We sold two players who didn’t want to be here.

Sure, because we got relegated. I fully understand their desire to move and progress their careers and don't see them as the bad guys. It's a business. If my wages were cut by 40%, I'd be looking to change jobs.

My point was that I'm not going to give the club a pat on the back for getting a reasonable fee for these two players. I don't see this 'business' as something to celebrate. We haven't done well to get `great money for two ineffective players' as the original posts alludes to.

Yeah let's not be duped by Fabrizio Stinko accounts!

Lots of 'funny' people with too much time on their hands on that cesspit

I am always mildly amused by the attitude of players wanting to leave a relegated club, having been an active part of the squad that got relegated. If some of these "too good tor the Championship" players had put a bit more effort in, maybe their team would not have gone down.

Perhaps he did, it's not that much of a journey back to Brum.

Why would he complete a medical with us and then return to West Brom for training, seems very unlikely

I know nothing is over the line yet, but the last 24 hours have been thoroughly enjoyable, and encouraging.

Yet, 48 hours ago half the list were dissing Spors, Still, SR, the royal family and the kitman because they didn’t like our third choice keeper and therefore, from that, it showed lack of understanding, commitment or dedication.

I appreciate that half of those on here can do a better job managing, owning or purchasing than the current incumbents.  Could that half, please, in future, wobble their heads, control their bladders, hold back their irrational fear and shut the fuck up until they see or hear the full story.
Just asking for a friend!!

For all the fanfare, 1 signed from yesterday

Listening to the Baggies reporting sounds like it's a matter of time. He's at the training ground but Ryan Mason was non-comittal on saying wether he'd be available for selection. Sounds like it could be a medical this afternoon?

Essentially deal agreed but not signed.

Ipswich also spending 20mil on a striker

Danishscout on Twitter can’t believe the fee and says he’s bang average. We’ll see

Hopefully he's not even that good.

How about wind your neck in and wait until the window closes and signings are confirmed 😂

Sport Republic have a proven track record of poor recruitment and relegations. Let's not get carried away shall we?

Their PSR status must be screwed.  Yes they sold Hutchinson and Delap but they both had sell on clauses and were expensive buys in the first place.  The mount of £10m plus signings they have made is crazy.  Muric, OShea, Greaves, Philogene etc etc.  Cant see how their books balance.

maybe they don't give a shit about PSR having seen the lack of any punishment for Leicester!!!

I think youve missed the point. The issue is much wider than 2 missed chances by the backup striker who has been bought for his potential.

The issue is that our principal target man (Stewart) has hardly played for over 2 seasons.

We should have bought a reliable number 9 and this may come back to bite us.

I didn't know Downs was seen as the backup striker to be honest. I thought they saw him as the guy to lead line this season. It goes without saying that if both Downs and Stewart don't do the business, that will bite us.

If we do end up getting both Azaz and Fellows in for roughly half a Dibling, that’s really good business. Would have loved Tyler and Matty to stay but it was never going to happen. That’s football, innit?

There's talk within Preston North End circles that they're signing Matsuki on loan. It seems to stem from this post on their forums.

I haven’t posted on here for a number of years. In fact, I think under a similar username, I broke the news about the Great Sir Tom Finneys passing. Anyway, my nephew was in a London restaurant earlier today and rang to ask me if we had been linked with any Chinese players. I asked why and he said that he overheard a conversation between an English speaking bloke and said Chinese person. What he heard was “so if all goes according to plan, you will be a Preston North End player by next week!”

The only person I could think of based on stuff I’ve read in this Thread was the Japanese kid from Southampton, Matsuki. I told my nephew his name, he googled him and said it’s defo him. He took a sneaky photo but you can only see the side of his head. just thought I’d share this info with you so I hope it doesn’t jinx any potentially positive news.

I can’t work out how to attach the photo if someone can help

So probably nothing.

That would be rather shite, but he'd get some quality exp.

That would be a surprise given the way WS was speaking about him. The suggestion was that they were impressed by him, were working on getting him to do exactly what they wanted and that was difficult with the language barrier. None of that's going to be resolved by loaning him to PNE.

I think Fernandes did all he could, he was probably our most consistent player last season and always put a shift in. He goes with my blessing for what it’s worth.

I don’t have any strong feelings about Dibling leaving, except to say he was overused and rushed back from injury.

its such a short career I don’t blame anyone capable of playing at a higher level wanting to do so.

That post is proper funny. The thought of his grandson googling a footballer and trying to take a sneaky photo in what you would assume would be quite a decent standard London resturant whilst also being close enough to hear about him moving to Preston is hilarious

Quality story though. I do like it when’s there’s a bit of effort taken setting the scene and the almost exact recollection of words and half captured visages. It’s Agatha Christie-esque. I do t care if it’s bollocks. Just think it’s a good effort either way. 😆

Bit of a kick in the nuts, that.  Come on against Norwich, score a worldie, then get shipped off elsewhere

He'd be a capable backup to Azaz from what I've seen in preseason. Would rather have him around than not.

Not liking the mood music over fellows. Will be pleased if that gets over the line but not before.

Hopefully it's just his agent trying to get him the best possible deal. It's not great for the player when the club they've been with since a lad tells them they're on their way.

All getting predictably weird now, this transfer window. WBA in for Scienza as a replacement for Fellows.

No way we’re getting both as many thought yesterday. Perhaps the dick waving from some in this thread was premature after all.
