Absolutely not. Way overpriced at £20m +

Josh Sargent: Price: Let's say £22m. Goals so far this season in a bang average Norwich side: 4 goals in 4 games

Armstrong, Archer, Downs, Stewart, BBD: Combined price: about £52m. Combined goals so far in a side tipped for automatic promotion: 2 between all 5 of them.

Yeah, why would we want him?

ABK gone and we’re definitely not getting Ings. Best days of the window so far.

Agree on ABK, probably on Ings but doubt anyone would be hugely shocked if he scores more than our strikers this season

If there was any chance at all of Brereton-Diaz going back there, I am guessing this signing ends that possibility?

I'd argue it means exactly that. The offer Saints have made to Spertsyan obviously agrees with him, but the transfer fee we have made does not agree with his club.

I thought this whole Spertsyan thing had been put to bed as it came out he had signed a new contract with them which his agent wasn't even aware of amongst all of this he's coming/he's not malarky?

Didn't that Armenian news guy say he is no longer reporting on it as it is seemingly over where a new contract has been signed? All a bit weird. Wouldn't surprise me if by continually reporting a possible transfer and saying the player is keen to join has been viewed as 'unsettling' their star player and the Russian president didn't like that so has hushed him with threat.?

To put not too fine a point on it, everything in Russia is fucked up. It makes dealing with them impossible (not to mention pretty undesirable).

This. (Especially if we get to midnight without any Armenian updates)

Any chance of getting shot of him was blown out the water by his incredible cameo appearence last night !

But he doesn't really, that's the problem.

Frankly with the squad we have a defensive mid is not always needed, and when it is Shea can drop slightly. He covers a lot of ground and is deceptively strong.

He harries but commits a needless foul probably 90% of the time.

With Spertsyan, Kabore, Azaz, Rak-Sakyi and Guilavogui, there is plenty of transfer noise. You'd imagine at least one or two of these will happen.

What is the whelmed beneath underwhelmed? I am that regarding this transfer. Fuck me the owners of our club are awful. Are we just picking any old chuff from Ligue One because they are cheap?

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Lens manager Pierre Sage confirmed that Guilavogui did not take part in training this morning as his transfer nears completion: “He wasn’t with the group because he’s on his way out.”

The move would reunite Guilavogui with Will Still, who took charge at Southampton this summer. The striker joined Lens from Paris FC in 2023 and has registered 7 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.

Thank God we can rely on Will Still looking to the absolute world-beaters he has seen on a computer programme, sorry, worked with in the past

The irony is that he went out on loan the season that Will Still managed them

It's this bloke and Azaz isn't it. Sell Fernandes and keep Smallbone and that's the lot. Maybe a prem lpanee winger too.

Yep, that’ll be it. We’ll be scrambling around for 6th place.

Just getting in before MLG comes in here and tells you that Guilavogui is not a world-beater on FM because his current ability and potential ability statistics are not in the world-beating numerical bands

I reckon at the very least, we'll get 2 wingers in and a number 10.

Azaz, Guilavogui, Rak-sakyi.

If we go into the Skate game with a starting 11 that loosely resembles something like this, I'd be relateivly comfortable;

Bazunu

Mads, Stephens, THB, Manning

Charles, Downes (MF will be off imo).

Rak-sakyi Azaz Robinson

Archer

If we drop something like 12 million on rak sakyi who may or may not be better than Edozie then I'll be bitterly disappointed that that's where we chose to spend our limited funds.

This is the SR way though, spend all summer chasing an unrealistic option and then scrabble around in the final days and end up overpaying on lesser players because we're then seen as desperate.

I'd still say, as I've said all along, our best value will come in the loan market. I'm still hoping for some top level loans. (I'm not counting George Long.....)

I'm not going to write then off yet until the end of the window as they might pull off something excellent that we haven't been linked with yet but if this is it I'd rather have not been linked with Spertsyan to be honest if it meant we just wasted our time all summer before getting whatever was left at the end of the window.

No you said we weren't going to spend substantial money on any signings. If we get Azaz in that won't be the case even if I'd personally see that as a disappointing window.

8 G/A in the Bundesliga for a team that only scored 28 goals isn't a bad return. Seems like a sensible signing IMO!

You really haven’t got the hang of this have you? You are supposed to slag him off even though you have never seen him play and have only just heard of him.

Nah. You're supposed to say what a smart and astute signing he is even if that later turns out to be complete bollpcks and saints struggle to offload him in a couple of years time.
