Not if Stewart manages to stay fit.

Think you knew how this might turn out when you typed that didn’t you ?

If he stays fit he’s our man. Big if.

Really disappointed but not in the least bit surprised. Players that are out for as long as he was never properly return.

Plenty do, we'll just have to hope this injury isn't too bad. Sadly a hammy will probably see him out until Christmas or so.

It’s a real shame for us and for him. we’ve had a little glimpse of what might have been. He looks like he could have been an absolute beast in the championship and possibly half decent in the premier league. I didn’t realise until just now he’s only ever played more than 30 games ina season once and that was in league one for Sunderland. Didn’t check the reasons why but can only assume it’s injuries as ability wise he seems to have an awful lot in his locker

Genuinely interested to hear your examples.

Shearer and Van Dijk are the only ones I can think of that had a serious injury and got back to near their best. I can’t think of anyone else who’s had a serious injury and returned

Thought he looked bloody good in the first 30 today and was bringing better performances out of those around him too. Fuck sake. Gutted for him but how we've let ourselves become so reliant on him is just a result of awful squad planning

Shearer, RVN, Pires, Roy Keane, Del Piero, VVD…

All good calls, but still the exception rather than norm

Well if he is injured long term we need to sign one of the free agents because relying on Downs is not an option. Emmanuel Dennis is available and he's played for Watford and Forest. He's not perfect but he'd be far more use than Downes. Not the tallest though at 5'9". Got to bite the bullet and find the best free agent we can if Stewart is going to be side-lined for long which is likely the case and we've seen how much time he takes to get back up to speed after injuries. A mess of the club's own making with Spors among the guilty parties.

Pointless signing him when we’ve got archer who is the same height and probably a better player

btw I just checked their goal scoring history. Denis has scored 16 goals in 77 appearances in English football archer has 25 in 121 and is 4 years younger

Denis isn’t the answer
