These people are paid well to give informed opinions

The state of this….

He seems to assume we just want to sell these players. Whereas we only do if we can get top dollar.

There's a difference between saying he's interested in a move and "taking monumental action".

or indeed ending up at West Ham of all places

Looks like Matty wants out 😭

I hope it isnt true, with the long contract we have a good position to keep or sell on our terms.

That's an all and nothing article. Breaking news...player wants to play in the Premier League rather than The Championship. Who'd have thunk that?!

Did I miss the "monumental" part of that article?

It's lots of words to say his agents are talking with West Ham (who'd have thought it given they'd made a bid) and nothing more as far as I could see, and I'm not re-reading that tripe to verify.

Matty won't be joining West Ham, they simply won't be able to afford him. You could count the PL teams on one hand that have the finances to make a deal happen.

Correct, they could probably stretch to £35 million but would have to raise funds from departures to get towards £50 million. Which makes me wonder whether they'll look at a player swap, certainly there's been rumours in the past of us having a passing interest in Guilherme.

The club want in excess of £70m for him, I can't see us entertaining a cash + player deal with Matty.

He won't move to a top five PL club, but I suspect he'll move to the PL. If he wants out, he's going.

You can't have loan with an option to buy as he only has one year left on his contract. If we loan him out for a year he will then be a free agent so no fee, but finally off our books!

I understand we have a one year extension clause in his contract, so could action that and kick the can down the road, hoping he shows form. Think it’s clear the preference is to get rid this window though.

If I was A sneaky piece of shyte like Sullivan telling someone that I knew was going to leak it online without a direct attribution that OUR PLAYER wants to leave is exactly the sort of tosser tactic I’d use to try to unsettle Saints and our fans whilst currying favour with his teams fanbase.
It’s the kind of trash talking / business deal softening up for which he’s renowned. What a see u next Tuesday he is.

What Michael Dawson needs to learn is if we keep Fernandes and if we get promoted, we get more than £50m simply from being promoted back to the Premier League. So, Will Still (😂) is right to set those price tags.

Additionally, if Fernandes has a good season and then another good season in the Premier League, he skips a club like West Ham. Even a good season in the Championship could see that, see both the Bellinghams.

A lot of ifs, but Dawson seemed to be struggling with us not selling our star player for around £30m.

Thick as mince!

The former players are generally a bit easier to manipulate - barring Neville and Carragher at the brighter end. A lot of the reporters and presenters are cabs for hire same as the red top political journalists, except you are swapping political parties for elite football clubs using mouthpieces to further their interests and pursuits.

Normally pundits get better over time. Dawson is getting worse - irritating twat with bad hair

Does anyone care what Dawson thinks - nice bloke that he apparently is though.  It's like asking Tim Sherwood for an opinion.  Actually, I take that back - it's not as bad as that.
