Saint NL Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Bazunu is awful, that's just fact. But when you have someone equally as awful in the defence you're going to struggle. Manning was appalling today, worse than his usual efforts 4

qwertyell Posted January 4 Posted January 4 After his first game (Spurs away, I think), I said a couple of their goals were troubling - they'd gone in the middle third of the net, and he hadn't gotten anywhere near them. His weight distribution was also all wrong, always on his heels and falling backwards rather than diving across. Alarm bells were ringing. It didn't look right. He didn't look like a keeper. Anyway, here we are. Where do I collect my prize? 2
Mboto Gorge Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) Just been on the OS for the first time in ages and just have a look at how they’ve described the fourth goal; “A fourth was added on 76 minutes. Gavin Bazunu made a strong save from the initial shot following another short corner. Unfortunately for the Irishman he could only parry the ball into the path of Browne, who scored his first of the season.” They’re even trying to sugarcoat his errors on the official site and trying to re write history, as if those of us who watched it, don’t have eyes. A strong fucking save. Insulting our intelligence Edited January 4 by Mboto Gorge 7 1

Dr Who? Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I’m sorry but I am fed up of Gavin bashing. There were 7-8 players that need replacing. So easy to target the obvious keeper as the goal sails past him, with no defence. No he is not the greatest, but from what I have seen there are many that are not putting a good enough shift in. 2 2

I’m fed up with bashing Gavin, if he fucked off I wouldn’t need to. Why do we have to put up with this chump when it’s the easiest position to improve. He is far and away the worst player in a horrendously bad set up., the worst player in the whole fucking league in his position , as bad as some of the others are, you can’t say that about any of the others. 11
Saint_clark Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Just seen the highlights. One of his strengths is meant to be that he's quick off the line and reads it well. 2nd goal today if he hadn't taken an age to react he'd have at bare minimum been able to smother the ball at the strikers feet, and quite likely been able to just claim the ball.

Yep he is poor, but the whole team, squad, club are poor. Just so draining every week. Used to be the same for Fraser on here as well. 1

The second goal today was the defence napping, a fantastic bring down and touch from the Boro player. No coverage in front of him at all. The team were terrible for every goal. The first goal we went asleep on a quick corner. It was a shambles and not all down to Gavin for sure, it was a perfectly inept team performance in that second half, with some woeful finishing in the first half. 1

Had he been playing behind the exact same players it wouldn’t have been 4, I’m convinced of that. The first one he had his legs so far open I thought Bonnie Blue was in the nets, the second one was easily saveable and the 4th was down to him and his weak parry. Even the third one he dived in completely the wrong direction…He’s a clown… 8

He earns a fucking fortune and has regularly conceded goals left right and centre for 4 bloody years now, from being an absolutely fucking terrible shot stopper. People are sick of his relentless underperformance and looking like a fucking lost child in goal. There are others also at fault yes but he’s the longest serving failure of the lot , he needs to fuck off asap 4

But one the guy got his show away, I did enjoy Baz being able to curve his arm and hand around the trajectory of the ball so that he managed to completely avoid touching it with any part of his limb, and allowing it to hit its desired target. Incredible skill to not get a hand on that, you can’t teach that. Edited January 4 by Mboto Gorge 3

Under previous managers you did think there would be a tipping point at some stage and he’d be dropped, but under this puppet Eckert, no chance. Performance levels don’t seem to matter when he’s in goal. Edited January 5 by Mboto Gorge 1

Mboto Gorge Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Just let that sink in - 97 games and 40 more goals conceded than expected. The 4th goal was unlucky too, if he’d have pushed it out anywhere else it’s safe, how was he to know it’d go straight to their striker? I've not seen replays, but for the 4th, I thought he'd made a decision to bravely catch the ball. Baz knew that if he did so, he could quickly launch it up to one of our razor sharp attackers, to get us back into the game. Not just selfless from Baz, but he's a bit of a hero. I'm looking forward to celebrating his 100th game. Not just by dropping something in the kitchen, in tribute. 2

His 'dive' gained him exactly zero ground! He would have been better taking one step to his right as at least there would have been more chance of the ball hitting him then, giving him another accidental world class save. This is evident for pretty much of all the dives he does. I suspect he does it to make his efforts look spectacular but in reality it gains nothing. 1
