care about, his side could get murdered in. Like our two games with Leicester in the Championship.

If they are 1 down against Celtic with 2 mins left and they are pissing about at the back getting nowhere the reaction from the Rangers fans might be worth hearing !

That being said, the real test for Celtic and Rangers is to perform well in Europe. The jury’s out on that one.

I don't think anybody should take this thread too seriously, it's all a bit of close season fun, but as pointed out the fans up there will be more vocal if they faff about at the back aimlessly: "stats padding", I like that.

Apart from Harry I've never really wished ill on an ex-manager: the usual reaction has been relief and maybe subsequently a teeny-weeny chuckle of schadenfreude on the odd occasion.

I have never felt so enamoured towards another fanbase as i do towards Rangers with this post. They really do get it 😂

In fairness, he would be a good appointment for them - he would dominate in that league no question at all - but as with saints, it would be flattery to deceive, and then being too soft against any serious side they met in europe / celtic.
