Nope. Just don’t give a monkeys about the league cup this season 😅 in fairness any positive result will be good for confidence- hopefully one of the strikers can get off the mark eh!

While the team are in Norwich, maybe Spors can chuck in a cheeky bid for Sargent. They don't even need to pay postage, we can bring him home on the bus.

Smallbone to Wrexham being reported for £7.5m

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25413549.championship-rivals-reportedly-make-7-5m-transfer-bid-smallbone/

Hopefully frees up a midfield position in the squad. I’d love us to try for Josh Brownhill a solid goal scoring midfielder.

fofana from Chelsea maybe an attacking option, was on loan at Goztepe last season.

Big big week coming up. I can't help but feel we relied to heavily on our marquee signing being this Armenian guy and the club honestly believed they had it all tied up with club agreeing to the fee, the player wanting to come here and then only for his club to go all Russian like Putin. I think Saints have been massively played and as a consequence are having to very quickly get options 2, 3, and 4 going!

Still needs backing and the squad badly needs freshening up. We have players that were good enough to get us promoted last time round but those players are nowhere near showing that form now, their hearts are not in it, they clearly would rather be elsewhere. It's all well and good fans saying our squad depth is ridiculous for this division and opposition managers in awe of what we have available but if those players are not committed then they may as well be invisible!

Someone posted his name (and nothing else) earlier in the thread. Probably just planting some ITK seeds.

Just imagined what this place will be like if we sell dibling, lose to Norwich, and then accept a bid for Fernandes... All before any serious incomings are announced. Could be a pretty epic meltdown 😅🤣

And give a new four year deal to Bazza.

Saints fans being too placid again, and we get what we deserve. Supporters at many clubs wouldn’t put up with his feeble displays, without making their views known.

Give me strength. We’ve lost one game. One. The season has barely started and the transfer window isn’t over yet. Are Ipswich doomed too? Honestly so much OTT nonsense this weekend. Enjoy the bank holiday, relax - we’ll go again next weekend.

Aren't you worried that we look like a complete mess? We've had a pretty lucky win and a lucky draw and a home defeat.

Suguwara off to Werder Bremen on loan, he's already there having his medical.

Obviously no one rates him enough to pay a fee, which isn't a surprise. So this doesn't really aid us hugely in terms of finance, gets some wages off the books I guess.

According to information from the DeichStube, SV Werder Bremen is close to a transfer of full-back Yukinari Sugawara. All info.

Bremen – In the search for a new full-back, SV Werder Bremen has finally found what they are looking for two days after the Bundesliga opener at Eintracht Frankfurt (1:4): According to information from the DeichStube, the Bundesliga club is close to signing Yukinari Sugawara from FC Southampton. The Japanese is already in Bremen to complete the medical check and clarify the final details of the intended deal with those responsible. The transfer should be made official shortly.

Next new signing: Werder about to transfer Japanese full-back!

Another disaster of a signing brought in with big fanfare.

They have one of the worst success rates on transfers I think I've ever seen, across all clubs in the 92.

I'll give them Fernandes, Charly and Lavia - but after that, I'm struggling.

It seems to me, from what Still said the other day and from the German article, that we would’ve probably kept Sugawara if it wasn’t for the Japan manager insisting that he needed to be in one of the top 5 European leagues to get a call up. Glad he’s going though as he’s terrible.

Indeed. And this is what the "don't worry, we've got proven players at this level" fraternity conveniently turn a blind to. If the players' hearts and souls aren't fully committed to the club then it doesn't matter a jot how good they are technically and what they've achieved at this level before....

Who actually watches these players and decides they are what we need? Surely if you watched someone like Sugawara for a few games you'd spot his deficiencies which, as we've seen, are glaringly obvious.

I guess that came from left field, and fast tracked the move for Roserlev, to be fair we at least moved instantly on t hat.

I’m worried but I think the forum whips itself into a frenzy too easily. If we’re still shit after the international break I’ll join the meltdown but keen to keep my powder dry until then. Things have been deep down shit for a while and it’s going to take a bit of time to turn the tide. I’m please with a lot of the outgoings and think the ins so far make sense but agree that we need more - I like that Still seems very clear in what he needs and is honest is his assessments.

I fail to see how a CB and a CF that can’t get in the side are ins that make sense.

Looks like Leicester, who I didn't think could sign anyone, are going to get a winger before us. I thought we'd be all over sorts like him. Intrigued to see who we are looking at who are better options than guys like Stengs.

Leicester City are in talks to sign Feyenoord winger Calvin Stengs.

It’s understood Feyenoord are open to selling The Netherlands international in this window.

Do we have such a thing as a striker?

Stoke have been in the Championship for the last 6-7 years while we’ve spent 5 of those in the Prem, yet somehow they’ve managed to find a front 3 that put our attacking options to shame. They looked faster, more direct and physically capable than any thing we have. Something in our scouting department is seriously lacking and looks like a cunning Baldrick plan with only days to go. They paid 4m for the lad on the right and he looked dangerous

Can’t see the point of Charlie Taylor hanging around either. He’s not displaced Wellington or Manning from his training or playing displays and he’s not needed as a back up Centre Back. Push comes to shove Ryan Fraser can do left wingback anyhow also.

Championship teams have more financial power than Eredivisie teams.

As an aside, if we were to buy a keeper, winger, number 10 and a striker, it'd easily cost £50m.

That's a quarter of all Championship transfers so far this window.

According to Transfermarkt he only played 12 matches last season, missing 22 games due to a variety of injuries. On that basis, he does sound very 'Saintsy', but I wouldn't be very happy if we were after him!

There’s merit in working with a slimmed down squad. One is that it fosters greater personal responsibility and allows for more intensive one to one work with coaches ( think a classroom with 20 kids or one with 30- which is easier to teach with and to what higher standard might be possible if main teacher has more time with each of them?)  and a better, tighter, team spirit. If Will is that good then with fewer in the squad his added value Manager/coaching skill will be reaped-not diluted perhaps like at present.

Sounds like the Japan national coach has done us a huge favour!

It seems that gone are the days when we could pull a Ricky Lambert type signing out of the bag.

The circumstances are different. Lambert was symbolic of a club beaten down by financial problems getting back on its feet and hungering to get back what it once was. Nowadays the club is on a sustained decline, getting just that little bit worse every year, we have money but no ambition to challenge. I think a number of prospective hires can see it from a mile off.

Nice to see we continue to be efficient at getting players put of the door. Less so in signing anyone, at all, who will actually improve the first team.

Tick tock.

There goes my hope of us targeting someone who can legitimately push Bazunu then.

God help us signing anyone who may threaten their pet project.

By all accounts, he's a decent bloke/great to have round the squad in terms of keeping up morale and I imagine he's not denting the finances too much either but he's so far off the required standard of this league, even as a No. 3, it really makes you think who scouted him and signed him off in the first instance.

*surely, until Still has his OWN side, to play his OWN system that he is not wedded to, you must wait until the end of the Summer 2027 Window.

Quarshie, Downs and George Long?

And Spors was supposed to be the 'man'
